My all time favorite car. I feel in love the first time that I saw one on the showroom floor of the local Pontiac dealership in September, 1968. I have always wanted one, but I have never had one.
Damn those '69 GPs look great! I own a '99 GTP Grand Prix coupe and have had three second gen Rivs, maybe next time a 'nice '69 will be in my garage. Color me jealous!
We had a ‘68 LeMans we purchased the previous May. So, when the ‘69s came out, we had to look. The Tempest line, which contained the LeMans series, changed some, but the lines were the same. However, when I saw the Grand Prix SJ for that year, my 13 year old little heart was in love. To me, that was the sexiest, meanest, sportiest personal luxury car ever. I was so taken with it, the salesmen on the lot noticed and brought me out all the brochures they had for it. By the by, our LeMans had that same growl. Distinctively Pontiac.
My sister in law had a 69, blue blue w a 400, automatic, learned how to drive in that car, fast car, great dash, I own a 73 455 SJ now, nowhere near as fast, but loaded w options including sunroof, love my Ponchos
Gentleman, I'm bout to restore mine to its original form. It runs fine but need a lot of tlc. It was a gift from my dad about 12yr back...Awesome ride in this video and of course it make me cherish mine even more. May God Speed & Semper Fi
Beautiful car I was ten years old when I started driving a 1971 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J. I haven't had the opportunity to buy one because it is very expensive.
Oh man! I had a 69. It had front end damage when I got it. I drove it without the hood. That was a long time ago. The 69 Grand Prix in this video is like an Eldorado Gone Wild! What a hot car. All the right proportions. My dad always said the dash look like it should be in an airplane. Very pretty classy Grand Prix.
I owned a 1970 SJ 4 speed 455 but I also owned a 69 SJ auto (base motor in 69 SJ 370 horse 428 XF ) all though manuels are rare the auto 69 428 SJ was GONE! No contest even out of the hole with a compitent Manuel driver )
How about the 3 rubber brake hoses should be replaced every 5 years. Plus bringing car out of storage use of marvel mystery oil in fuel and oil loosen up everything
Well I have made the MISTAKE of watching a LOt of these GP videos today--- NOW I miss the two I had and WANT THEM BACK.. but can't afford the tires on one right now.. ha. Oh well...
I was in a head on collision with a Chevrolet suburban that crossed the center line. Fortunately the size of the front of the car along with what it was made of and the fact that I was wearing both the lap and shoulder belts let me walk away with only bruises from the belts which was far better than the unbelted other driver who had massive head and chest injuries from the steering wheel. I hope you were buckled up and not injured.

Where did you get the GP octagon logo on the wall in your garage?
Cars had style back then.
She seems like it hesitates a bit. They are known for that especially if they aren’t driven much. May need a good carb cleaning
Still have,, want to sell?
dont forget to check all the lights
For sale?

A 4 speed Luxury hotrod pontiac. Long before the feminine econobox BS foriegn appliances we have today.
Take that thing for a drive on the highway
I would get in, buckle up both the lap and shoulder belts, get on the road and put her through the paces.
When I was 17 yrs old a friend had this same car and man, it was a monster , first car i went a 145 mph in.
Well I have made the MISTAKE of watching a LOt of these GP videos today--- NOW I miss the two I had and WANT THEM BACK.. but can't afford the tires on one right now.. ha. Oh well...
Gem
Take that EPA!
It would have been more better if you would have left the dirt on the car so we could have seen the whole process
This car has the longest hood out of any car right?
Correct when it came out in 69', it had the longest hoof of any car at that time.
Nice car How about fixing that Exhaust leak, Sounds like shit
Needs some Magnaflow exhaust on that GP
Call the town to repair the tarmac by the curb, their responsibility
