  • Patio gardening on a budget, It's time for some harvests, planting out more summer veg including chillies and also an update on the dwarf fruit trees. I'll demonstrate just how much food can be grown in a tiny amount of space all on an extremely low budget. This is patio gardening on a budget
A lot of these ideas are ideal for a balcony garden, no need for fancy or expensive planters grow with what's available.

Renewing the compost in a container is a very important point.

Thank you! Love the fact that your compost looks like "real" compost - most on other channels look like it's def bought in...

Thank you so much for this, you've really helped me . I decided to watch while I was prepping the evening meal and lo and behold, I find out from you what's spoiling some of my container grown chard. Now to try and sort it out 😊 Many thanks.

I also have an apple tree (Braeburn) growing in a pot. I was thinking of planting it in the ground because it drys up quickly on hot days. It has produced quite a lot of apples for its size and there are loads on it this year. Should I try and take out some of the old compost when the tree is dormant and replace it with fresh, or is there something I should be feeding it with ?
I love how you manage to grow so much in your garden. It's great how your children join in, nice to see children outside in the fresh air.

Leaf miners are a real nuisance, have you got lots of flowers planted? the more parasitic wasps we can attract the better

I grew a decent sized mustard to seed and before I could harvest the seeds a storm blew through and this year I have mustard growing everywhere. You can tell which way the wind blew

My carrots have been very very slow and I’m glad I’m not the only one. Again with the beans they are very very slow.

It took 3 plantings to get them going this year, germination has been really poor

@@MyFamilyGarden yea I think I did 3 and in one area I had to do more as the dogs jumped in the grow bag to get their ball lol and that area had seed tape to start with.
It was all new seed for this year and outta 4 types including the tape only one type has taken. I was at the point of giving up. Gotta try again with my parsnip seeds as they not taken either

You've taught me so much . Thank you for taking the time to share your experience . I devoted my garden to roses and perennials as I knew nothing about growing food. I have now allocated a small narrow space down the side of my house for growing veggies with thanks to your videos. I have full sun on one side and shade on the other that probably gets around 2 to 3 hours a day. Is there anything I can grow in the more shaded area?
