  • I make Spoked Steel Wheels in an Industrial Style, using Rebar for the Spokes. I love anything industrial and if it has rebar in it then it is even better, and this project is one of my favorites, maybe because of the bit where I bend the flat bar into rings, using just a hammer, I have done this before, but I have never tried to video it before.
It was a fun rebar project to make and I hope you found something of use in my video or at least found it entertaining.
The wheels are 215mm (8.5 inches) High, the flat bar is 6mm thick (1/4 inch), and 50mm wide (2 inches) The rebar is 26mm across the widest part.
The main tools I used, were a MIG welder, angle grinder, drill, Hammer, and bench vise.
Tools / Supplies, I often use are.

This guy reminds me a lot of my dad, he was always making some cool project like homemade fireplace tools complete with with fire tongs, poker, shovel and stand. I still have a huge completely functional bear trap made with teeth and double sprung. He even made his own hot rivets he forged and hammered in. Of course he did that forging on his homemade anvil. I sure miss him. ❤️

Great wheels Gavin! I have made some steel wheels for my hit and miss engine carts. Instead of bending band iron I had a steel shop cut 3 inch wide pieces of 8 inch diameter steel pipe. The five spokes is great, not often you see 5 spokes, nice touch! I also like your hub design, plenty of "bearing" surface but looks proper on the axle end. The castle nut is another nice touch that makes it look the part! Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

Hi Gavin, great work yet again.
Showed this video to my dad 85
He was a wheelright in his day.
    Say,s your a real craftsman.
He said making round from straight is an art.
But just thinks you should modify lump hammer with curved bottom to help with shape of bar to round.
Love your work, just asked my nephew on railroad to get me a piece of track to make anvil.

Thank you very much, I am glad you and Dad liked it, he is giving me very good advice a curved bottom on my hammer would also have reduced many of the marks on the inside of the ring, say thank you to him. I wish you both the best, and I wish you the best for your anvil project. Cheers!
