Also, on a side note, you actually convinced me to get a G-shock via your videos on those watches, as I just picked up the dw5600e-1v. Keep up the solid work!
Love the museum watches with automatic calibers and could give a sh*t what anyone thinks. Movado is currently waaaaayyyy undervalued. This isn’t MVMT or Invicta we’re talking about. The Museum watch is the first watch design that got my juices flowing in the early 90’s and got me into serious watches. Love and respect you dude and disagree with you frequently😂 Godspeed my brother.
It's probably too late for Movado to return to its legacy vintage roots. Zenith tried to with the Daytron Chrono in the seventies, but to be honest, by 1980, those watches were fading. Grinberg turned Movado around by turning it into an iconic Quartz Fashion watch, which is still where their strength lies today. A sell a ton, and are very profitable. They did try to regain some of their legacy by re-issue a very expensive Daytron Chrono recently. Don't think they sold too many, but it reminds people that they are not just a light weight brand!
Before starting to get into watches I had heard the name. When I started my watch journey I saw one in public, and assumed the brand was more along the lines MVMT, or Daniel Wellington. Boy was I wrong! Such a shame they don't make watches like these any more!
My grandfather wore a Movado and I wanted one. I bought the "classic museum" watch and it's very nice. It reminds me of him (his was lost) and I've worn it to many occasions. I get compliments and people recognize it. I totally agree they have moved towards becoming a fashion brand (and if that works for them, fine.) Their quartz offerings remind me somewhat of Tag Hauer (how much??) At least they're less expensive.
I own and love the Movado Valor 89.C6.1871 (tungsten carbide case & bracelet, mirror dial); I believe it was made in the '80s. I've been a "watch guy" for over 30 years with a substantial collection of over 40 (AP, Baume & Mercier, Grand Seiko, JLC, Omega, Panerai, Patek, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn, Vacheron, etc.) but still would not give up this watch.
You are saying they turned their back on their history but they are actually embracing what made them successful. Quality may be questionable and more of a fashion watch but they do produce some interesting designs.
T3, Dude, you nailed it! Movado has such a rich history and I love their 60s offerings. I would really like one of the El Primero chronos but they are outrageous in price plus the cost to service an El Primero. Keep it up!
Sir, I believe you've missed 3 very handsome and high quality models in your list: Planisphere Master Parlee. please make another video after taking a look at this masterpieces.
Uhh hell yeah. I have the performance chrono in blue, it’s been my daily driver for years, you can dress it up or down, beat it up or polish it. Like you good sir I love it. The lume on it is still just as bright as the day I bought it.
My dad's Movado from the 80s (now my wife's) runs and looks fantastic. I just bought a series 800 chronograph in all silver (because with a black face it looks too much like a Tag) and it's a rock solid watch, very happy with it.
Sorry that you hate Movado that bad, but they are great gorgeous watches, I own a dimond Sportivo black face and I get compliments all the time, I had own Rolex and also now own a Gold with leather straps Breitling, so I know what a fine watch is, and Movado is right there almost.
Before watching this video, last night I purchased a Movado Heritage 3650054 because it actually has indices on the dial and has an automatic movement. I'm hoping that it turns out to be a good watch. Thanks for posting this video!
Yeah, so everybody loves movado. I don't know why there are all these hate videos for movado. If you like the watch than you like the watch. And I like the watch.
I love my Movado. Granted I don't know much about watches, and granted it is quite likely a $1000 quartz watch, but I still love it. It looks great, it works just fine, and it's held up to a surprising amount of abuse without issue. That's all I need and the very unique clean look with the blank face is something I really enjoy. I think as long as you know what you're getting there isn't a problem - you can decide for yourself if you're happy with the price or not. Interesting to hear the counter arguments though. If it indeed does have a cheap mechanism I can understand why watch people might not be fond of it. But for me it wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference if it was mechanical, especially if my assumption of quartz having less drift is accurate.
BiNGO! You're spot on the 💰. I have Tudors & Rolex's. Some vintage , some new. However , my Movato is go to. I'm all for the function & fashionability. For Instance, my Movado Venturi works tremendously well with most black suits & black outfits. And I do wear black more than most. However, I rarely wear yellow gold. I'm more of a platinum, silver, white gold guy. When the occasion calls for a black outfit with yellow gold jewelry, I always turn to my Movado. It's classy, classic, & I don't have to worry about scratching or scuffing a very expensive gold watch. For everything, it's place. Keep rocking your Movado & enjoy yourself. 😉
@@yoholmes273 Glad to see another enjoyer. As you mention the fear of damaging it, that's a good point. I've actually learnt to enjoy the scuffs. I don't feel like I'm ruining a heirloom. It helps remind me how long I've had the watch and how much we've been through together. Also as a non-watch person I'm glad to see people who are more into the hobby can enjoy them too. I'd genuinely wondered if it was just because watches are a beautiful accessory rather than a true passion for me but it seems I was wrong.
I feel you on the company going to pot in the 80's / 90's, I always have been heartbroken about Bulova over the past two years but at least they did come out with some decent watches this year at Basel 2019 so never give up hope, Movado may surprise you one day.
Movados are a more affordable option, not everyone can afford rolex, tag, omega... I personally have owned 5, they are nice watches, and do the job. The saphire crystal is what I like. Obviously I will take a movado over a Nixon, Diesel, Mk, or coach.Tissot is another brand I will be buying in the near future. Do not be discouraged by this video.
Movado is the king of the mall. It's a watch aimed at impressing ladies not dudes. Go to the mall, ask your wife to pick a watch for you without influencing her opinion and you will be going home with a Movado.
U.U.U also with your balls behind your legs. Find a woman who has taste, you will have a better time. Cheapest pieces of garbage in the mall. Seiko’s and grand seikos are considered some of the best watches on the planet. Find a watch that is quality. Also a woman too.
Yeah and she'll be coming home with you in credit card debt. Your comment wasn't well thought out. First off malls are dead! Not sure what era you're referring to. Secondly Movados are sold at jewelry stores in malls like Zales with entry points at $1200.... The last time I was in a jewelry store they sell series 800/vizio carbon woven. Shyt I purchased a used Datron from my jeweler and paid $600 and that was a show piece. Lastly I'm not trying to impress men. If the ladies are for it then so am I! Hell I'm not wearing Chanel Alure at $140 a bottle hoping to impress a room full of sausages 😒 I mean but if that's what you're in to...
Straight Facts!! I have a museum with a navy blue face and a silver dail and a black leather band and everytime I wear it I definitely get people's attention! No lie
Just got me a Movado Parlee, super light…its a crono, had a retail of $8500, which I think was over priced but picked up my from Movado outlet store for $1800 with a 3 yrs warranty…thoughts?
I disagree with you to no end. The main reason I've been in love with movado, since I was 17 (33 now), is that minimalist look to it. I don't need all the bells and whistles. If I wanted that I would own an apple watch. I respect your opinion. Different strokes.
Museum watch is one of the top five GOAT watch designs. But in the world where people go mad over gaudy Rolex this doesn’t count for much. It doesn’t help they make crap quartz watches. But if you can find Museum Watch made by the original Movado, not this “Movado Fashion Watch Scam”, go for it.
lol acts like he was actually born in that era of when Movado "was good" Movado is a better company even today and way better than vincero and Michael cors watches. give me a break
He has shit taste but under current ownership Movado is flogging cheap quartz watches at the premium. Museum Watch is one of the best designs ever. It pains me to see its fate.
Never say never Bulova and Timex two different price points started to slowly re-release older styles. We have to remember the majority of current Movado owners don’t care about complications they just want a simple watch that tells time.
Exactly, my brother only wears the movado that I bought him 15 years ago. If it has a day complication, he immediately dismisses it. Lol "I don't want to be screwing around with fiddling the date, just tell me the time. "
Fair enough video. I own a Movado Museum 2100002 timepiece myself. Its a nice watch and I wear it for general socials and dress clothes when I want to have a low profile unlike my Invictas. WIth that being said, once you own one Movado, its ridiculous to buy another one. You are right about the company, it is now all about the Museum watch and they don't have any roots. The purchase of MVMT is just an example of it
Wow, I didn’t know about those beautiful chronos they used to make. Movado introduced the museum style around the 70’s, 80’s and haven’t changed since? Maybe they’ll come up with a watch with numbers soon.... nah, then people will know what time it is!
The iconic museum watch design was originally by Nathan Horwitt in 1947 following the Bauhaus concept of functional simplicity (form follows function). Movado began producing them in 1948. In 1960 they became the first watch ever to be added to the Metropolitan's design collection in New York. You can read the long version here: bespokeunit.com/watches/movado/ Okay, the '80s were the shift from a stuffy old me-too Swiss watch house to a modern thinking and design focused enterprise (it can be spun both ways, guys) but you can't deny the iconic nature of the museum watch and it's ubiquitous recognition. Appreciate Movado for its design and history the same way as those who own dive watches but never go near the water, or those who are afraid to fly and still love pilot's watches.
Yeah I get the distaste for the quartz models... but even in recent decades they've offered some decent automatic models. I got an unusual 'dive watch' , part of the 1881 range (nearly 2 decades old) with an eta movement (probably 2824). The case polishing and faceted hour markers are really pleasing, not cheap at all.
The problem with Movado, Concord, and Ebel is that many of the Movado outlet stores often have sales that discount their watches by 50 to 60% of their MSRP, which means no one is buying them at full retail, they are not worth the money sought for them, or are marketed to the general public to fool them into thinking they got a great deal when the watches were overpriced in the first place. From a marketing point, they have no plan.
Sad but true Movado was an awesome company but just like everything else company changed to make money and forget the consumer, but yeah the earliest Movados are stunning pieces of history, Thank you for sharing this awesome review of Movado and their pieces. So long Movado 😕😒👋👇
Dont bash on movado for wanting change... i have a couple of museum series movados and one Esperanza jewelry is all about personal preference i personally like the minimalistic look of the early 90s movados the new bolds are hideous though i can agree on that
Even with just a quartz movement, ANY of those chronographs would be much better than anything they have out now. Just like the Royal Oak, the Museum watch is classic, but played out and belongs in another time, or at least to be updated in an interesting way. Movado needs to take advantage of today's interest in vintage style watches and release one of their 50's or 60's pieces.
I mean, I see nothing wrong with the Movado Sapphire (Gold with the Gold Mirror finished face) because I like my fair share of simplicity and if I may say low profile elegance. The vintage Movados is a win. I appreciate your videos. I am going to start my watch collection but I do want two Rolexes to pass down to my boys when the graduate from High School.
The RAF MkVIIa 1940 - Movado were one of the producers of the pilot/navigator watch along with Omega, Longines, JLC etc. Very rare as Movados were only c500 of the total production.

Love and respect you dude and disagree with you frequently😂
Godspeed my brother.
You don't buy a Movado for "investment".
You buy a Movado for functionality & fashion.
Movedo SE Exteme w/ diamond bezel. Most beautiful ever and dusts all the watches you showed.
That is a beautiful watch. I also own quite a few watches and could only hope to find a Valor to add to my collection.
You are saying they turned their back on their history but they are actually embracing what made them successful. Quality may be questionable and more of a fashion watch but they do produce some interesting designs.
This guy is banned from Movado watches don’t mind him
I still love my price
I have to movado and there great watches and I don’t see a issue you with the company at all.
Hello Jory, in your opinion which is one is better? Bulova or Movado?
I've been gifted a 1965 "Kingmatic Surf" Sub Sea, Ref 9118. Needs some repair, but looking forward to wearing it.
T3, Dude, you nailed it! Movado has such a rich history and I love their 60s offerings. I would really like one of the El Primero chronos but they are outrageous in price plus the cost to service an El Primero. Keep it up!
I was sure it was a typo and this was going to be a video about “The Only Avocados Worth Buying”
The 800 performance series chrono, solid as a rock and looks amazing, put one on your wrist. You’ll love it!
Sir, I believe you've missed 3 very handsome and high quality models in your list:
Planisphere
Master
Parlee.
please make another video after taking a look at this masterpieces.
I love my Movado gold & slver band black face wilt 30 diamonds around face. My husband bought it for our 30th anniversary.
Anyone like the Movado 800 series? I love mine.
I don't have one but I'm eyeing the gold one ! I have lots of steel Hamiltons and Longines but that gold is calling me haha
I am new to this. I have the Sapphire 🤔. It’s all scratched up now. But keeps good time
Uhh hell yeah. I have the performance chrono in blue, it’s been my daily driver for years, you can dress it up or down, beat it up or polish it. Like you good sir I love it. The lume on it is still just as bright as the day I bought it.
Another fun vid. Btw the only movado I’d love is novado.
See what I did there.
Nvrmind. I’ll see myself out
The pretentiousness is strong with this one.
Dude is 100% cringe goofball
I received a Movado museum red label automatic date as a gift back in the early 2000s. Turns out I love it on those wear a suit days.
I bought a Movado Temo. Love it’s Zen simplicity. Has a nice feel. Sapphire crystal. Gold accents. Fits into my collection nicely.
The vizo chronograph with the stainless steel bracelet W/ the date??? Man I am feeling that one.
Yes , the Vizio chronograph with the Stainless steel bracelet is the best movado
I like the 800 series , kind of pricey yet very well made and finished beautiful watches .
How do you feel about the Movado Bold Verso chronograph
Hell I'm not wearing Chanel Alure at $140 a bottle hoping to impress a room full of sausages 😒
I mean but if that's what you're in to...
Straight Facts!! I have a museum with a navy blue face and a silver dail and a black leather band and everytime I wear it I definitely get people's attention! No lie
@@umbrellacorporationwuhanfa3731 😆🤓
Just got me a Movado Parlee, super light…its a crono, had a retail of $8500, which I think was over priced but picked up my from Movado outlet store for $1800 with a 3 yrs warranty…thoughts?
Here at 2:30 am can I get a like jory 😃
Yes!
2:51 am
I realize I'm kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good site to stream newly released movies online?
@Jacob Sergio flixportal =)
@Ezekiel Franklin Thank you, I went there and it seems like a nice service :D Appreciate it !
I just got a movato series 800 with blue sapphire and I love it
What’s your opinion on the Movado Red Label? Is it worth the higher price, or is it junk?
What is a good watch to buy if I’m starting to want to buy a nice watch?
I disagree with you to no end. The main reason I've been in love with movado, since I was 17 (33 now), is that minimalist look to it. I don't need all the bells and whistles. If I wanted that I would own an apple watch. I respect your opinion. Different strokes.
Museum watch is one of the top five GOAT watch designs. But in the world where people go mad over gaudy Rolex this doesn’t count for much.
It doesn’t help they make crap quartz watches. But if you can find Museum Watch made by the original Movado, not this “Movado Fashion Watch Scam”, go for it.
lol acts like he was actually born in that era of when Movado "was good" Movado is a better company even today and way better than vincero and Michael cors watches. give me a break
noxus158 This guy has shit taste anyway..
Mr. Wonderful .... Does that mean you have shit taste too because you watch his channel?
He has shit taste but under current ownership Movado is flogging cheap quartz watches at the premium. Museum Watch is one of the best designs ever. It pains me to see its fate.
Better than vincero and Michael kors? 😆 that's not saying a lot.
@@tvang464 you sound poor
Never say never Bulova and Timex two different price points started to slowly re-release older styles. We have to remember the majority of current Movado owners don’t care about complications they just want a simple watch that tells time.
Exactly, my brother only wears the movado that I bought him 15 years ago. If it has a day complication, he immediately dismisses it. Lol
"I don't want to be screwing around with fiddling the date, just tell me the time. "
I have a Movado 800 series chrono, I love it.
Thanks for all the info and history of Movado. What is your take on the Movado Red Label Automatic watches. Love to hear you take on them.
I got a mavado extream se automatic movement clear case back and 43mm so it is solid and heavy its a very nice watch
Kingmatic S....55 years old and still within chronometer spec's
You can read the long version here: bespokeunit.com/watches/movado/
Okay, the '80s were the shift from a stuffy old me-too Swiss watch house to a modern thinking and design focused enterprise (it can be spun both ways, guys) but you can't deny the iconic nature of the museum watch and it's ubiquitous recognition.
Jory,
Could you do a similar one on Invicta? It's a similar story of a good company gone wrong after a fabulous beginning.
Or TAG.
I know this is an old post but the Movado datron automatic chronograph that was made in 2012
I would wear any movado purchased from ebay..once you pay less than 50% , you can not disregard its wonderful elegant minimalistic design
I love the Movado Calendomatic ... been looking for one for a while now.
The Movado Calendomatic is a beautiful and expensive watch.
You got poor taste!
That last one in the list with the mesh band is fire, if it don’t got a mesh band we ain’t talkin
Movado Kingmatic chronographs are good, valjoux 7750 powered watches.
I have a 42mm Museum with a 2982 in it. Its actually just a little bit diff to be cool as its a stealth automatic. ;)
My 1881 has a 2824.2 in it. A sneaky good automatic, love it.
Dont bash on movado for wanting change... i have a couple of museum series movados and one Esperanza jewelry is all about personal preference i personally like the minimalistic look of the early 90s movados the new bolds are hideous though i can agree on that
Vintage Movados r worth a look. I have worn my '84 chrono since '84.
NOPE.
Perhaps 4 years ago.
However, Museum is a classic.
Too bad.i was going to get ask for the movado 1880 or I think 1881. What would you recommend
I happen to be in agreement but the Movado museum is display at MOMA name other watches made the that list
I don't modern art is anything to be proud of.
@@hunter5502000 I guess we live in different worlds
The RAF MkVIIa 1940 - Movado were one of the producers of the pilot/navigator watch along with Omega, Longines, JLC etc. Very rare as Movados were only c500 of the total production.
Analogous to Porsche's 911 as summarized by the best vanity license plate I've ever seen: NO 2 H2O (on a circa 1990 Type 964).
