SEQUENTIAL TURN LAMPS 4 EV6! The Epic Install
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 сер 2024
- In this epic video, we’re diving into the deep details to install the sequential turn indicators from the KIA EV6 sold outside of the United States. I made all the mistakes so you don’t have to!
This install requires purchasing those sequential turn indicators (typically from overseas), along with a special harness supplying the missing wiring from the US-spec car. This project is definitely not a beginner’s mod, and takes at least 3-4 hours. But oh man, do those sequential turn signals look ON POINT when you’re done! (skip to timecode 46:06 if what you want is a demo!)

Yes, great video thank you. Here in Australia we have separate amber turn signals, Euro style. Combination brake/red signals are strictly not allowed. They’re not sequential (although those are allowed).
So happy you did this video! You did a SUPERB job!! 👍🏽😃
I agree Kyle_11111 did a great job on the harness and the instructions. I added this to my GTLine two weeks ago. My biggest difficulties were 1) I missed one of the nuts holding the left light module to the car and fought for a long time before I found that, and 2) I didn't remove the extra screws holding the side trim pieces of the trunk, which makes it much more difficult to run the harness through to the door.
I ran the harness through the base of the B pillar, it looks tight but does fit. I didn't think the new wires would fit through the grommet with the existing wires, so I sliced a notched flap into the grommet and fed them through that. I would have liked to have seen how they look when you got that in there. Putting the final trim on the hatch sill was an issue for me, the weather seal wanted to go beneath it, and it took a bit of effort to get the seal over that section of trim.
Thanks for the B-pillar tip! The trim wasn't much of an issue for me -- I had to use my finger, however, to make sure the weatherstripping was over the plastic piece. That just required patience. I didn't take a video of the grommet, I was just too sweaty and in a rush at that point! But it was difficult to feed the wire thru the grommet, if I had to do it again I probably would have made a small cut in the middle and fed the wires thru that like you suggest.
Kyle just needs to start manufacturing harnesses again! Next project... maybe.
Built my own harness... and PCB too. Notes: the trailer hitch connector provides a 'clean' brake light signal (not power) and ground (but ground can be used from the original brake connector). Front two wires are getting 'clean' turn signal lights (US rear brake/turn are combined on one wire). PCB with relays builds a Hazard Actuator (solid, not sequential for hazards as you stated). Front projector lights can also use the same PCB, just need a wire to the headlamps.
Great video and looks great on your GT! Kyle did a great job with the custom harness. If you do a video tutorial on the install of the matrix light project that would be awesome. That is the next project I’d want to accomplish but it’s more advance.
I decided I didn't want to install the matrix lights -- they are expensive and that install looked even more involved.
@@ev_kimchi yeah it involves more work :(
should have been standard in the states as well!!!
Wonder why they didn't just connect to the trailer plug, as it should have tail, brake and indicator wiring for left and right.
Great video! Do you happen to have a demonstration, or can share one, of what hazards looks like with this done? Thank you!! ❤
I do not, but can make one. Will send a link. Hazards flash and do not do sequential like the turn signals
Why don't you use the power from the original signals light at the rear to power those lights?
There's an amazing hacker who created the harness I use. Cannot tell you why the power from the original brake lights isn't sufficient, but I suspect it is because the power isn't sufficient for the sequential signals and/or the PCB that controls the logic.
Good tutorial, would you by chance plan to do a similar video with the projector headlights aswell? The ones you also have to ship from overseas.
I decided not to do the projector headlamps. Very expensive and involved!
Great video. Are these sequential turn lights LEGAL once you installed them ?
If a cop is giving me a ticket for using my turn signals, I've got way more problems at that traffic stops than meeting DOT turn signal regulations...
Looks great fortunately we get them in the uk as standard
lucky you!!
You're right, I just checked mine, funny I never noticed that we had it already
And the rest of the world which fortunately have the amber lights separated from the brakes (with Canada & US having the brake lights and turn signals combined as an exception).
need a little help. at the 9:15 section of your video, you were able to pop out that whole section using an air bag. i'm having trouble with that. i have the air bag in and have followed your video to a T but that darned thing wont pop out. ive tried a plastic shim tool, nudging it, gently banging it etc... any advice for me?
Thanks.
any one there??? still no luck. havent used a hammer yet to bash the thing out but thats Plan D!
Great video, but it's kind of strange that this isn't just plug and play by simply replacing the sequential signals. I ws excited until I saw how much &^%$ I have to take apart.
Great install video. You plan on doing the headlights as well? I should of made a video when I installed mine.
I think I might have gotten this out of my system with the taillights LOL
tell me to buy?
hazard lights?
Hi, can I bring you my car ? You will do a better job of me ? It’s should be standard on all Kia EV6 , you did a great job congratulation
I would love to know if anyone does the headlights and tail lights upgrades commercially. I would gladly pay for these to be installed.
Not that I know of -- it's a pretty involved adventure, however! The headlights are too hardcore for me -- you have to do programing to get the full matrix functionality. Hopefully the late-2024 mid-cycle refresh (spy photos are out now) will have KIA improve the headlights and bring matrix LEDs to the US market, now that they're legal.
I can’t believe they didn’t make them standard in the US!!!
There are Federal regulations in the US for things like turn signals, and it's a shame that KIA didn't design these lights from the outset to meet those regulations
@@ev_kimchiwhat regulations prohibit these?
@@fadedchickenold laws that needed to be updated like 20 years ago
$760?!?!? wow!! looks great but too much.
Yeah I saw the price the other day and was like wow as well. These should be no more than $400 for both. Hopefully they will make some aftermarket ones soon. Along with some aftermarket projector headlights as I don't need the matrix ones so much. Just better visibility that's all. Lastly some fog lights as well.
As others have said these should've been standard. Other stock cars have them so why not with this? It just doesn't make any sense.
