On these I like to gwt the bucket seats, steering column among a few other things. I took the 400 from a 71 GP that will be going im 76 firebird. My bird came from the factory with an olds 350. Here is the video of that 71 GP if you haven't seen it. ua-cam.com/video/htz5-wBHtQk/v-deo.html
When I was in elementary school, they had a coke machine that put out glass bottles of coke for 25 cents USD. This was back in the mid 80s when glass was common, and they were 16oz. I would say that machine is late 80s, but more likely early 90s. Which is not saying much. Depending on who owned the machines, the owners set the price. My elementary school owned and loaded that machine, so price was kept low. Had an outside vendor owned and loaded it, it would have been about what the sodas went for in any gas station at the time. When I was in high school (class of 96), machines were all dropping cans. They cost at that time was 50 cents a can. I am sure the school owned those machines as well.
Love the Coca-Cola machines especially being a fan of Coca-Cola to drink & collect. The steering wheel looked like was from a Chevrolet truck, Blazer or Suburban but could be wrong.
Whoa Nelley, 35 cents for a Coke? That's no joke. That's either someone that had an old machine, or didn't charge much. I remember a can of soda being about 50 cents around 1980, so might be older than that. If you don't see a Diet Coke button, that might indicate a pre 1982 machine as Diet Coke came out on August 25, 1982. It's an El C, and that's good for me. We got the tag, we can brag: 07B for the second week of July 1966 production, 66 for 1966 model year, 13680 for Malibu Series El Camino, KAN for Kansas City, MO (Leeds) assembly plant, 748 for red interior and I think the A suffix means bench seating, C-C for upper and lower Ermine White exterior paint, and W for tinted windshield only, RPO code "A02". We got the VIN, we win: 1 for Chevrolet, 35 for Malibu six cylinder, 80 for pickup/delivery body style, 6 for 1966 model year, K for Leeds, MO assembly plant and the rest is the production sequence. Whoa Nelley, part 2. It's a GP and it's good for me (times 2). We got that tag, so we can brag: 70 for 1970 model year, 27657 for two door Grand Prix body style, BF for Fremont, CA assembly, trim of 295 for Saddle interior trim, 50 for Sierra Yellow/Gold exterior paint, E should be a saddle/Sierra vinyl top, and 11A for the first week of November 1969 production. We didn't get the VIN, so we don't win, but I got it figured out, no doubt: 2 for Pontiac, 76 for Grand Prix, 57 for two door hardtop, 0 for 1970 model year, Z for Fremont, CA assembly and the rest is the production sequence. It's GM times two, it's over for you. Time to quit, that's it. Once roamed the land, now they're just bland. On the road of the Lone Star State, now not so great. They're going to be squished and we're very pissed.
A friend of mine has a 70 Grand prix gunmetal grey metallic with black leather interior with a 1970 400 Ram Air 4 the car looks awesome it's all black and gun metal grey with dark tinted windows the car looks so cool
My eyes was in tears when seen shape of 65 Elcamino considered restoring a 74 model myself mann 70 Abody GP was nice car u should definitely grab those rims, front & back bumper.
I would regard this as the third generation GP as there was enough difference between the 1964 and 1968 models before this 1969, 1970 series. It is SJ for the high spec model. Doesn’t look like much left apart from rear bumper and lamps and maybe those Olds wheels. The Coke machine was cool. I would have grabbed that.
Aah yes.. Poor ole girl. I always thought these big old American cars were classics, even back in the 60's and 70's too, when people felt the gas pinch. You could pick up a luxurious car for next to nothing. I always thought they were classics when new, and they still look beautiful rusting away from the sky tears of the junk yard. I also notice they are ..slightly more expensive now.
There's a lot of guys looking for parts from these on Facebook in a Gran Prix group. This one hurts, too. My dad bought one of these brand new, and it was the first car I drove when I went to high school. Even in Texas those trunk lids rotted out, I see. In NY ours was bad in 1980. Door handles broke easy on those too. Steering wheel in trunk is for something else, Pontiac would be a three spoke deal I believe. My dad's had the optional woodgrain wheel. I would have picked the rocker trim, the console insert, maybe the dash pad, the cluster, door mirror, and some other trim. I know for sure a guy in that FB group wants a rear window, too, but what a pain in the rear to try to pack and ship one. Taillight lenses, too. I would imagine it did have a tilt with all those other options. A 455 wouldn't surprise me either.
Damn there's almost nothing left on the GP. Dunno if you were able to get anything Benny, but the grille inserts are still nice and can sell if they don't fit yours. But the door handles are real neat and maybe some of the power window wiring can be used. What did you get Benny?
Hopefully you got the gauges out of that Grand Prix? They are the same as a 1970-71 GTO. I have the feeling that was a 455 HO car and the rear end had been changed out with a Olds 10 bolt. I bet it originally had a 12 bolt rear end.
The dent in the tailgate is concerned I picked up one of those spot weld dent pullers when they first came out! Makes dents like that a breeze. The 70 Chevelle is done and gone! With parts and labor I made around $35/hr. on it. Hate taking a pay cut. 1970 GTO maybe my next one.
Hood alone is worth a few hundred dollars. Lots of small parts worth selling. A shame it will probably all just be scrap metal and not saved. I'd be on it like fly on you know what.
Hahaha that Pontiac looks like it was found here in Saskatchewan. That's the kind of rust we deal with on a regular basis.... sweet car though, & another cool video....

Im dropping a 400 from 71 GP into a 77 firebird that unfortunately came with a weak olds 350
I just love them old gran prix I live in Britain so will never get to own one thanks for sharing though 🙂
9 years old in 1970. When this Grand Prix was Brand New! What a Nice ride back in here day!

Most likely the GP had a 400 4bl.with a turbo 400.I would have loved to have seen it in November of '69.Or November of '95.
Probably so. By 1995 it probably had a mechanical issue that laid it up.
