    Wow those gears looked in great shape, this truck looks impressive for the amount of beat down you give it!

    What about Liquid Tape.
    When you need to work on it, just pill it.
    I do that in all my reciever boxes, works perfects and is very easy to remove

    I haven’t ran my udr enough to do this yet, I did do the first inspection n added my xtra grease to bullet proof it n we will see how it holds up, for running this thing on 8s it’s held up pretty good for being a 4 n 6s truck

      Yeah I’m happy with it

    I dont think the dirt is getting in through the cracks in the case...I thinks its getting i through the input shaft and axel ends.

    I'm going to open up my rear axle, but I am going to use rtv. To seal it up, that way rtv is removable. When I need to clean it again.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  6 років тому

      I did the RTV things and its a PITA to get apart, when I mentioned the receiver boxes, thats what I used for them. Almost messed up the boxes prying them apart

      Silicone then ? I use it on receiver box sometimes...

    I was told at my hobby shop that Traxxas is making an open diff for the rear axle bro 👍

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  6 років тому +1

      Yeah they are, I have the individual part numbers to do this as well but I’ll probably just get their kit as it’s simply easier to do.

      What are the part numbers for the diff......

    Could you use a gasket maker instead of the glue you used when sealing the case?

  • @mattmayfield1274
    @mattmayfield1274 6 років тому +1

    Marine grease makes for a good seal aswell

    I need to do this. Mine is overheating on one side and spinning off the wheel nuts.

    Thanks for the teardown. Now I know what to expect. Hopefully someone (Traxxas?) Makes an aluminum housing for the planetary to help extract some heat. Another thing is to maybe use ceramic bearings inside the planetary housing.... Thanks again.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  6 років тому

      true to use ceramic bearings in the planetary it would take about 10 of them I think, 8 on the small gears and 1 or two in the middle. I doubt it would make much difference in all honesty but hey the stock bearings are holding up great, except for the input bearing but that thing is spinning really fast so it will always be a concern.

    I know this is old but did sealing the case with the glue work? I’m about to receive my udr in a few days and before I run it I’d like to address any and all issues. Thanks bud.

    Oh wow very complex thing and nice viedeo 👌. But waht does the planetary thing do?

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  6 років тому

      Planetary simply adds reduction to the overall ratio of the axle.

    Thanks for the vid man, getting ready to do this to my udr which I've beat the piss out of. What do you use to clean your gears and parts? Brake or carb clean or somthin?

  • @Warwick3511

    may be you could also try a silicone bead on the gear case.

    • @ExocagedRC

      When I open this up again I may give that a try if this fails.

    Shoe Goo is a good seal I have used it on mine, your Faux rotor's look like they are rubbing on the axle is this because they are aftermarket and slightly deeper.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  6 років тому

      No rubbing that I could tell.

    Did you already maintained center transmission and front diff ? I'd like of videos of these as well...
    Already redid the 3....but the Front still is intimidating for me...never know how exactly to dismantle the front without removing everything (I end up dismantling everything each time....) I'm sure there is a better weay to just access and maintain the front diff.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  6 років тому

      I do have a video on the front diff. I wish I would have videos the recent clean up as I had it all the way out. Bunch of screws everywhere. If you do take the front end all apart take pics of where everything goes.

    yeah, I opened mine up yesterday, and the gears were virtually dry of grease. what did you use to seal the box?

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  6 років тому

      Bilbo Baggins I used a light coating of Amazing Goop in the seams.

    Wow, is there anything right about the udr? So many problems and parts that break.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  6 років тому +1

      Yeah there is a lot right about it. It drives well and looks awesome until the body rips itself apart. LoL

    • @goldsoundz5393
      @goldsoundz5393 6 років тому

      Exocaged RC it drives well, it barrel rolls every corner. :-)

      With this truck you have to throttle and kick the back end out for it to hold, think of it like a powerslide. Also with the mfr rear arms you can tame the rear suspension. I run 50wt front and 75wt rear on mine.

  • @rippertrain
    @rippertrain 6 років тому

    I cheated and didnt pull the axels out. I just pried the main grear open and squirted a bunch of marine grease in there

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  6 років тому

      That’s better than nothing and I’m sure it helped.

      Exocaged RC im hoping so. But now after i watched your video you inspired me to do it right. Good stuff keep up the great work!
