I heard Rick Beato say that and now I hear you agree with him. I also agree. I just love it. Glen Campbell was such an underrated guitar player for a guy who was one of the best.
Kind of an emotional song for me. Reminds of when I was young and my dad drove me on my paper route when the weather was bad. He’d be listening to the radio this was one of those songs from that era. And such a melancholy vibe to this song. Lost my dad 4 years ago. Every time I hear this song I think of Dad. Thanks for sharing Shane, love this song.
Sorry for your loss, I lost my own Dad two years ago. Certain songs have an effect on my memories where they can be so real. I go back and relive the past with him sometimes.
Sorry for your loss, Doug and Lee… I lost my Dad in January of 2023. A year ago. This song along with blue eyes crying in the rain were his favorites. ❤️🩹🎶
"And I need you more than want you....And I need you for all time..." I must have got something in my eye while learning this song. Thank you so much for teaching this.
Hey please enjoy my friend. It's a very hot summer day here in Ottawa, Canada today - I have to make the video super early in the morning before the big heat. Ugh. Shane
So glad you’ve taken this song on , looked at it many times but no one has broken it down in a manageable way. Of course you do what you do the best. Great job can’t wait to get at it .
I'm on day two watching this video. I remember back in the late 60's to early 70's, I watched the Glen Campbell Good Time Hour every week. Great TV show. BTW: you have a great voice.
Hey thank you Rodger - that really me as me a lot to me - Glen Campbell was a gentleman - and one hell of a guitar player/singer. My best to you and thanks for always being here. 😊🇨🇦👍
Thanks. I think that C9 chord was the anchor for this song . Never had heard it before 1968 in a pop song. I think I'll try it tuned down a half step so I can sing it (maybe)!
Agreed - they weren't afraid to add colour in the chords and in the arrangements back then....unlike nowadays where it's all so straight-ahead and mundane. Cheers, Shane
Hello Shane, I love your teaching style! You’re helping to push me to a level I never thought I’d get to. I’m working on sections of Witchita Lineman. You’ve got me playing chords I’ve never played. It’s such beautiful song! Anyway, we’re celebrating Thanksgiving here in the states in a few days and one of the things I’ll be saying thanks for is you. Thank you Shane. Peace my friend 🙏
Hi Shane ! What a song choice ! So worth the time it will take to learn these new chords. Glen Campbell will always be remembered as a member of the Wrecking Crew and one of the all time great guitarists. Can’t thank you enough for a lesson on this classic gem . Thanks again for what you do
Hey David - a big thank you for that. Hugely encouraging and we agree on all counts. Glen was a Gentleman - through and through. Best to you and thank you for taking the time to comment. Cheers, Shane

Happy New Shane! I hope 2025 is good to you and your loved ones. I’ve made good strides watching your videos. By the end of 2025 I hope I will be able to say I can play reasonably well. Old Man and Witchita Lineman are what I’m working on. Thank you!!!

The mutual admiration and friendship between Jimmy Webb and Glen Campbell endures in the genuine story telling that JW brings to his shows. Great lesson Shane, and hope to see more Jimmy Webb tunes featured in the years to come!
Awesome Shane. I love this classic and did learn it at one time. I'm going to re-learn it again using your arrangement and play it around my firepit this summer. Thanks for sharing.

Shane, this my favorite song of all time! What a great lesson you just gave, guess I’m gonna have to oil up the axe and give it a go!! Thanks for all of your lessons they’re the best!!
Glen Campbell -- great artist! Wichita Lineman -- great song! I knew it'd been around awhile, but 1968?! I would've guessed sometime in the '70s. I can remember hearing it on the car radio when I was a kid back then. Back when Atlanta's WSB-AM played music. Anyway -- great song and a great lesson as usual. I always love your playalongs. They make this channel unique compared to all the other tutorial channels on UA-cam. Thanks!

Love this song. It will be a fun one as I’m slowly getting back into my playing. Making sure I’m doing all my stretching and warmups and so far so good 🤞No numb or tingling fingers.
