I bought a Movado museum when I was like 20, I'm 42 today and still have the same watch and I love it. Now if I were to pay a $1000 for another watch today, I cant say I would buy Movado again. But I absolutely love my watch and don't regret the purchase one bit. Its held its time perfectly for over 20 years!
Thanks for sharing. The quality is certain good. I’ve had my Movado for multiple years as well and it’s in good shape. Agreed that if I had a thousand, there’s much better values out there.
I bought one 17 years ago and I still have it to remind me that a fool and their money always part ways. I paid $980 for it back then and thought I was cool. Haven’t worn it since 2007 and I cringe every time I look at it.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews I love my Movado I got for Christmas a couple years ago It's around $1,000 it has a sapphire crystal, a shiny black PVD coating that looks good and is scratch resistant, is thin and sits on the wrist perfectly, and I love the black and silver with the dot at 12 o'clock , I do disagree about what you said about Movados designs you could say Rolex is scared to go out of their comfort zone with their designs but that's the reason I like Movado they have a classic Design that's been around for years and years it's a classy watch that has history and that makes their brand classy I'd much rather have a Movado than a Gucci watch which unfortunately is what Movado is compared to which I disagree with completely 😎👍
In all fairness complaining about value with a luxury watch seems a bit silly your cellphone tells time.. for all intents and purposes for most people a watch is jewelry.....the only watches thst really hold value or appreciate cosf several thousand dollars and are rare watches. Just sound like a Snob Bugatti is under VW , Tod Snyder is under AE the list goes on smh...@AvgJoeWatchReviews
I have 4 myself and I like them for the nostalgic point of view I just remember growing up that was the watch to have, I think people should know what they are buying, if you’re buying a movado to boast as the it watch then you’re sad, just enjoy the watch for what it is I myself like to collect watches from time to time but I don’t boast about it.
@@willthebatboy Rolex is the last thing I'd buy they are total snob watches. They, to me with that "bling" look, look like a pricey Invicta and I don't like them either. I will stick with what I like. Movado to me compliments my style with the look of class. It is the only jewlery I wear I have 2 Movado's and will never own a Rolex because I don't like the way they look, like a "bejewled" Casio. To each his own, I do not buy Movado for the name, it is totally for the look.
The regular Movado owner, buys movado for the elegance and the looks, that’s it, there isn’t other brands in the market now that can produce such a sexy watch for the price that price range
Watch collectors think they know it all! Normal watch wearers just want a watch that looks good. I've seen watch collectors favorites, they don't look all that great. My style is unstoppable.
Movado is like the Mercedes Benz of watches. They are slightly overpriced and depreciate significantly but have such a timeless design that they fit any occasion. For instance, a Benz C300 is a "cheap" Benz and a lot of consumer brands are actually more expensive, but to the average person it's still a major flex, based on the namesake.
Movado has an Iconic look that watch makers of much higher price and so called high quality have been trying to achieve and probabky never will. I have 2 of them and I have no complaints. To each their own. Great video and insight.
You made some valid observations in your review, but as a matter of personal taste and preference, I do like the simplicity and elegance of Movado watches. I own a few, and find them to be reliable and durable in their day to day function. The only concern that I have with them is that for the prices paid, the plated finishes tend to scratch a little too easily. As a result, I have to exercise extra care while wearing them. Nonetheless, Movado is still a highly recognizable brand. My Movado watches continue to draw more attention and compliments than the other reputable brands that I own.
Very well stated about your experience with Movado. Same here too. In fact, I just bought, arrived yesterday, another Movado. I get nothing but compliments on them. People know it at a glance from 10’ away. (A $10,000 Rolex seen from 10’ feet away can look like a Timex with that generic look) Some are just casual and some are for date night and when I get one my wife wants the ladies version to match. 😂 It’s kinda fun.
Go for a tungsten version and you will NEVER have a scratch. I have one that's probably 13 years old....you would swear it's brand new....tungsten doesn't scratch.
Movado Men's Series 800 Chronograph? MSRP $1,395 USD. Street price around $850-1,000. Quartz movement, 200 Meters. (Looks WAY BETTER in person). A good value ? ? ?
Its very interesting that the reviews by "Watch Reviewers" trash Movado Watches.. Yet the comment sections will be filled with Movado OWNERS who've owned them for years and LOVE them. I think it comes down to Movado realizing that Swiss Mechanical Movements, while elegant and great technology for their time, cannot compare to the modern Swiss Quartz Movements (i.e. 22 jewel - 84.C5.1897.0 Chronograph) that have VASTLY Superior Accuracy. This is NOT an opinion, it is science... Swiss Quartz Movements have greater accuracy than ANY Mechanical Movements.
At the end of the day it’s not about what I or anyone else think about a Movado or any other brand. We are simply sharing an opinion so that you can make up your own mind. If you like a watch, buy it, wear it and enjoy it.
You’re right they’re obviously accurate but that’s not a justification in any way for charging 100 times more of what a watch with that movement will cost in a walmart
Honestly, you can pick up a new strap on Amazon for less than a Movado clasp. Plus you can change the look for under 20.00 plus make the watch look new. Just a thought.
I would take it to a movado company store. Most likely you just need to adjust the metal in the clasp that catches the clasp. Assuming you have a butterfly clasp. If it’s really bad then call mgi service
It’s was new lol I got it new from a Movado company store . COVID 19 hit and they had a 60% then a 30% off that price great deal . I would never spend the original price on this piece though .
I own 3 movado watch’s. My first was a gold tone museum with black leather band. Still have it and it’s still perfect. Then a stainless model and most recently a movado bold. They are all great. I also have 2 Tissot 4 gshock’s and a Concorde that I received from my father. My favorites are the Movados and Gshocks
Movado is a really stunning watch to look at and a truly unique and eloquent design. Tissot is one of my favorites for sure. Appreciate you checking in bud.
John Carter they’re nice looking watches that keep time. Just expensive MSRP. Movado is a great second hand watch. Maybe my next video idea. Thanks and thanks for watching.
I would’ve done the same. Great find. Congrats. Btw, you can refer to me in the first person since it’s my channel and I respond to comments in my video. Just sayin.
I traded a car stereo in the 90's for a Movado. My first "expensive" watch. Thought it was fake and I got scammed after I opened it and saw a bunch of plastic around the movement, so I threw it away. After all these years and UA-cam videos I think it was real and my expectations on an "expensive" watch were too high.
Keep watching. They weren’t my only complaints. I don’t brag about any of my watches. You obviously are a newbie to the channel. So welcome and keep watching since your opinions are inaccurate.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews you kept bitching about lack of automatic movements, something wrong with that? Swatch didnt even have anything mechanical for decades and many collectors like those ugly things
Wow. What a silly set of comments. First of all, if you like the look of a Movado, you get a Movado. It's pure aesthetics. My friend always says his Movado gets far more compliments than his Rolex that cost 20 times more. The Movado design is what you're getting. It's well made and tells time. Need an investment? Buy some Tesla stock. As for the umbrella brand nonsense, a TON of premium brands have been picked up by larger companies. Who cares? Not much out there looks as good as the Movado, IMHO. There are a ton of pricier watches (by far) that have virtually no character at all. That's not the case for the Movado.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews Who said anything about impressing anyone? I live in a multimillion dollar LA pool house, so I doubt anyone cares much about my watch. All I said is that the Movado gets more compliments vs. a far more expensive Rolex. As nice as the Rolex is, it doesn't stand out as uniquely stylish. Some people prefer that, which is fine. If I'm heading off to a Hollywood meeting, the Movado is a nicer dress watch than quite a few pricier options. I can't be worried over "investments" in watches. I'd be living in Ohio if I thought like that! ;-)
@@robertbrody4032 there you go again. I see you care about impressing people and flexing. You just can’t help it. I’m not impressed. Have a good one. If I want to go around in circles, I’ll join NASCAR. 😂👍
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews Nice effort to try to backpedal. Sadly, some people here can likely read. You're the only one who mentioned impressing anyone. I spoke ONLY about aesthetics and pointed out that the Movado (and old Museum Classic) drew more compliments than a far more expensive luxury watch. You sound all wrapped up in costs. The comments about who owns which company couldn't be more shallow and uniformed. So long as the quality associated with heritage is observed, nothing else matters. Disney bought Pixar. Fiat bought Ferrari for a while. If I wanted to "flex", which is a teenager's term, I'd do a better job. Movado has a business model. They sell a distinctive design for a relatively low price. That's it. That's why they build, market and sell them. BTW, my most useful and "best" watch is a Garmin!
I have a lot of different watches in my collection, but believe it or not, I still get the most compliments on my Movado's. Especially my Movado Sapphire Silver Mirror. Every time I wear that thing it turns heads and someone stops to compliment it. When it comes down to strictly design, Movado is still my favorite brand. Next would be the modern Jacob & Co's, but obviously we've jumped into different universes now. 😂 I would love to own a J&C before I die. Great channel by the way.
I have 4 of them, two black face, a two tone, and a museum blue, and like the minimalist look of them. You made some valid points though. It is definitely more of a fashion brand than an investment.
Thank you and I think they are beautiful watches. Buying one second hand would be my ideal price since at that point I’m paying for the watch and not the marketing and other factors that up the price. Thanks for watching.
I collect many brands (Breitling, Tag Heuer, Rolex, JLC, Movado, etc.) and have roughly 25-30 Movado watches and enjoy them all. Movado has also begun to manufacture far more automatic models as of late.
I’ve taken notice of that and glad you bring that up because I’m currently working on a video about the new SE automatic. Beautiful watch and beautifully decorated movement.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews I just bought that one too, the two tone version. Definitely a very nice addition. Contemplating the new Vizio automatic as well, but I'm waiting to see if they drop an automatic chronograph version.
@@BlakeC341 I’ve had my eye on a Vizio for years. My biggest complaint... you guessed it, overpriced. Out an automatic in it and I would’ve bought it at THAT price they’re charging for the quartz.
That’s awesome and I never debated that. My point is that they charge a ton of money for what you get with huge depreciation and lack of automatic choices. Is it a a beautiful and elegant timepiece? Absolutely!
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews I definitely agree with how much they charge! I enjoy mine but always felt wrong paying that much for their watches. Especially because of the materials used! If the used titanium or higher quality materials and movements at those prices they would kill it
spot the f on. elegance and simplicity is how they built it. if you want more bells and whistles, there’s literally 10 or 20 brands that do that which is why movado perfected it’s niche. you don’t compare rolls royce to lexus, infiniti or acura but the latter brands are still luxury with striking good looks and functionality. i think ppl like to be condescending to gain some sort of perceived credibility. this video is an example of that.
I own 3 movado and I love them . Moreover , I bought them for an unbelievable price since I work for a retailer . Movado sapphire (all silver looking for only 350 retails for 1850
I have 5 Movado watches not gonna lie I like them, but 2 I bought from a movado store don’t say Swiss made on inside but on back say Swiss movement but my other 3 I purchased at different movado store has Swiss made on the inside. Do u think the 2 that don’t say Swiss made on inside are fake they say Swiss movement on back im concerned that I got taken advantage of. Does that make them fake
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews I've never said I love it but the whole premise of your video are reasons of hate as described in the title of the video and it's content.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews what don't you understand? Your video describes why you hate Movado, and now your comments here you say you don't hate Movado. I believe you are contradicting yourself.
I just bought my second Movado. The first was a Vizio. 20 years old, no maintenance or service. New battery every few years. Still runs perfect. I just bought a 800 series brand new on the second hand market of $350 Canadian. Buying second hand you could afford to wear and throw out when the battery needs replacing!
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews The feel of it around my wrist. Knowing that I paid a worthy price for a masterpiece of engineering, and let's be honest; most people today don't own a watch let alone wear them, so I enjoy not following the norm and I'm doing it in style
I own a Rolex OP, Breitling Avenger2, Tag, Bell & Ross , Omega Seamaster. Baume &. Mercier , The list goes on...And a few Movado watches. And I enjoy them all! I have a love for watches in general!
Amen. I know people are going to misconstrue what I said in the video. I like the look and quality of Movado. I love watches plain and simple. I’m simply looking out for ppl who don’t know any better and blindly pay for watches without knowing if they’re getting value for what then paid for. Give me a 1000 and I’m not buying a Swiss quartz with no complications. That’s me though.
Never pay retail mall prices and you will be just fine. I got a slightly used Movado Sapphire that was once $1,900 for $500 off ebay. Even brand new its now $995 off eBay
That's such a great deal. I'm interested in adding a gold sapphire to my collection, and I know they have them on eBay for a lot less, but I'm just so afraid of getting scammed.
Just in January, you posted a positive review of the Movado you showed here. What changed between then and now to make you change your opinion of them?
That’s a fair question and shows you’ve been a subscriber for a bit now. Thank you for that. To answer your question: the watch I reviewed in January was bought second hand. I don’t hate Movado but to buy one new is senseless to me. I bought this well below the new price and find it a fair price on the used market.
I’ve always found the Museum Edition elegant in their simplicity. However, I went to their website recently to purchase a navy blue version. They wanted $700 for a quartz watch with no functions, and no second hand. My decision was that a quartz, gold plated watch with a leather strap just wasn’t worth the cost.
@@kylestrickland6126 I know that. I was addressing the price of a quartz, gold plated watch with the bare minimum. I thought that $700 for the nothing they were providing was a lot.
The problem I have with a brand, is for most of their watches I can’t read them. All the watches in my collection even my more jewelry type watches I buy to use. I’m sure I might be able to get the approximate time based on this watch, but without a dial with indications on it, I have no idea what it’s trying to sayI mean, just give me some markings or something
Good video man, you are spot on with your points. I feel most non-watch people still look at Movado as a "luxury" brand due to their marketing. Their prices are not justified imho for such simple designs and basic movements in their watches. But again, to each their own.
I'm just about to buy a Kingmatic HS 360 for $300 - how else do you get a movement at 36,000 bph shared with Zenith at that price? Agree about the new ones though
I'm about to purchase a movado bold verso from a relatively reputable seller on ebay. I'm concerned it may be a fake. It still has tge tags but no box. He says its legit. Any word on movado fakes? I searched and don't find much on it. I'm facing about $500. But as the saying goes.. if it's too good to be true it probably is
I'll add... Watches are like home theater. You can go out and purchase a cheaper AV receiver with fancy Whistles and bells. Or you can buy separates and a processor that are simple, but excellent quality
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews fair enough. I just figuired as with most things, even subjective watches have a "above, below, or at " market value. like id never recomend someone pay 50k for a 2001 honda civic, regardless of whether the buyer thought it was a good deal lol
I’m going to say that I appreciate your opinion on this one. I’m a collector of sub “couple grand” watches and in fact, I found this video after ordering another Movado. You are RIGHT, and especially from your point that I think many are missing. It (is) a simpler watch with minimal complications unless you pay a premium for them (maybe they’re the Apple of watches? lol). I agree with one commenter that stated we’re paying for the elegance and a reasonably priced Swiss-made timepiece. I ordered mine for an upcoming Christmas party, lol. Anyways, cheers, (and I) appreciate this video…!
Good video. Dropped my Movado Museum on hard tile floor and it came apart and lost the hands. (so it needs new hands and put back together. Have had it 30 plus years, so its sentimental. Wondering, is it more than 200$ to repair? Thoughts......
If you take it to Movado, it’ll be more than 200. I’d you take it to a reputable jeweler, it should be under 200. If you lived close I’d fix it for you for free and talk watches while I was repairing it.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews Thanks for the reply. Watched a bunch of videos on how to reassemble it. The press looks likes an essential tool. So where would I buy movado hands (minute/hour). They look universal. Thoughts?
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews Called a jewelry store and they tell me they have to special order the hands and it will take a week. They look very universal - just silver. Is this a special Movado part? Thanks again...
Another thoughtful and informative video from Avg. Joe. my assessment is that fashion brands rely on perceived value boosting based on psychological influencing rather than fact and reason. The products of at least one such brand have been shown to be composed of low quality parts assembled in the cheapest of conditions absent of quality control. For those concerned about the well-being of the people who make the products we buy, the term cheapest of conditions also means low pay and poor working conditions.
Very thoughtful and informative comment. Didn’t think about the cheaper watches and how much the workers would be paid. Thanks for the insight and watching bud.
Just bought one at Macy’s for about 974 after tax here in California. It’s a heritage calendoplan with a stainless steel mesh bracelet. First actual watch I’ve ever bought as an adult, gotta say it looks great. I don’t know much about watches and collectors details or whatever, but I was surprised that it had a ticking style of keeping time. I always thought premium (especially anything Swiss) was known for the smooth movement of everything on the face. Any tips for a new guy??? Appreciate the honest video.
Thanks for watching. I’d return the watch and shop for one online. I’ve seen that exact watch for a few hundred less. Your mindset is exactly what I was trying to convey. You SHOULD expect an automatic movement when paying almost 1k for a watch or one highly spec’d or ultra accurate quartz. Anyway, it’s a beautiful watch and I’d totally buy one at the right price. Congrats though, subscribe and keep learning about this awesome hobby.
I don't wear gold. But I have a gentry and a museum gold, so if I have a gold night I have them. It's nice in the collection but I agree it peaked in the late 90s or 00s
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews honestly,I do not like the museum design. A sundial clock looks more chic. Then there is the MSRP, way over priced. I pulled the trigger on the Silhouette due to it's legibility, price and non museum look. Lastly, due to horology avg Joe's that produce down to earth "opinions". I also listened to Archieluxury but always felt like I needed a prozac after his stand up rants. 😆
I came across a Movado Vizio reference 0606083. It was different, the carbon fiber in the band made it pop a little more. I gave $350 for it and i am pretty sure that i could make a profit if I wanted to. I wear it occasionally out to dinner or something. I would love to have an early Heuer Monaco or a Hublot but its not in my budget atm.
@@TOhara-eb2lp I see your parallel and it’s a valid point. However, the ownership or umbrella of where Movado falls under wasn’t the only reason. My main reason was what you get for the price. You get a quartz movement for a price point of a Longines automatic for instance.
A lot of great points here. I do think the price is an issue, but I guess not enough of an issue for them to bring their prices down haha, as they undoubtedly sell a healthy amount of pieces. I think fashion brands are valuable to the watch community in the same way smart watches are valuable. Regardless of what people think of MVMT, their MASSIVE marketing arm has gotten quite a few people (some that I know personally) into the watch game. They definitely aren't for me, but if they get someone to dip their toes into the watch market and begin appreciating watches as a whole, I look at that as a net positive. I absolutely love videos that get you thinking like this! Keep it up!
I've had mine since 08 silver, sleek, and beautiful :-) Its 2023 and it turns heads. I like many luxury and mid luxury brands with their heritage and in house movements but you cant deny the timeless aesthetics of my simple dress watch. Has the simple beauty of the Rolex Oyster.
I have given away more movados than I currently own. I have 5 still on hand and only once have I ever had an issue with a watch. My employees, now ex employees from the sale of 2 childcare centers, still see me on the streets and always thank me for the watch. Better than a cash bonus....cash would be gone...watch is still on their wrists. My favorite is the tungsten one I've had for at least 13 years....still scratch free and looking new unlike many of the stainless ones I've purchased. Simplicity is elegant IMHO. If you don't know what the date is....well.... you're dumb. Think McIntosh....simple yet so elegant. A watch is for time in most cases, in others it's about the look at me I'm somebody personality. Let those egos go and spend many thousands more so they can get their approval from friends....I'll stick with my modest Movado.
Casio makes a plastic digital watch, Watch channels: “Wow God tier!” Movado makes a quartz watch or an automatic watch Watch channels: “Cheesey and cheap”
The Men’s Movado Vizio from the 90s with perpetual motion, see through back and the thick stainless steel band really is timeless. it’s not the museum image type of face but I remember back then when you would look at a Movado Watch store they always had some amazing pieces. I want to say they had an awesome watch designer that created these unique classy and flashy pieces. They need to bring that craft-person back.
I’m certain that Cartier that uses an unremarkable Swiss quartz movement in the Tank Louis models aren’t worried about least bit about anyone else’s watches. BTY the Cartier battery costs $$$ to have replaced . Their mechanical movements are no prize either. Hand washing resistant only. Movado will last with care for a good long time and not expensive to maintain or send mechanical work to their service provider.
I went out and purchased a new Movado Museum Classic after watching a few video's of various UA-cam snobs. Get over yourselves. There's nothing wrong with the watches. People buy them because they are beautiful and we can afford them. I'm sorry that your lack of funds forced you to be a lesser watch.
You obviously haven’t watched my channel beyond this video… otherwise it would be obvious I’m far from being a watch snob. Your comment shows me one of two things: you didn’t pay attention or your comprehension skills are lacking. Either way, Happy New Year and thanks for supporting my channel. The engagement and the view time helps me out big time! 👍
Museum edition is up in price compared to its release at least in most cases. I love mine but I do agree with your points. When I can afford a luxury watch I won’t go with movado but for the price I’m happy.
A watch doesn’t have to be jam-packed with gizmos and bling to be worth more money. Movado is a well made, elegant, minimalistic watch. If you want bling...go buy an Invicta (and see how a watch really loses value!)
Good points. My issue isn’t the gizmos and bling, it’s the value you get for a quartz movement and lack of complications. You’re paying for their marketing and getting a watch that’ll depreciate as much as an Invicta (percentage wise). I would only buy a Movado used if I were to recommend it to someone who is set on buying one. You can get a used one in great shape for 100-150 all day. For a watch that costed almost 1000 new that’s 90% depreciation. That’s a lot for a watch that isn’t even in vintage class yet!
I bought one for $900 for my wife that looks beautiful with some little diamonds. But she didn’t care about the movement or technology. Just the looks, but it looks fantastic on her wrist
I have two movados. I like them I like watches but I’m also only 20 and not very rich. I like the heritage series I have one that retailed for 800 and got it on sale for 290 and it is pretty good I like the look of the heritage series.
I received a Movado Red Label automatic museum watch with a lizard strap as a gift from work back in the early 2000s when I was in my early 20s. I wore it for a bit, then took a break from it, now its back in the rotation with my other "daily" watches, I like it now because I feel like I'm the only one wearing it when I'm out. I also received a Raymond Weil Tango swiss quartz that is part of my "daily" watch collection (I received as a gift) as well. I like it for work and business trips, it looks nice and it doesn't stick out so much, pretty much a grab and go watch when I'm in a rush - I like that I don't have to adjust the time on it . Good review on the Movado though, it isn't for everyone.
Appreciate the feedback and support. I’ve always wondered about Raymond Weil and why no one talks about them. I may do a video on them. Thanks for watching!
About the old Movado bold all blueed out. Bought it before I knew anything really about watches I still love to wear it. But now looking back on it I really kind of got taken for what I paid. But for that case I'll still wear the hell out of it 4:45 👍
I do agree with you and even though I have several Movados in my collection I dont wear the minimalist Museum ones that I own. My wife wears one and gets a lot of compliments. I will wear my new 800 series chronograph quartz and it looks a lot like my Tudor 7928. About their automatics. I bought a Movado Kingmatic Presidential 25 jewel watch in 1970 in Nassau Bahamas and wore it for 40 years and it kept perfect time. Wish I had kept it but sold it on to a buyer in Australia.
Is there a need for the accuracy of a quartz mvmt in a watch that has no second indices? The profit margin on Movado must be huge. It doesn't seem like there are any premium metal or jewels used, no artistry, quartz movements are cheap. What justifies the price tag? Now, in all fairness, I looked at Movado the other day and the chrono's were real bling.
You’re paying for their marketing, fancy boutiques, endorsement deals. So 80% goes into paying their bills while the 20% of your money goes into the watch. Pretty genius on their part.
I think that’s the problem, resellers and oh this is an investment. Nope its a watch to be enjoyed, if you wanna invest, there’s always the stock market. I do however do agree about pricing.
Hey David! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m not an advocate of buying watches as an investment because as you said, there’s the stock market for that. More likely than not, unless you’re buying a Rolex, AP, Vacheron or any other watch the Avg. Joe cannot afford, your watch will depreciate as soon as you take it home just like an automobile. Thanks for watching.
I have 6 movado time pieces ill leave it at that 3 esperanzas ive got a la nouvelle, a museum, and a melano i think i the name which was communion gift when i was young so old i cant remember

I don’t personally enjoy “busy looking” watches
Minimalism is beautiful
Minimalism creates timelessness, akin to loafers, polo shirts, leather jackets, tailored suits, etc....
@@alexanderrose1071 Neither do I. I don’t need to know what phase the moon is in or the time in London.
That’s why I don’t like most Breitlings. I look at a lot of them and can’t figure out what’s going on.
I get compliments Everytime I wear my movado watches every time
Those people don’t know about watches. Movado is more a jewelry object than a watch.
@@franc101978 Yet at the same time a Submariner knockoff (otherwise known as Invicta) gets longing looks too.

I personally own 3 Movado watches . I love them ..
Thanks for watching!
Sell them and get a vintage Rolex. You’ll never look back
@@willthebatboy except most vintage Rolex watches are so feminine by today's standards...pass.
I don’t disagree with you there. Most people don’t care or even know the back story and are perfectly fine with it. 👍
Agree. You said it perfectly.
Yeah, sure. GO pay 25,000 for a Rolex & their style has been the same FOREVER. Movado looks awesome.
It really is disappointing how bad Rolex's designs are. There's only 10% that I can say I really like. Maybe even less.
Thank you so much!
Thank you. Appreciate your feedback and support. Enjoy your day and God bless.
I own a 1950's era Movado Calendomatic and it still gives good time.
@@Lions_Gate I agree. I’m glad you and your wifey are enjoying your Movados. They are one of the more recognizable watch bands indeed.
Go for a tungsten version and you will NEVER have a scratch. I have one that's probably 13 years old....you would swear it's brand new....tungsten doesn't scratch.
The serious 800 looks cool
At the end of the day it’s about what you like. My tiny collection has a Rolex, an Omega, and two Movados, All over the place.
I picked up a bold for 300 bucks and the clasp pops open on me a lot. Not sure what I can do to secure the clasp better?
Honestly, you can pick up a new strap on Amazon for less than a Movado clasp. Plus you can change the look for under 20.00 plus make the watch look new. Just a thought.
I would take it to a movado company store. Most likely you just need to adjust the metal in the clasp that catches the clasp. Assuming you have a butterfly clasp. If it’s really bad then call mgi service
So, do people not buy Lamborghinis because they’re owned by Volkswagen? One of the same arguments you’re making here
I own several Movado watches and I like them all. I do have other more expensive watches, but I can wear my Movado watches anywhere, except swimming

My pleasure! Thanks for watching and enjoy that classic. Impressive it still keeps good time. Ever been serviced?
Exactly. Buy what YOU like. If you’re buying a watch to impress others, you’ll sadly be disappointed. Thanks for watching.
I'd be living in Ohio if I thought like that! ;-)

BTW, my most useful and "best" watch is a Garmin!
i love their minimalistic dial. Beautiful.
I have 4 and I love them all. I don't want them to step out of their zone. You want that, go someone else.

If the used titanium or higher quality materials and movements at those prices they would kill it
@@RobertOrtiz1015 I actually would rock a Movado still, but just won’t pay retail. 😉
spot the f on. elegance and simplicity is how they built it. if you want more bells and whistles, there’s literally 10 or 20 brands that do that which is why movado perfected it’s niche. you don’t compare rolls royce to lexus, infiniti or acura but the latter brands are still luxury with striking good looks and functionality. i think ppl like to be condescending to gain some sort of perceived credibility. this video is an example of that.

Those are dress watches. Dress watches are minimal and typically dont have second hands.
The price of simplicity. You’re paying for the original design. Raymond Weil or Tag Heuer is charging for even more for quartz watches!
Valid point indeed. The value of simplicity is definitely relative and subjective. Thanks for watching.
Good video man, you are spot on with your points. I feel most non-watch people still look at Movado as a "luxury" brand due to their marketing. Their prices are not justified imho for such simple designs and basic movements in their watches. But again, to each their own.
David Schwartz they’re no different than Invicta with their deceiving marketing imo.
I'm just about to buy a Kingmatic HS 360 for $300 - how else do you get a movement at 36,000 bph shared with Zenith at that price? Agree about the new ones though
Very nice! Agree with you there. Good point.
I'm about to purchase a movado bold verso from a relatively reputable seller on ebay. I'm concerned it may be a fake. It still has tge tags but no box. He says its legit. Any word on movado fakes? I searched and don't find much on it. I'm facing about $500. But as the saying goes.. if it's too good to be true it probably is
Take your advice. If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.
Movados are very sleek without the excessive cost
I'll add...
Watches are like home theater.
You can go out and purchase a cheaper AV receiver with fancy Whistles and bells. Or you can buy separates and a processor that are simple, but excellent quality
so lets see if you get back to me before its to late lol if i could get a movado faceto for around $300 brand new, would it be a good deal?
If you feel it’s a good deal, go for it. That’s a very subjective question. If you find it a good deal based on research, go for it.

It (is) a simpler watch with minimal complications unless you pay a premium for them (maybe they’re the Apple of watches? lol). If you take it to Movado, it’ll be more than 200. I’d you take it to a reputable jeweler, it should be under 200. If you lived close I’d fix it for you for free and talk watches while I was repairing it.

I really like movado for looks and just simplicity and im still thinking about getting the bold verso but for the price point i usually prefer Bulova.
I don't wear gold. But I have a gentry and a museum gold, so if I have a gold night I have them. It's nice in the collection but I agree it peaked in the late 90s or 00s
Agreed, I have long looked at but not purchased a Movado. Recently came across a Qtz heritage series Silhouette black leather strap.
Thanks so much bud! What is the main reason you’ve avoided the brand?
So then Omegas are crap since they are owned by Swatch?
Keep it up!
Swiss Watch Company thanks for your insight. Really appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching bud!
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews I really did. point of view videos like this are my favorite. Great work!
Thank you for your straight forward video 👍
@@malcomlittle251 thank you for watching! Appreciate the feedback.
Simplicity is elegant and Movado makes a beautiful watch.
Casio makes a plastic digital watch,
Watch channels: “Wow God tier!”
Movado makes a quartz watch or an automatic watch
Watch channels: “Cheesey and cheap”
The Men’s Movado Vizio from the 90s with perpetual motion, see through back and the thick stainless steel band really is timeless. it’s not the museum image type of face but I remember back then when you would look at a Movado
Watch store they always had some amazing pieces. I want to say they had an awesome watch designer that created these unique classy and flashy pieces. They need to bring that craft-person back.
I remember the Vizio. Almost bought a titanium one with diamonds years ago. They make some beautiful watches, I won’t argue that.
Thanks for sharing.
I think collectors know the history of the brand..and They know there are great pieces for them
I went out and purchased a new Movado Museum Classic after watching a few video's of various UA-cam snobs.
I own several Movado watches. I've owned several for decades. The Movado design is iconic.
Just picked up a pre-loved Movado for $10 and grabbed a new battery for another $10. Think I did well. Nice video.
Wow... nice deal! Congrats. Thank you btw.
MOVADOS looks dope and elegant. Stop hating. Go and buy a citizen then.
About the old Movado bold all blueed out. Bought it before I knew anything really about watches I still love to wear it. But now looking back on it I really kind of got taken for what I paid. But for that case I'll still wear the hell out of it 4:45 👍
modern red 47 owner and i absolutely love it
I do agree with you and even though I have several Movados in my collection I dont wear the minimalist Museum ones that I own.
Style, class, elegance, and many patents too. The other watches at $1,000 or so do not compare.
I'm not trying to be watch snob here... and goes on to be a watch snob lol
I would agree when it comes to the bold line but the older Movados are still great sleek watches and older Movados seem to be going up in price
I own a 1960 14kt movado and absolutely love it
That’s absolutely awesome 👏
So u wouldnt buy a Lexus because it’s owned by Toyota?
Not sure the logic? Huge fan of Toyota and Lexus.
I have a movado sports and I really like it
I got 2 movados, love them
I have 6 movado time pieces ill leave it at that 3 esperanzas ive got a la nouvelle, a museum, and a melano i think i the name which was communion gift when i was young so old i cant remember
👍
I was gona buy a Movado but I changed my mind now.
May I ask what changed your mind specifically. My intent was to educate but not detract if you like the watch.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews I thought they where a little better of a quality then they are.I just took that they're overpriced and they're really not really built that well.I also at one time thought Gucci watches where quality to till I seen a few videos of people explaining that they're really not that great for the price they charge.
I owned that Tissot in the very beginning of the intro. What a beautiful piece!
Tony thank you my friend. Thanks for watching.
I think thats a le locle...i had one too , then i sold it to get a second hand tag heuer
you are so funny. why do you want movado if you are looking for automatic movements or chronographs or simply cheap watches?
I’ve been known to make a few people on my life laugh. Glad to add you to the list.
