You KNOW I was looking for the chords for this last night. I've loved this song since I was a little girl, and it was the first one I thought of when I heard the news about Glen Campbell. Thanks, Andy.
Good work Andy on your tutorial of the Glen Campbell's Hallmark and signature song "The Wichita Lineman". It really helped me master the song and get it included into my own repertiore. Cheers, Mike from Canada. 👍😀
What a well-produced, straightforward lesson! No nonsense or unnecessary delays/repeats. Just what I needed to decipher a classic cool song with somewhat elusive chords. Thank you sir! I'll be back to learn some more from you.
WOW!! I just found your youtube video here, and LOVE your very clear, concise, and PATIENT Explanations to each chord!! This was a Special Song for me in my late teens, and as I get back to playing my 50+ year old (custom made) Acoustic Guitar after massive shoulder surgery, I am EXCITED to stumble onto your UA-cam site here. You make it easy to understand and practice to. Many thanks, Andy!
Thanks Andy! I had the second part ( C "..and I need you more than want you...." I just needed the whole intro and the "searching in the ....." Great lesson, and thanks! ..you where the first one that popped up i believe. Cheers!
Wow! Andy….thank you for the lesson on this beautiful melody. I am I guess what might be determined as high beginner/upper middle proficiency with dash of licks and riffs. Your lesson was so easy for me to follow more so than anyone else’s. You really know how to break the lessons down so they are easy to follow. You have such a nice voice too. That’s a bonus. 😊
Thank you, Andy. Like Alex says below, you did a wonderful job, clear, precise, succinct. I can learn this song from what you put down. It got me to subscribe to your channel, which along with the like is some small payback for teaching me the song, but thanks again!
Thank you very much for your help with this. It's the first song that I actually learned the lyrics to besides the Rod Argent song. I've always wanted to get this guitar part down though so I could sing along with it. Excellent job by the way with the "telegraphing" d-d d-d note, I had to practice that e-f-e-c back to it. Very good class for this song and thank you again.
Thanks, Andy! Another excellent lesson. It's a shame that it seems we always have to wait until some great artist dies to bring good tunes like this out of mothballs - or for others of us to want to learn how to play them - but you picked an excellent tune for a tutorial and did it up right!
Andy. I learned this off you in half an hour and played along with the original.. you got it note perfect my friend.. made the hairs on my arms stand up
Excellent job! I was starting to get ocd about you singing " I can hear you singin' "on" the wire" since it's singin' "in" the wire, but then you changed it later. Lol!
I looked at the (quasi) official Webb sheet music and it's a little different. I think Glenn Campbell, being a super experienced studio musician, added a lot of little touches that improved voice leading, making all chord changes flow into one another seamlessly. F'ing brilliant.
Great lesson. Is the song in F? There's lots of borrowed chords in this song. Amazing how these borrowed chords (outside the diatonics) sound so good and how Glen makes them work!!
this is actually no so straightforward. Very very tricky. I'd say D minor (sort of), with a lot of F major, D major thrown in. F'ing brilliant and not a single trite, banal element in it.
much obliged andy. great song by Jimmy webb, lovely performed by uncle glen , great guitar player too, seems he played different chords in the UA-cam video's btw glen was playing with the beach boys too
Very nice, check out Glen's live version from his farewell tour after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, the concert DVD (also on Amazon Prime) is "I'll Be Me." The soundtrack is also on Spotify & probably iTunes. Very poignant & well sung. He dedicates it to Jimmy Webb who of course wrote it.
Dear Andy. Congratulations. This song is very dificult, but You Sir play and sing magnificetly. So now, give for us other magnificent gift : the fantastic song by Master Neil Youg " Twisted Road". Thank you and receive the big embrace of Your Friend in Brazil. Luiz Henrique
Another excellent video Andy, cheers, do you think it's important to play along with a metronome set to the speed of the original, or play at a tempo of your own personal choice?
I love your videos, and you are a great teacher!😁 Can you maybe make some tutorials of shawn mendes songs, I would really appreciate that :)❤ Have a Nice day, much love from Norway😄
hey Andy! I've been having a problem with my fingers sticking to the cords when i pull up. I am new to guitar and taking your 10 day guitar lesson on here, but i was just wondering how i might be able to fix this, or is it normal for this to happen in the beginning?
I've spent last two day trying how to smoothly go from E major to A major but still can't do it properly, even though I've never played a guitar before it seems really odd, or is it normal for a beginner?
Rest in peace Wichita Lineman....
Thank you for playing this.
You, Sir, are an absolute treasure. You give so much love to the song. Your chords are delightful - make my heart sing. Glen's smilin'.
Great American ballad, done right by English guitarist Andy. Cheers from South Carolina.
Your lessons are absolutely fantastic! Thanks for sharing one of my favourite songs!
Thanks Andy, I've been working on this for years but have never been able to play thru solidly. Your tutorial really helped and now I can play it.
