I’ve heard or seen somewhere that she’s a professional chef. But that aside she’s an amazing woman who like you, makes the mass quantity cooking look easy.
I watched her and many Italians can tomatoes and they don't add any lemon juice. I hate lemon juice or citric acid added to my tomatoes, its makes them sour so I stopped doing it. My tomatoes burn even the slightest cut in my hand so I know theyre acid enough. Plus I tested the ph, theyre 4.2 so why add souring additives to our fresh sweet tomatoes, it ruins them.
I did an experiment this past year with my onions in the UP: I had planted my onions from seed and many were just tiny at the end of the season. I decided, "what do I have to lose? They're too small to use, I'll just leave them all winter and see what happens!" Well, they survived our 320+ inches of snow and became respectable sized onions in the last few weeks. So I'm doing it with all of them this year! Shocked that it worked! 😳
I can’t believe you’re talking about that couple from Azerbaijan! I fell down the rabbit hole watching their videos! I was fascinated by all they do without electricity/running water and everything looks amazing.
I started watching the country life clog during the pandemic. They are fust fascinating and it is all old-world techniques I think we should all pay attention to. I love them.
I started watching you this winter. You have helped me so so much. My 300 sq ft garden is not as big as yours, but boy have I learned so much. Thank you for teaching me.
I love that we aren't the only ones who eat more than 400 onions in a year! Lol! Thank you Rachel for taking us along your pre- coffee morning. You two are such a great team. 🥰🌻🦋🧅
I love watching Country Life Vlog. The farmland is beautiful and I love the way she does everything. No talking, just nature sounds and watching her and her husband working the land. And have you noticed how all of the animals just hang out together and play with each other? I so love that! I bought an 18qut roaster from the thrift store for $20 I think, last year and have dying to use it. So this years garden sucked so bad. Nothing did well at all but I have been able to use my roaster and I'm using it now with my onions (I had to buy).
I love country life Vlog also. It's Paradise on Earth where people get to use their bodies like we were designed to do. They also have another one that's a foreign name. The early ones were mostly around their little house out in the country where they keep their sheep. The s o n is such a great photographer!
I have been a fan of the Azerbaijani channel for some time, to the point, that for Christmas 🎄 I was gifted a Samovar 🤩. I’m very happy to say while I only discovered you a few months back, I am trying to power watch as much as I can while staying up to date. And while you may have been taught the best way to peel onions 🧅 by the Azerbaijan lady Aziza, I have actually been taught it by you, because I obviously have missed that episode xx So, Thank You 🙏 Rachel, when I eventually get my first onion harvest, I look forwarding to peeling them “ Your “ way. Much love 💕 Wales 🏴 UK 🇬🇧
This is the first time I have seen you're challel.l Learned it from. Leslie's channel The Farmer's Pastors Wife. Leslie said to tell you hello. She is the sweetest lady love her channel.
Can't remember that Channel name either and I also watched that tomato preserving video, but their videos are beautiful and that lady is SO productive.
@countrylifeblog is the most zen of homesteading channels. They use to own a restaurant and then I think during COVID returned to their home. Make you want to go to Azerbaijan…maybe one day they’ll take it off the no fly list!
I always save my onion tops too! I pull off the dead parts and slice up the rest. I put them in a big ziploc bag and use them just like I would onions. Then I can add a handful to my recipes. Such a great way to eat most of the plant.
I love that channel. I stumbled upon one of their videos a while back and I've loved them ever since. I even started learning a new language because of their channel.
I binge watched that channel during our second Sydney lockdown last year, it had 2million subs, now over 4 million. It’s wonderful how much their life has changed since their youtube took off.
Oh my, the lady from the Country life blog, I would love to have her for about one week, what she processes it's amazing. You did good for onions, mine didn't come at all. I don't know what happened.
I love that woman from Azerbaijan. I watch her all the time, but I am confused by the differences in her videos. Some people are saying she does not live in the places, but it is a set for a tv show she is doing in her country. I don’t know, but I love watching her, and the scenery and photography is stunning. I always chuckle at the massive quantities she prepares.
It is called Country Life Vlog or Kend Heyeti. Her name is Aziza. Husbands name is Aysel. It is not a TV set. It is their home and surrounding village. Her son, a former chef, films for them. She is real. Her home is real. All of it is real.
That vege chopper is my favourite too :) My husband hates it cos it is SO LOUD - I love him to pieces but I do have an evil smirk on my face when i am using it LOL :) xxx
Hi Rachel. Sorry you didn't have enough onion's for harvest. The channel you were talking about, I watch it when I get the chance. Country Side Vlog is the best. So happy you found the time to watch her. Have a great day with the harvest. See you later. Maria. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I watch Constance on the regular, love her. Kand Hayati is the other u tube channel. I found them a couple months ago....they are amazing!!! I loved her big knife so much I had to buy one similar. 💜💙💜💙
Country Life Vlog is how I started the journey that eventually led me here, from Azerbaijan to practically in my own backyard. It truly is a small, beautiful world. 🌎
Rachel, the birds @6:30. Try flash tape. I place sticks or stakes randomly with 8"-10" of flash tape tied around the tops. Just a few of these flashy little flags will scare away a lot of birds.
I must live in the Antarctic or Siberia I planted a lot of my stuff same as you and I have yet to harvest anything my goodness you are yielding a great deal wonderful job Rachel
Your lucky to have what you got, for every time I planted onion seeds none grew. The other day I watched a squirrel jump from one tote to another then run out to my big garden and sniff around to area I planted different seeds. If it weren't for the Egyptian walking onions I have I wouldn't have any. I was going to mention all the green tops I would freeze dry in your Harvest Right and when dry powder them in a blender when they are done. I powder a lot of things to cook with. Keep up the good work I love your show. My Amish friend told me to put Frankincense oil under your tongue and a lot of you pain will go away. Pick some up at your Amish store next time your at your cabin. It really works.
I love onions so much.. sometimes I'll just throw a few in a frying pan with a little bit of butter so I'll tell them a little then crack a few eggs on top flip them over and eat them just like that
Yes! i watch her as well! Does she live in the garden of Eden? I mean, everything you can think of is right there. I am so hooked watching her! Amazing!!!! No English, but so easy to follow. It's beautiful where they are. She is such a hard worker and her husband, and Son??? Love it!!!
Hi Rachel , Looks like a pretty good crop of onions , I myself have smallish onions this year because of the extreme heat . Always a pleasure to visit...
Hi Rachel! Thank you for the inspiration of new recipes. I went to an Amish farm coop yesterday. Tomatoes, jalapeños and onions made it into my car. I have made your cowboy candy recipe and onion maple jam. Oh my gosh, it is so good. I also made French onion soup today. Tomorrow I plan on making tomato soup, sauce and diced tomatoes. Thanks to you and Todd for such great videos!
Thank you Rachael. It is my first year growing onions. Mine are small too but I am so happy that I gave this a try. Next year I will be ready to do better.
I love Country Life. I have ALSO said that they feed each other as a village. Maybe each bringing something to the "table". I also wonder why we left that sense of community behind. At least that's what I day dream anyway 😊
Rachel, I have that chopper you are using and I love it. It’s called the Vidalia Chop Wizard, available on Amazon. I use it for my onions, peppers and jalapeños. It saves so much time! I am not able to garden in my area but I do get a lot from farmers markets and going to try canning the maple onion jam this year. You and Todd are a delight to watch. Thanks for the inspiration!
I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but the channel "Lynette Yoder" mentioned and linked your channel. She is using you as a resource to learn to pressure can. I think that is quite a testament to you and your channel.
I just got my third chopper bc I use it so hard & had them so long, I break the the blades. I broke down & got one w/ stainless steel blades. Much easier to use bc of the handle(I have arthritis in my hands) I love it. It’s made by Mueller. Will put it to good use tomorrow, I’m canning vegetable soup.
I get like that too, sometimes I just need to sit, & prep my veggies in the living room watch a movie. I need to set my porch up with a cushion. My daughter made me a bench from an old head/foot boards it's beautiful but not real comfy, plus I have a swing. One of these days I'll finish decorating with cushions etc.....
Yes, yes, yes! I can't wait until you go to the farmers market. I've been wondering where you go for those beautiful big boxes of onions and inexpensive potatoes! If you know of any good ones on the west side of the state, please share! The ones in Grand Rapids tend to be more hipster, and its hard to even find large quantities for canning. Just tiny little baskets to make a trendy dinner. This is my first year gardening, and we got a very late start. No potatoes or onions, and likely not enough of anything else. So I will need to purchase a lot.
When I do caramelised onions I chop them in the food processor. Makes quick work and we seem to like our onions on the smaller size for recipes. Usually a jam jar is the perfect size for most recipes.
I do watch that couple, that are off grid, they are awsome, that's funny that's just what I thought too feeding the village unless they have multiple children
I can't believe we watch the same channels!! Did dilly beans last night. I know they are not your favourite, but my daughters love them with salmon. I still have fresh onions from last year hanging in the dinning room and looking towards this year's harvest. I grow about 1400 of onions every year, it does the preserving and cooking for the year, all from sets. Good luck!
I love Country life and Wilderness cooking too. So calming and intriguing to watch . Well done on the onions that made it to harvest. They went through a lot. Lol. Thank you for sharing lovely ❤
Hi Rachel, we subscribed to A Good Life Farm and excited about watching and learning. That's amazing how cool it is where you are. We are at day 56 over 100 and not a drop of rain. Mike and I watch the news in the morning and every day fires are breaking out. We hang our onions in the mud room in mesh bags and they will stay cured for months. This weekend we are going to start making bacon maple jam, caramelized onions and onion relish. Many Blessings, Rochelle
I love watching your channel to learn but I love watching that channel where they do the giant water bath canning because it's nice to have as background stuff and appeases my harvesting heart during the winter.
I made your French onion soup with yellow, sweet and red onions and it turned out amazing. I invested in a mandolin slicer because I don’t have a Todd.
Oh, yes! I love to watch Azerbaijani channel. I actually purchased a couple of style cleavers she uses and a Samovar for myself. I find them to be very interesting! I grew onions for the first time this year, and they so far a very small, but I have a few onions so I'm considering it a success (of sorts). I use my food processor for my sliced onions to save time and my eyes.
I have the tool for dicing onions and mine says " Vidalia Chopper" on the lid and it came with 4 different patterns of chopping. I found it on Amazon. Sutton's Daze used one too.
Rachel and Constance: thank you for the onion recipe! I made it a couple of weeks ago. A staple for us also. And Rachel, I canned in small jars like you, however, i am making more. I don't want it to be precious! 💖
Im so making your carmelized onions and sweet onion jam this year!! Been watching those videos and sounds so delicious. Plus you use them on your What we Eat videos and loos so yummy!! I need to buy onions though (sad face) mine didn't turn out at all. But......we are loving your canned cabbage slaw recipe!! It's delicious! I watch that channel also in the foreign country. Her flowers amaze me!! She always sets such a nice table for their meals too. Take care and keep those videos coming.

I watch that lady in the other country and am so impressed with them. I wish I could visit them.
Love those videos of the lady cooking outside! I watch them before I go to bed- to relax!😊
Can't remember that Channel name either and I also watched that tomato preserving video, but their videos are beautiful and that lady is SO productive.
I have been watching Country Life Vlog for a while. I love it so inspiring.

Me too! Also dehydrating is good too!
I dry my onion tops and my onions. That way I have them for the whole year.
Yes!! We dehydrate for green onion powder!
When we have a lot I freeze them in ice cube tray’s with a little oil to cook with .
Becky from Acre Homestead turns all of hers into pesto.
I love that channel. I stumbled upon one of their videos a while back and I've loved them ever since. I even started learning a new language because of their channel.

I honestly don't see how she could be that good at all she does if it wasn't her life. I have often wondered as well.
It is called Country Life Vlog or Kend Heyeti.
Her name is Aziza. Husbands name is Aysel.
It is not a TV set. It is their home and surrounding village.
Her son, a former chef, films for them.
She is real. Her home is real. All of it is real.
What is the name if the channel? I would love to check her out.
It's a TV Show filmed on her family's land and she is a _Chef,_ who is very well known in her country.
That vege chopper is my favourite too :) My husband hates it cos it is SO LOUD - I love him to pieces but I do have an evil smirk on my face when i am using it LOL :) xxx

She scares me with that big knife lol I’m sure I would manage to cut off a finger(or two) if I tried to use one😩
Yes, that is the one I have subscribed to, I didn't realize it was two channels!
WOW! Congratulations on your harvest!
Aww, thank you. 😊 I’m hoping this coming year to have a good onion harvest. We’ll see how it goes.
Country Life Vlog is how I started the journey that eventually led me here, from Azerbaijan to practically in my own backyard. It truly is a small, beautiful world. 🌎
And thanks to UA-cam's algorithm, I'm subscribed to 14 Azerbaijani channels! And a few from Iran and Turkey. 😁
I love that show. She is an inspiration. I did hear that they do cook for the whole village when they do a video.
As the only person in our home to eat red onions, I love puny onions!
I watch her too... for about 3 years now.... it is food for only her family for the winter. I've picked up some good recipes from her too🥰
Rachel, the birds @6:30. Try flash tape. I place sticks or stakes randomly with 8"-10" of flash tape tied around the tops. Just a few of these flashy little flags will scare away a lot of birds.

Thank God for Turbo-Todd! I need me one of them!

I love onions so much.. sometimes I'll just throw a few in a frying pan with a little bit of butter so I'll tell them a little then crack a few eggs on top flip them over and eat them just like that
❤ed the little "blooper" at the end. ☺ Hope you're feeling better! 💗
Love the b roll shots at the beginning! Nice touch 👌
Beautiful intro..great music and view of your amazing yard.
Yes! i watch her as well! Does she live in the garden of Eden? I mean, everything you can think of is right there. I am so hooked watching her! Amazing!!!! No English, but so easy to follow. It's beautiful where they are. She is such a hard worker and her husband, and Son??? Love it!!!
What a beautiful opening to your video! As always, such good ideas for preserving harvests.
Hi Rachel , Looks like a pretty good crop of onions , I myself have smallish onions this year because of the extreme heat . Always a pleasure to visit...
Having onions on hand like this has been a game changer. I love your jam recipes.
The opening views of your property were beautiful! I'll have to try that onion peeling technique. I hope your back feels better!
Thank you again for sharing! I did the Caramelized onion-maple jam yesterday. I cannot wait to try.
Loved the intro!!! The music and quiet look at the farm was sweet.
Thanks for that. I wrote it down!
I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but the channel "Lynette Yoder" mentioned and linked your channel. She is using you as a resource to learn to pressure can. I think that is quite a testament to you and your channel.
I love it when youtubers I love and watch religiously mention other youtubers I love and watch religiously XD
The green stems are great dehydrated
God bless you, prayers for your health 🙏🙏🙏
I got 3000 onion starts to do the caramelized onions this summer!
RACHEL! What in the world is that super cool tool you have for the ziplock bag??? I need one
It’s a bag holder. I think they have them on Amazon. Check their Amazon store through their channel, it might be there.
a subscriber sent them to us as a gift, they are these i think: amzn.to/3OUeIVJ
I love watching your channel to learn but I love watching that channel where they do the giant water bath canning because it's nice to have as background stuff and appeases my harvesting heart during the winter.
the tops of the onin is my favorite
I made your French onion soup with yellow, sweet and red onions and it turned out amazing. I invested in a mandolin slicer because I don’t have a Todd.
Your onion harvest looks fantastic compared to mine. My red onions were so small, I pressure canned them as pearl onions..lol
It looks like Vidalia Chop Wizard.
