- This is the one most people wanted as a lesson.. It's an intermediate/advanced lesson I'd say.. It comes in two parts.. This is part 1.. Enjoy, and I hope you find it helpful!!
This is one of the best instructions on UA-cam. I could never play this song until Larry took me through it. Rest in Peace brother and thanks for all the great music. ❤
What happened to him?
@@chikkipop Larry Passed away. I'm not sure of any details, but I sure miss him. RIP Larry
This is what I have been looking for. Everybody else that shows how to play this changes it in some way shape or form, but I can see, Larry, that you're a purist. Thank you very much for putting this up!
Thank you for the true and original chordsJust what I was always wishing for.Beautiful and wonderful, easy manner.
i can't believe anyone needs to complain about a video like this especially someone talented as this and offering to help others too.
Fantastic song. Fantastic lesson! Very clear and easy-to-follow
Listen. Excellent player and gifted teacher. Thanks for taking the time to do this!
This is in my humble opinion THE BEST tutorial on youtube. !!! I've always loved this song.....Don't have a clue why I've never learned to play it...But thanks to this tutorial it should be a breeze...Thanks your step bu step instruction ..Or in other words giving a tutorial the way it should be gone...Hey you're not a bad singer at all either....VERY nice voice! Thanks Larry !! You have a new fan! Buck
Those are beautiful sounding chords, I love this song.
. . . One of the best tutorials I've ever come across so thank you Larry. I've just e-mailed the link to everyone I know who's interested in good music and especially guitar. Well done. Slán, Brian (Ireland)
Larry, I avoided this song for many years, thinking it totally beyond my capabilities. Thanks to you, I was able to get through it. In fact, I was so happy that I actually posted it to UA-cam. (Not that the "lead" was in any way ready). But hey, I was anxious! I'll get it smoother with time. Thanks for the great instruction!
Oh! Bravo! With that voice, wow, I’m not surpized your notes “ allow for
the orchestral arrangement! "
I'm as taken with your voice as I was with the man who made this song so famous!
I hope I find more of you!
UA-cam is as open to the gifts you
have 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀! 𝗜’ 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗰ame 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 you 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, & I am amazed that this video has been here for 10 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀! Truly, music is
Interpretive, & with no concern for
missing it by 10 years, I can say,
“ Your gift continues to bless, & I’m
living proof! Thanks so much!
Larry, I thank you...I learned a lot and I appreciate your instruction and time you gave me!
Great tutorial Larry, the best I've seen for this gem of a song on youtube.
Larry, great teaching job. Fantastic playing and a great voice!
I never tuned down and learned this exactly as you showed it...thanks for showing me the best version out there. I turned the volume up on the speaker and copied your chord grips(quietly) until I felt comfortable with it and then played it in standard tuning..worked for me!! Thanks Larry.
You have no idea how important this song is to me and now I know how to play it. The best lesson of my life. Thx
Larry, you have amazing guitar skills and a wonderful voice. You also have excellent taste in music... as it aligns with mine! I very much enjoy watching your videos. Although I’ve been playing for decades, you’ve taught me a great deal. Thank you! Please keep it up.
Thanks so very much for taking the time to construct this tutorial. I have tried many times over the years to work out a version of this brilliant song but with no acceptable result. Your interpretation is inspired and I am grateful.
I will watch for more of your lessons.
Martyn
Thanks Larry!! I enjoyed it and I had a lot of fun following along. I also appreciate the introduction to your style!!!
Thank you Larry. Love this lesson. Almost got it down pat. You amaze me!
THANX LARRY, for taking the time to do this, very helpful.
Larry I appreciate this song. Im 57 years old. Injoy the music by from 60 and 70s. I love one perticulor women for 17 years . My love for her I can't explain. She my country bunken . She the love of my life. She going home any time. This song reminds me when we take off camping in the mountain of Williams Arizona for weekend looking up at the stars in the night sky's. Traveling hearing this song on the radio. Thank you Larry🍀💞😏
Great lesson, amazing guitar, btw. Thanks, Larry!
Thank you for adding this tutorial, very much appreciated as your version is brilliant
I think you nailed it. By the way, it's sure nice to have somebody on UA-cam teaching a song where his guitar is actually in-tune. There are other commenters here that say you tuned down a half-step. Maybe you did but that doesn't matter. When I say your guitar is in-tune I'm referring to the relative pitch of the strings to each other and your intonation-- both of which are in good shape. Nice job on everything!
Great job. Well taught, very thorough. Nice to see the orchestral version and all the chords involved.
Very nice arrangement and voicing of Wichita Lineman with the guitar tuned down. A secret to this song is put your ear to the original and learn what is taking place. This is how Ted Greene taught. The original song is actually done in two parts with the first verse in F and the second verse in D. It is a strange yet powerful change because Dm is the relative minor of F, not D. Hence the second verse starts in C, then G, Gm, D, then the little bridging transition back to F, the first verse key. The first verse has the 'earthly' sound, the second key the 'etherial' feeling of loneliness. A magical transition between the two feelings.
This is wonderful, generous and easy to follow. Thank you so much!
Thanks for your hard work. Bunch of great songs and chords!!
Thanks for doing this. You've done a beautiful arrangement.
Fantastic!
Not only a great lesson, but you have a great voice as well.
Hi Larry. I enjoy your videos and your instruction. Thank you!
Good stuff, Larry. I'd pick You are the Sunshine of my Life, but I love that song, and you nail it. :)
Very very good lesson you really bring this song to its greatness I remember this song in 68 I just end started playing again after 40 years I notice you tuned down a half step do you do this on all your vids again excellent joe brown Brooklyn ny 1951
Thanks Larry ,I just love this song best wishes Colin UK 🇬🇧
I love this song... in a way, I actually am a Wichita lineman. Larry, you give a great lesson, you have a good voice, which I lack, but you gave me this song I love and I can't thank you enough. Take good care.
Hi Larry
you probably don't remember but i sent you an email just to thank you for posting this tune,I was searching you tube for this song and found your site, and became a fan of your stuff then:) it must of been over a year ago.I was able to pick it up the song from listening and watching you...and here your doing a lesson ...very cool:)

-Scott
I love this song and thank you Larry for helping me through it. Someone asked me to sing it last week and i will enjoy doing it at the next gig...lovely playing Larry. Mark
I'll have to come back to these lessons when I can have a guitar in front of me. thanks for doing this for all of us.
Both tutorials are very helpful. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing. Really like your style.
That was a great tutorial, much appreciated. Guitar sounds great too.
Thanks for this Larry! Great job and a great song.
Fantastic voice.
Brilliant.
@MrPortisaac Yeah.. how could I be so thoughtless as to make a two-part video in response to many requests, to try mb best to help people learn this song. Tuning my guitar down is a sign of conceit? I said that if you can't play along with a video and ascertain that the other guitar is tuned down, then perhaps you are not musically inclined. That is not an insult-it's reality. Bottom line-I made the video the best I could. A lot of people liked it. If you don't, go watch something else.
THANK YOU LARRY!!! You are my favorite youtube performer. I love your style. I can't wait to learn and master this song. I didn't know you asked for lesson requests. Like you, I am a huge America fan. I would love it if you would do a lesson for Till The Sun Comes Up Again.
Very well down and a great breakdown without going into all the detail like" Put your 1st finger on the 3rd fret of the 3rd string, etc.... That drives me nuts! I like to hear the notes called by name. It is so much easier and you learn where they are on the neck.
The chords are simple with this song, it is the phrasing I have trouble with. It is the time signature with all the rests used.
Great job Larry. Some complex chords, but sounds spot on. I look forward to attempting it. God Bless.
Thanks for sharing this song and lesson. Fantastic!
Hi Larry, thank you so much for posting this wonderful lesson, the chords you've taken the time to work out are sensitive and make a beautiful solo acoustic version of a difficult song. All the best from Spain. Paul
Thanks! Great lesson and I appreciate the explanation too.
Love this song Larry and do it in my own solo set as well as Rhinestone Cowboy....yes people here in the UK love Glen's music over here!! Nice post!
kudos Larry great job...sounds good!
Great chord voicings and great tutorial ... Thanks
Larry, I love your guitar skills and choices of songs. You do America material the best I've seen. I'm wondering if you have a tutorial on the Three Roses solo like you did with Riverside. You really made it a ton easier for me with those lead parts. I can pick quite a bit of it up in the video but a slow down tutorial would be perfect. In any event, think about it and no matter what keep showing us your stuff. Thanks.
You have a really nice voice!
God bless you Larry...
R.I.P. My musical friend.
💔🙏
Was wondering why no recent lessons 😢
Thank you for taking your time to give a free lesson.
Well done sir and thank you so much.
Hey Larry, great video. I get a good response when I play this a my local folk club. Thank you for the great tutorial. I also love Glen Campbell's Wishing Now. Could you do a tutorial for the intro to that song?. Regards Mike
Fantastic Larry. Thank you so much.
I can't thank you enough for these insights
Amazing…god bless you sir!
Salute to you Larry, .... I play completely by ear. I hate to try to show someone how to play things because I don't even know what I'm playing???? Your instruction was crystal clear! (since I could see what you were doing)... still a big fan, (used to be poolph01)
Thanks Larry, please do more song lessons!

Great lesson, great singing too
Thanks Larry :) got heaps from this to work with..
Awesome. Very helpful.
do you have light my fire guitar tutorial video
Larry, thanks for the vid, i have a question outside of the song tho. how are you getting by with the feedback into the mic from the monitors in such a small room? i was looking at your set up and is very similar to what i have as well, but i cant seem to get away from this . keep up the good job
cool, I as Brazilian liked of chords sound good. I'm learning. My dad liked this song.
You have an amazing voice.
Great lesson - it's funny but I worked out the tuning before I read the comments so learnt something new! Excellent profile of Glen Campbell on BBC4 last night.

I really liked Larry he was an awesome Musician, where he he from
@2222badger2222 the strings are tuned 1/2 step down..Eb,Ab,Db,Gb,Bb,Eb,
Larry. Sounds good, is your guitar in standard tuning?
Great lesson!!!!!
@podline66 Well said and thank you for taking the time to try and share music with others. I had no problem with the tuning as the chords are clear as day on your video.
Can anyone tell me the tuning that Barry Gibbs of the Bee Gees used..
Hello you have a very good voice and
play very well. God must really love you !
Hello "podline66", thank you for the great way of teaching, beautiful done, also the explanation of the chords etc, I am subscribed at your channel now.
Regards from Belgium
I haven't been able to hit the high notes until I saw this video. I tuned down and my vocals match up better. I knew I could do this, but it just didn't dawn on me until I heard it being played a half step lower. Contrary to some other people's opinion, there's nothing wrong with doing this.
Whatever works is my credo, and in this song, a half step down is the way to go for me. Thanks to podline66
Thank you, Larry.
i admire you. GOD bless!
Larry - thanks for sharing freely this tutorial - you know I'm a big fan grateful for and inspired by what you do
I never realised but as this tutorial took off I felt as though I was going to hear Ventura Highway
@SaddleSoreSista1 I am tuned a half step down.
Excellent!
I personally; enjoyed your lesson, and hope you will not let cry babies discourage you from sharing your talent. Thank you... If you wouldn't mind, I know some would prefer that you let us know what tuning you are in. : ) That's about it. Peace Bro...
Best yet out of 4
Great chord structure but what is the reason for tuning down rather than playing it in the key of F where it belongs?
Nice lesson man! :-)
