The Bridgeport bridge looks familiar to me. I actually took my bicycle on that bridge twice when going from Toronto to Kitchener on a one-day bike tour. Thank you for sharing buddy!
Just getting a start on this series today. Loving it so far. Brings back memories of Bingemans from when I was a kid. Thank you for mentioning the site number. I may take my kids there later this summer and so nice to see how close to the river your site was. When I was young we went with a trailer
Thanks, I'm glad to hear that you're loving the series! Also, that's helpful to know that the site number is useful. I'm working on a trip map which I'm going to post online for the benefit of others who might want to try paddling the same route as me. I will now also include the campsite numbers that I stayed at.
Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. I've used the "Canoeing the Grand" service where they drop you off upstream with rented canoes and you just drift / paddle back down to their location. It's quite an enjoyable outing. Great for first time paddlers.
Great adventure and thanks for sharing it. Sending to link to my daughter who lives in Waterloo. Question, who is in the scenes taken from a bridge? It looks like you but I assume you didn't do it remotely. Or, did you have a drone?
Funny/sad...I lived in K-W for 22y, yet had virtually no contact with the Grand (unless I went out of town). Crossed the bridge(port) a number of times... Cambridge is better situated WRT the river!
Aside from biking on a short section of the Walter Bean Trail a few times, I really never had any direct contact with the Grand during my 5 years as a student in Waterloo. Despite this, I still felt the presence of the river because it seemed like many things in the area were named after the Grand River, such as the GRT (Grand River Transit).
Great video Christopher! That looks like a huge campground! It's nice to see that there is still a lot of natural landscapes along the river, and not a lot of development, through this section anyway. Did you get a drone?
Thanks! I believe it's the largest private campground I've ever stayed at. I was truly expecting that I'd be passing tons of houses built on the river during my time in Waterloo, Kitchener and Cambridge but that certainly wasn't the case. Yes, I did indeed get a drone.
@@cjhoyle Very cool! Hope you have fun with the drone! By the way, I went on my first overnight bike trip last night! I'll be making a full video of the trip for UA-cam!
@@cjhoyle Thank Christopher! This will be my first time putting together a UA-cam video like this, a kind of trip/vlog style video, so it's probably going to be a little rough around the edges, but I'm excited!
Who wouldn't watch this to the end, I did twice :-) Thanks a lot for your good mood and for sharing all the details of the beautiful river.
Haha I appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed it...twice!
Can't believe I missed this series ,always very enjoyable.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved the video - this section of the Grand and with the sunshine it looks like a perfect way to spend a day.
Thanks, I was really lucky with the weather that day!
We did this section of the Grand last summer with a group, two canoes and four kayaks. Really enjoyed revisiting it with you!
That's awesome! Glad you enjoyed it.

Nice! I remember riding my bike across that bridge back when I was student.
@@cjhoyle Was that the bridge on Highway 8 though?
@@anthonyarmata4525 Highway 8 has a different bridge. I paddled under it on Day 3.
@cjhoyle ok then that’s the bridge I rode across then. Just after Preston Heights.
@@anthonyarmata4525 That sounds more like the Freeport Bridge. Quite similar to the Bridgeport Bridge but longer and older.
This has been my favorite canoe video. This river is a lot like the rivers I’ve canoed in Iowa and Michigan. Thanks!
Awesome, thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I'm really enjoying your trip videos, CJ!
Thanks, glad you're enjoying them!
Great video, good paddle as well on this portion of the Grand. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! This was a really beautiful section of the river.

Great view CJ, hope your not getting water logged paddling all that way!
Thanks. Haha nope, nice and dry inside the canoe!

Thanks Ken. Yes those are shots of me canoeing, filmed with a drone.
