Excellent water crash physics there X-Plane -_-
I agree with you. But they probably thought not many people playing XP11 would be crashing into the ocean.
Daniel K it’s the scenery, the author placed the mesh as land, so the plane just crashes/breaks
In real water in x plane it will sink.
Is the "flight" simulator, not "crash" simulator
Better than stopping it in the moment when a plane first toutches the water and saying: "Game over..."
agreed, the owner who made the scenery has updated it to make it water, kinda fun landing there on 28
Your aircraft must be carrying a full load of Helium.
If you completely fill something with helium, it will be as three times as heavier than filling it with air (density)
@@connectingwings7212 How exactly? Helium is less dense than air, so an aircraft carrying helium should be lighter than a normal aircraft. Take a blimp for example.
@@cyclingcycles7953 Yeah, but a blimp isn't actually "full" of helium. (If it wouldn't have a hard surface, you could push your hand into it [not like a tire])
@@connectingwings7212 You do understand what density is right?
I was making a joke about the aircraft. In reality if it is carrying a full LOAD of helium in weight then it wouldn't be any different from carrying a full load of iron in weight. If however the aircraft's fuselage is filled entirely in helium with the same density as it has in say a blimp, the aircraft would weigh less than a regular aircraft filled entirely with say water. Because the helium is less dense, the amount of stuff that's in the plane is less compared to aircrafts carrying denser materials with the same volume.
@@cyclingcycles7953 If you say it like this, you're right. But if you fill one aircraft's fuselage with the maximum density of helium, and another fuselage with the maximum density of air, the air one would be three times lighter. I meant to "destroy" your joke based on your phrasing

Thanks for the tip. I had a handful of A380s sitting on the ground and I had no idea what to do with them. Luckily, thanks to this video, I realized what to do. I greatly appreciate the advice and the amount of fun I had. Unfortunately, I now also have several counts of vehicular manslaughter but it was worth it. 11/10 would land again.
Fake this is a simulation not live jets
I know this might be a stupid question, but has anyone tried landing from the OTHER side of the runway, where a hill isnt in the way and the runway runs uphill?
Armin Els the airport in not designed for that
hollo dollo it's not design to take an a380 either lol
I was there and yes but they don’t do it a lot because of the wind
Depends on wind direction and go around procedure
Armin Els yes that would help slowing down too
Commentary: Meant to have a healthy dose of sillyness and irreverence.
A. Alaska Airlines 737-800
(Takeoff): Came pretty close to the end but managed to get airborne.
(Landing): Landing nearly crushed two moped's, narrowly missed demolishing a stop-sign, and a wooden barrier, sunk like a brick, bounced a little, and after applying full brakes, and heavy reverse thrust, the plane managed to come to a halt less than 250 feet off the end of the field.
B. Aeromexico MD-80
(Takeoff): Made it, but ruined the perfectly good underwear and shorts of the people off the end of the runway.
(Landing): Landing nearly crushed two mopeds, seemed to bounce off a wooden barrier, landed short (which I'd say was smart in this case), and applied full brakes and reverse thrust. Managed to actually get to a halt faster than the 737-800.
C. USAF SR-71
(Takeoff): Amazingly got into the air in 2/5ths the distance normally listed and blew sand everywhere. Fortunately nobody got knocked around like bowling pins or set on fire by afterburner plume.
(Landing): Floats too long, and then runs off the end of the field, bounces and splashed and tumbled a few times before landing at some guys house causing a fatal heart-attack.
Pilot was crushed to death.
D. Emirates A-380
(Takeoff): Amazingly got into the air, leaving everybody speachless
(Landing #1): Strikes a whole bunch of obstacles short of the aircraft, sucks in a father and child, destroying the engine, then gets the nose gear face-planted into the hill short of the runway and bounces a bunch of time, then plows into a bunch of perfectly good buildings and ruins a whole bunch of grass. The plane probably would have broken apart in a few areas, with the wings sheared off as well. Several people in buildings as well as the crew die.
There are oddly two people standing their stupified holding fishing lines. NTSB investigators have not been able to get much out of them as they're still standing there.
(Landing #2): Emirates amazingly is willing to lend a new A-380 for this test, and the pilot does better this time, landing it short, and manages to come to a halt using heavy braking, and amazingly manages to avoid setting every tire on fire. The crowd goes wild.
Amazing commentary. 10/10.
They were selfie sticks not fishing rods.

According to the airport's data, the runway is 650m (2133ft) long which seems completely insufficient for the A380 to land there. It lands at 265km/h and requires 1900m (6233ft) runway. So you may be able to land there miraculously, but a new set of brakes and tires will be needed......
Thanks for clarification - thought it would be a bit short for the bigger planes .
Yes, no way A380 could land here.
So this plane should be fixed in X-Plane?
This is X-Plane. The newest in the series.
@pilotguy707 No, not true, the published landing figures are generally at max gross weight, you suddenly remove all the passengers and baggage and have minimal fuel like he probably has here, I think you'll find they probably can all do this in real life. It's still highly dangerous though.

This particular model of the a380 is known to be awful, especially for a payware
Supreme Thunder Ooooooof
@@Morrov isnt payware i think there is a free model but is this shit lol
It's mainly the airplane settings, An a380 should never be able to take off from here. Impossible
it's not the sim itself, it's the olane model wich is bad, there are planes like a payware 757 wich has realistic performance
RIP people at 4:12
FUN FACT: The Md-80 has one of the steepest takeoffs of any commercial airliner aircraft cause of the length and rear mounted wings
rear mounted wings?
MatteoCapa96 yes the wings are mounted closer to the rear of the plane rather than being centered

I have a problem with that plane... whats the key to brake the plane, that thing that engines turn
I started not to watch but I stayed with it and glad I did, you did a hellava fine job man, that was great. The SR71 was old anyway, lol.
The SR-71 pilot would have done better if he had deployed the drag chute...
By the way, I've successfully landed a 787 here using X-Plane 10.
Sully would have just used the water like a surfboard.
If a pilot can land perfect everytime then your fine
yea, in the rain, with cross winds, with heavy loads, busted tyres etc.
FAKE! No SR71 pilot would attempt a landing without deploying its parachutes.

The SR-71 requires a long runway of at least 7,000ft. St Barts is only 2,170 so the SR-71 landing was doomed from the start, lol.
Patrick Musson u're damn right, GEN Musson.
Wonder how slow can you get that aircraft without stalling. Would it still need a longer runway or is there a small chance?
Patrick Musson it has parachutes... he didn’t deploy them....
Folks, DO try this at home. In fact, only at home. ☺️
Saw an A380 taking off at Frankfurt airport last year. It looks like it’s just creeping down the runway and then magically it lifts off the ground. It’s amazing something that big can fly.

Too funny. I actually travelled to St. Barth's on my honeymoon and was flown into this airport. The approach was hair raising, comes with a good "pucker factor." Thanks for the funny comments, too.
You can land any aircraft at St Barths if you pull a RyanAir and hit the reversers at 50ft ;^)

Amazing! Until you actually add fuel, passangers, luggage, cargo, meals, duty free... Oh wait, I've made my point 😂
No one cares about your comment moron
Except me - that was my thought too, what's the point in being able to land or take off with a gross weight almost equal to ZFW? Oh wait, it's for fun. Am I a moron too then?
2:57 Who gets flashbacks of that Flight (2012) movie?
Taking off is actually more dangerous and takes up more runway than landing.
in theory yes but for civil passengers the maximum g forces of a emergency break would be too much. And every landing in St Barths with a normal sized plane would be one ;)

are you really arguing about a graphical model of a couple using a selfie stick on a island of a new flight sim that was turned into a video on youtube video of a really brave pilot trying to land aircraft on a nonsensical runway? kind of petty if you ask me.
Fun experiment. In FlightGear I have a method of landing a 777 (even a 707) basically on a dime (or football field). Basically it’s a nose down tactical decent under maximum reverse thrust over the runway, full flaps. Modulating pitch and throttle to maintain proper approach airspeed. Nose up a few hundred feet above the runway and flair. Done right it’s a pillowy soft landing.
4:12 look at those people.
WE’LL BE RIGHT BACK

Durrie McKnew Cars die?

This is a fun one to revisit (due to a mention on an AvWeb video.) An A380, with low fuel and no passengers, and flying below Vref for that weight (there is a good margin, at least 30%), will come in relatively slowly (just over 100 kts. airspeed). In ground effect, it can fly _below_ the stall speed (ask any pilot who's come in "hot".) For many airplanes, the published landing distances are conservative, and often don't include the use of thrust reversers, or flying at 1.1 Vso, or other cheats.
I'll have to try this in MSFS 2020.
I’m sending this to my friend who works for the FAA, he’ll get a kick out of this. Very nice!
fracking majestic seing that A380 land! haha !
The graphics is so good that you could see the thrust reverser of the McDonnell and the end of the A380, where it slides to close.
I love my job and I notice these little things. Wonder what I'll see in the future, in this little lifetime I have
It'll be exciting to witness the transition to electric aircraft.
Well, there's alot of considerations, however the Bombardier C300 seems promising and Airbus apparently funds and have partnership with Bombardier to compete against the new Boeing 787, Dreamliner. Now, that's a near future
CS300 is such a piece of an ass. Electric arching on the fuel filter, engines that need to be replaced every two months. An aircraft that sometimes just won't start properly unless you hard restart it.
A380 is insanely big. on it's takeoff, I saw 1 wing hit a tree *went through a tree* and hit that scenery couple on landing.
mowens07 Gaming K?
Those treehuggers will sure be pissed. It reminded me of a similar incident when LA cut down several trees to allow the Space Shuttle Endeavour to move from LAX Airport to its final resting place at the California Science Center.
I didn’t notice much technique (could have missed it) but here’s some tips you may / may not know about to improve these numbers. Takeoff: full 100%+ spool up before brake release, flaps zero on the roll but halfway down the runway dump them to full. Landing: slooooow as possible, soon as wheels touch raise the flaps completely, as the A/C slows down pull full aft yoke for aerodynamic braking. And of course could choose the other runway.
Also reduce the weights to just a few hundred pounds above empty. Just enough for one attempt
Brakes are melted, tires are all blown and you managed to make a hard landing. Which is tons of inspections. But nonetheless, she is down safely and people can enjoy their vacation till the jet is fixed 😂
Being a real pilot its kinda hard job for us.
I don''t often post, but I actually liked this video. It made me laugh. Good stuff. Might have to give it a go..
Wtf how were you able to land it there?
Mr. Moo hacka
Add pax, cargo and luggage weight, not a chance. Pretty fun video though. The SR-71 was priceless. 😂

Damn forgot the seatbelt sign
Landing track too short. No margin of error. Very danger.
It’s probably not that it is not long enough, but how wide it is. As you can see in the last clip the a380 clips the wind pole and other various structures as it lands. And would require a very skilled pilot to land there.
