Brilliant filming as it happens !! No fancy gimmicks editing, actors ,no music , real people ! Doing there job , best film in a long time , thanks very much , !
Blimey. I did not think we made anything in this country anymore! Great to see we still have people with practical skills. I started off as a Royal Arsenal apprentice in 1975 and went to some interesting places in the country. Royal Enfield Small Arms Factory and ROF Nottingham to see the big gun being forged and turned. Hundreds if not thousands of people working in engineering and proud of it. We can do it and do it properly, not some back street Indian company with no H&S, dressed in rags with safety flip flops. Hope this firm goes on for another 100 years and more. Make Britain Great Again.
Old time motorcycle mechanic. Loved doing wheels. Custom builds for supermotos etc. 80 yrs young still riding
Quite possibly the best engineering video I have seen on UA-cam, no gimmicks, no music, and an extremely skilled workforce
Hey Bernie, that's a really nice comment, we were really impressed by the crew at Central Wheel Components
Brilliant viewing thank you. The lack of music and fancy editing effects and purely concentrating on the content reminded me why I stopped watching broadcast TV. Once again great job will be sharing with many.
I never realised that there was still such a demand for spokes. Fascinating video.
On two or three occasions , these guys " Central Wheel Components " have found solutions for my Motorcycle rims , spokes supply & Ceramic coating for my own bikes. They did this efficiently , with a sense of humor , and each time made my request priority.
I am formerly from Birmingham , but now live in Spain.
Every time its been worth my peace of mind to always return to CWC.
Thank you CWC & all the team working in the backroom.
5 star Service.
As I sit here about 2 mile away from Central, my 850 Norton commando sits here with CWC wheels, and I’ve dragged and had posted many sets of wheels out to Dubai for bikes and dirt bikes, great company and a great service, Steve’s a bit of a Legend at CWC👌🏻😎
Was he the spokesperson? He he!
I've bought wheels from these guys and they are great! Both wheels and company. Really wellmade film. All about the subject, no crap music. Thanks!
WOW. how interesting was that, I never imagined this was so involved and “hands on"
Thanks for filming this. I've always wanted to see around Central Wheel factory.
Great Video!! Thanks much. I echo all of the great comments in this comment column. My hats off to all of the employee's at this manufacturing facility. Have a beautiful day!! Illinois, USA
Fantastic, very informative and gratifying to witness a successful UK based manufacturer/fabricator. I didnt realise the spectrum of their expertise. Long may it live. I have a bike collection which will need central wheels' help very soon.
Wow! What a superb episode. Scott Leonard was a splendid ambassador for all the great team he has with him old hands and new blood alike. Beautiful craftsmanship and what a result we see on the racks. Central Wheel Components restore wheels and our faith in British people and manufacturing. Bravo guys! 👍👏👌😮
Glad you enjoyed it Ian, we had a great time there and really enjoyed making this one
Completely fascinating. Love that this company showcases the modern progressions, while paying homage to the classics and their many, many years of doing this. Mr. Leonard led us all so easily in the tour….informative, charming…Thank you!
Great to see manufacturing in the uk. So used to seeing stuff like this being made in India..
Great video, guys. What a brilliant company Central Wheel Components is! Fantastic craftsmanship, bringing us the best of old-school and new technology.
Excellent!! You can never have too much detail ....... I love it :)
Fascinating walk around a superb establishment. I'd love a chat with Steve the Meriden guy, he must have some stories to tell :)
It makes you see why the costs are there....its a lot of process and machinery.........I will definitely use them for my wheel needs....thanks for the video
Amazing video. Love the Channel and keep up the great work. Glad to see real craftsmen are alive and well.
Absolutely fascinating. Thoroughly enjoyed that.
great video, good to see that we still have people who can work at this skill level,
Didn’t think it would be so interesting , thanks
I could watch that all day.👍👍👍
Thanks for the tour, their air tight tubeless conversion looks like a great upgrade and reasonable price on the clear and informative web site.
Great to see a British manufacturer thriving, it proves it can be done here.. Just a shame our last tyre manufacturer (Avon) decided to close their UK factory, I bought their tyres specifically because they were British made, now I don't have any choice but to buy foreign made tyres so I may as well go to Michelin, Bridgestone or Continental etc.. etc..
Some really clever people working in one place. Amazing
Very enjoyable watch. Good to see how varied different wheel types were. Thank you.
I sent them my xs650 wheels to be rebuilt to completely different factory specs 5 years ago and they made a great job. Quite nice to see the factory and where they were made.
I buy from these guys exclusively, best products and service around.
Excellent, guys! Nice to see all the work that goes into making and constructing wheels, a component that a lot of people take for granted.
Great vid! Central Wheels powder-coated my Aprilia Oz forged rims a few years ago.
The finish and quality of workmanship and service was amazing!
10/10
Best video I have seen in ages, great workforce! And new science! Thank You All
Vert interesting! Thank you for showing this.
I enjoyed watching that, especially as I will be having some wheels to do in the next few months! 👍
My TZ250 project has CWC spokes! Brilliant service - 10 days from ordering a custom set to having them at my door, in Johannesburg, South Africa...
Absolutely Brilliant Video. Its Great to See a Top Quality Manufacturer In the UK. Very Talented Workmen Doing An Awesome Job. 👍
i had two wheels made there they did a great job.
Used these guys for years for tyres , had a few sets of wheels powder coated , not the cheapest but you get what you pay for , quality and service is excellent.
Well done Scott. That was a very professional overview. Thanks
well done Scott.😊!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 and all guys at Central wheel.
Love this video! Thanks
Had some CWC wheels on my KTM950. A thing of beauty they were.
I worked at the old CWC gaff which was demolished for the M6 Toll. I transferred there when Groutage & Ingram (Owned by the same family) slowed down for the winter. Went from making concrete products to running a Straightener, Header and Threader. I was taught by one of the family (Frank) how to operate the machines just before he retired. This was during 1994/5.
I want this business to assemble and true my Triumph Dunlop rims. this is the place to go for restoration perfection.
😊Great thanks for that 😊
Brilliant to see a proper British company hand made product from craftsmen ! Could you go to Talon and do one there that would similar and interesting another great company
That's a good idea Dan, thanks.
First class video. Very interesting and very well explained.
Glad you liked it!
absoluty first class vid well worth watching top guys
Yo! DJ Spokeseee in da house! Givin' us da tour and that.... but heck yes, this is true talent being totally brilliant at what you do. I still dont quite get how to start spoking a bare wheel/hub as at 33:25 .... same thing with taking a gearbox apart!!! thanks for posting.
Brilliant...👍
Fascinating. Great post, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
Was interesting to see where and how you built the wheels and spokes for my 76 Yamaha DT400.
I had a Triumph 750 rear wheel fitted with new rim, spokes, tyre, tyre securing bolts, inner tube, and rim tape by CWC. The rim tape is fitted to protect the inner tube rubbing against the nipples to prevent a puncture and requires two additional holes to accommodate the two tyre securing bolts. I got a puncture at 70mph shortly after fitting my newly built wheel. Once home and tyre removed, the two additional holes hadn’t been made in the rim tape. Instead of making the two holes in the tape to accommodate the securing bolts it had been moved out of the way allowing the tube to rub against the nipples. The puncture occurred at one of these points. I would urge anyone having a new wheel requiring tyre securing bolts to watch the fitting of the rim tape and tyre securing bolts to ensure this never happens again.
Great video lads , can you do one ..at the new norton factory ?🙄
good spoke skills 🎉🎉🎉🎉 happy Eid.😊
Still using some ancient machines,( and staff)
I never built wheels im now retierd thialand still building bikes here every litle bike shop build wheel 14 year old he douse mine for 150 bat ( 3 pounds) pluse rim spokes 200 bat is not worth doing it my self
The rim punches are either mechanical screw or PNEUMATIC. I did not see any hydraulic punches, IMHO.
I admire the guys who balances out wire spokes wheels by visual and measurements unlike the monkeys who stick a weight where the computer points u to... 😂😂. People never understand how comfortable wire spokes are even if they are maintenance heavy.
You seem to be confusing wheel/tyre balancing with wheel trueing, two completely different things...
your overspray must be more than 60%, start electrocoating ..good for the environment...good for cutting cost..
