Yeah you got a good one there and the TH 400 is really easy to rebuild if needed. Show no fear and take a transmission class at a junior college. The 400 engine will get you 8 mpg around town hot rodding it or with bald thin tires at 55mph upwards of 15 mpg. I wish I never gave up 69 model SJ I rebuilt everything on it. Then I blew up the 428 HO engine using AV-Gas with pump gas mixture, don't do that.
Change fluids on car try take better car of the car this is valuable car not just joy rider put new tires on it and buff the paint it wouldn't let you down this is Pontiac
It drove normal so I believe it is working, the hard driving on and off the gas was me intentionally holding it in first if that's what you were looking at. I was trying to see if doing that would help the rings and it quit smoking so I guess it did
Mechanical secondary carb side/ vacuum advance / points/ compression / 293 gear/AC car at 30/35 mph with kick down correct and g78 14's will bust loose grab second in drive !! / Owned 11 of these cars still holding ✌️

You have a very nice car!! Please flush out that old coolant and put in a 160 degree thermostat and keep up the good work.
The car got some basic maintenance and went to a new owner. We got it going for the old owner so it would be an easier sell

Get going about 30/35 stab it you'll know if it working 👍 in drive let it shift itself
