The Avengers - Wherever You Will Go [John Steed & Emma Peel]

- This video is inspired by ‘The Forget-Me-Knot’, which of course is bittersweet as it’s the last episode featuring Emma Peel. Steed and Mrs Peel had such a special bond throughout their time together on the show and I just wanted to explore this nostalgia from Emma’s perspective as she bids farewell. What does she think about leaving? And would she ever come back?...
I think they were the best partnership on the show, and Patrick and Diana certainly had a great friendship and affection for each other which is evident in their final scenes together.
I will have some more classic movie videos coming up soon. It’s been a while but I have a few ideas in the works. - Розваги
I have seen many beautiful women in my 63 years, but Diana Rigg was I think the tops! The eyes? the smile? She just smouldered!
Has anybody noticed that most of the time they smiled at each other when they filmed...It must have
been a great sympathy, affection, tenderness between these two...l love both of them💕 ... RIP
English beauty and grace at its finest. There's nothing more inspiring.
And wit, humour and modesty.
@@rogerbennett9641 + understatement and double entendre. They worked in so many of the linguistic subtleties that the English worked out over the centuries. As an American boy in a small town I paid a great deal of attention to how they could handle the rough trade with such aplomb. Bravo!
@@gnolan4281 Well said, The Avengers is a unique series depicting the peak of English exceptionalism, humour and social beauty before socialism destroyed British values and social progress. It is a stand alone phenomenon which has everything I could ask for and more in a light entertainment show. The fact that it gained fans all around the world makes it remarkable and is I think due in part to the honesty of it's delivery and intent.
It seems to me this was a highpoint in English television production due to the high quality of actors, production staff and writers available and the lack of focus on financial rewards. There were many outstanding tv plays and series aired at the time all run on a shoestring and more reliant on the quality of the actors and imagination of the writers than anything else.
A fond farewell to one classy lady. You're needed, Mrs. Peel --- now more than ever.
After nearly 50 years, I still love The Avengers, primarily because of the relationship between the characters of Steed and Mrs. Peel. The chemistry between Diana Rigg and Patrick Macnee (and their friendship) fueled the show. This is the only Avengers fan tribute that captures that magic quality of their relationship, both actors and roles. This is the only Avengers tribute worth watching. The soundtrack is perfect, the editing is masterful. Bravo! It brought tears to my eyes.
Spot on 100%
I agree! Lovely! Avengers Steed and Emma! My favorites for all time. Have the entire Steed/Emma DVD collection. Never tire of watching these.
It is a great tribute and I am glad I found it tonight, but to be fair, the "Short Skirt, Long Jacket" tribute is pretty dang good too.
Oh gosh, this made me cry. They are both gone now. Doesn’t seem possible. ❤️😥😇😇
Same,
Life will never be the same, it's hard to believe they only exist now in video and in my mind. The future seems destined to be full of sorrow.
I am so old when they announced they were doing an "Avengers" movie, I was waiting for a movie with Emma Peel and John Steed.
And what about Ralph Fiennes & Uma Thurman?
@@juliozamoranocastillo7196 they're good but the movie is not
You and me both, James
I had a 3 minute discussion with my 15 year son about The Avengers. Was amazed he had heard of it, and intrigued what he thought of Mrs Emma Peel.
“Emma who?” he asked.
Nvm.
@@albertbatfinder5240 Marvel Comics has a lot to answer for.
One of the best tributes to Steed and Mrs. Peel. They’re was a tremendous bond between them. You have captured their relationship beautifully. The Avengers has a special fondness in fans hearts that goes beyond just a TV show. It’s about the relationship between the leads. Weather it be Mrs. Gale, Mrs. Peel or Tara. But the Steed/Emma pairing has a special kind of magic.
This is one of my favorite Steed and Emma videos. Patrick Macnee said that when Diana kissed him goodbye in the Last show that he went directly to his dressing room and cried. He just knew he would miss her terribly.
They really did have a wonderful chemistry, wit, charm, grace, clever, fun, but never over the top serious. The character of Emma Peel was a heart throb for many a young man at the time, myself included.
UncleEarl97 what made the chemistry between these two lovely people so great is that they truly loved and respected one another and it shows sweetly in their interaction on Screen. They loved working together. Watch Diana's comments about Patrick on his "This is Your Life" 1984. He cried when her tribute was shown. So sweet.
She’s always remained a heart throb with me… so, so beguiling …like watching raindrops flashing in the sunlight…
I can truly believe that. The tears in his eyes when she left were not acting
I can't imagine how Patrick came through their separation, Linda must have helped with both being in Diana's last episode.
"It's quite all right, really, she's having a rest. We'll be going on soon. There's no hurry, you see. We have all the time in the world" (Her Majesty's Secret Service, 1969). I cried then. I cry now.
I still remember watching this episode thinking to myself, oh please don't go please don't go please please. I have the episode on DVD and it still upsets me to watch it. Sigh.
I live in London and was videoing at Duchess Mews where Steed lived. Do you a know an episode which shows Steed outside his house ... on Duchess Mews?
Thank You.
Amazing video. And to think this series is from the 1960s.
Very, very splendid. You captured the special and enduring romance that is, and forevermore will be, Steed and Peel. Well done, indeed.
So lovely. Very dear to me.
Steed and Peel in 1960's England, nothing can beat it for me. See the Avengers and die.
What a novel and delightful take on these icons; rooted deep in my childhood but a constant companion throughout this life.
I remember growing up in northern Ontario playing out in the bush with friends, 'cause that's what you did, and rushing home to watch The Avengers. I'm talking over 50 years ago! Yet, that show still resonates- adventure, goodness, being on the right side of things. Can happily say a lot of my life turned out the same.
She was just so remarkable , shines on all occasions. Super star ⭐️
Just my opinion, but one of the most beautiful, charismatic, sexy women to ever appear on TV or the big screen. I hate to see her go, but I love to watch her leave.
Still in love with her
@@JohnWilson-mp7xh And always will be.
Yes they are beautiful
Rip Dame Diana. The epitome of 1960’s class...
That was just last week… it couldn’t have been sixty years ago!
I couldn’t wait for Emma Peel, and Honey West. One drove a Lotus, and one drove a Cobra. I couldn’t miss those shows!
Nice tribute to a wonderful actress. RIP dear Diana...
I never met Diana rigg and of course I'll never meet an m appeal. We lost Dane Diana but will always have Mrs Peel on celluloid. Been crying my eyes out all week long. Love you Dame Diane and Emma I love you more!
This was very well done, loved it! They were extraordinary in their chemistry, playfulness, wit, charm, grace, and cleverness while delivering style in a TV show that was fun, never too serious, and of course there we were with Emma Peel and John Steed every week. I bought the full four year set of the Diana Rigg years in The Avengers. Diana had so many cute mannerisms that made her so endearing, and still do to this day. The Avengers with Mrs. Peel forever!
UncleEarl97 e
What a great show it was.
Nicely edited. How I miss Emma!
Great job on this video. It conveys so well how much Steed and Emma loved each other. Patrick and Diana loved each other and it came across onscreen in their magical chemistry. Textbooks can be written about their chemistry which is unmatched to this day. They're so beautiful together!!
Well made clip, deserves more like! I remember watching The Avengers with my parents when I was a kid and developed a major crush on her. I never told them about it until Rigg's recent passing. I'm sure it was a sad day to millions of young boys and grown men when she left the show.
The feels have killed me. I'm dead now. Thank you for breaking my heart...again xD Steel (my ship name for them) always kills me
That makes two of us, sis. 💔
It broke my heart. I lost my friend my love. A bittersweet reminder of this awful truth for me with this tribute to beautiful Emma.
My former company owned the rights in The Avengers TV series, and this gave me great pleasure. Now I understand that there are Avengers movies (if you can call them that) and every time I see a reference to one of them it makes me sad because I think of Steed and Mrs. Peel, back in those long ago days when television was worth watching.
Heartbreaking...nothing last forever...All the good things disappear...Miss Peel,Your needed...The world need U....
Wonderful song absolutely WRECKED
Wonderful! a sweet Promise.....
This video makes me cry today. RIP Diana
Quite a show and never duplicated really. Lovely. Thanks for the memories
I'm getting too choked up. All I can say is, Thanks you for this video.
Adorable. Never noticed how many scenes they were kind of "nuzzling" in. I would have had a lot of trouble working with her. She's uniquely gorgeous. Still have me bowler!
Pat Macnee said that the sheer physicality of being near her drove him to distraction. I can imagine! Personally, I kind of think he was in love with her. I've seen a number of interviews where he talked about working with her. It's very telling!
Very nice. Their episode, "The House That Jack Built" gave me such nightmares as a child! Emma Peel, you are still needed.
She was my favorite actress. No one since like her. Liked Patrick Macnee also. They were great together.
Rigg was such an elegant lady, and Mac knee was the embodiment of the true British gentleman. Steed was Graham Hill, Desmond Llewlyn, and Sean Connery, David Niven all rolled into a total class act.
why am i crying
Inès Héral me too. Bittersweetness
Why oh why can't we make time stand still...
Mrs Peel you are still very much needed. If only. I wish you success on your new journey that we all must eventually take.
I usually despise remakes, but this one is a winner
Wow you managed to turn the Avengers into something melancholic and sad and that's amazing, since the show itself does not have an ounce of that...
It's not that this video is melancholic - although it made me shed a tear, it has that effect because it puts us face to face with loss; those magic moments took place in a long-ago time when we were young and life was still a vista spread out before us.
Criatura adorable y distinguido caballero, la mejor pareja televisiva de todos los tiempos. Señora Peel y señor Steed eternos
OMG so beautiful! Made me have all the *feels* *sobs* Bravo! And all us SEDDI fans *clap* in recognition of your masterpiece! Brilliant! xxx
R. I. P. Fabulous Diana.
I recently saw all The Avengers episodes on a Memory TV channel even starting with those prior to Honor Blackman, since the airing of The Avengers in the United State started with Mrs. Peel. I really liked the Honor Blackman episodes since I was seeing them for the first time. This episode with Mrs. Peel is a favorite as I did not recall seeing it in the 1960s. The episode was very well done yet also very sad seeing Mrs. Peel take off with her husband and saying goodbye to Mr. Steed as Linda Thorson takes over. Mrs. Peel went on to have a very good life. From St. Louis
chemistry is everything , rest well both of you
As with the Bond film O.H.M.S.S which is the only 007 film where at the end I have a tear in my eye
Splendid. "Emma, Thank you"
Siempre será mi favorita Emma Peel Diana Rigg... La mejor y más bella de todas. Te adoro Dame Diana Rigg.....
Nobody could replace Diana Rigg
Love it!!
Wonderful!!!!
Simply stunning, thank you
Brilliant!
Diana so beautiful look at those cheekbones and beautiful brown eyes. Steed and Emma, they were equal in class and wit, that's what made their chemistry so magical and why we still yearn for it
Man from uncle, secret agent man, Honey West!! But I didn't stay up late, fer any of them...CLASS,absolutely class! Lady is fine...
Very nicely done. No words for loosing our Emma...no words.
SOBBING
Awesome! Well done and thank-you for producing this.
Great video! Love all The Avengers ones you've made! Hope so see you make more soon! :)
breathtaking. thank u so much 4 this, x.
Grazie! Indimenticabile Emma, indimenticabile John...
Great combo ❤
my alltime favorite couple on tv
Wow! Thank you very much for this clip, whoever you are......
Go with the wind, Diana.
We will miss you.
But never forget you.
Thank you for the memories.
🖖👽
Excellent!
I remember when my wife used to love me like that. She was, and somehow still is, the love of my life.
I remember as a little girl wanting to be Emma Peel.
In a way, her portrayal defined what I sought in women as I matured.
One I met in ‘69 @uni in chemistry class, remarkably like ‘Mrs. Peel’ physically, but also with that optimistic determination, wit, & pertness, & I’ve maintained a friendship ever since.
Wow. Beautifully done.
Very, stunning
This made me tear up now that she's gone. The best day I ever had at work was when she came to visit, in the early 90's.
me too, she visited my wet fish van several decades ago, a very strange experience! i believe i met richard aspland on the same week!
Ahora lloro por una adolescencia que se fue y no vuelve más
I just had to cry
For a fleeting moment, they were special.
Legenden sterben Nie!
I REMEMBER❤❤ like it was not very long ago RIP💕😇💕😇💕
Loved this program when l was a kid ,looking back the Characters Steed and Peel really did have a chemistry together. but when Diana Rigg left l gave it a try but the magic was gone and l never watched again
Who could blame them for being in love. They were made for each other. I will never forget them.
Looove your video to Emma 😊👍👍
Poignant and beautiful.
5 stars to this clip.
Any song works with diana rigg in the video.
They loved each other so very much, yet it wasn't meant to be. Heartbreaking. It makes one weep.
DAMN! THE ONES WE LOVE 💕
Always loved this video, much sadder now both Patrick Macnee and Diana Rigg are no longer with us.... Hope you return with a new video at some point!
You got me a bit teary
Rip Diana Rigg💕
I just hope before Diana died she realised how many people loved her. There will never be another
Shit, ALLERGIES!!! Beautiful :')
Diana Rigg (RIP)
Diana Rigg's death was announced world-wide this morning by her daughter, on September 10 2020. She will be remembered for many things, one of the best being for playing the quintessential 1960's woman.
