I started using wood Ash 8 years ago and I have eliminated wire worm and scab so definitely worth using. Woodchips are a gardener's best friend.
    ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.

I've never tried spuds in the ground with wood chips, luckily, my allotment is right next door to the wood chip pile, so think I'll give this method a go this year (along with the 30 litre bucket method)

I think I'm going to try this this year. I recently had a delivery of woodchip that's too fine really for paths. I was just going to use it to mulch but this sounds like a great idea - thank you for sharing.

I've just started with 2 raised beds and I've used woodchip as a border around them. I think I'll bang some spuds in there now cheers. Ramadam mubarak

Do you think you could grow with wood chips in bags? Maybe with 20cm of earth in the bottom them wood chip on top?

I think potatoes grow in just about any soil, woodchip, munure ect.So this year I am going to space them out on the grass, cover with wood chips & not do anything else.

My fire is dual fuel, i use oak and smokeless coal, i cant use that can I because of the coal? I would need to clean the fire ash and just burn wood and then use that I think

Persistant mulch and hoeing will weaken it eventually, but it will take a long time
