I'm so happy that you keep using sorcerer with lightning build this season, I enjoyed so much the Oculus build and the Thor one. Keep up the good work, and thanks for the builds that you bring
Thank you for your continuous support! The Thor build is going to be even better this season as the attack speed fix for Ball Lightning. It is going to have so much fun in Season 2 with so many options!
There is a slight tweak to this that has come about. you use 3 skill points to get destructive chain lightning but do not have it on your active commands, you set chain lightning enchant and you put the get 3 mana every time chain lightning bounces aspect. You also get the legendary node static surge for more mana and vulnerable trigger. Between the recharging aspect and this and the crackling energy, you have unlimited mana for infinite ball lightnings. Its pretty busted. Unfortunately Im already losing interest in this season as even though the new stuff is exciting, theres still no real end game except for trying to chase better gear. Already beat all the bosses and im only in the mid 80s.
I understand so many people want some "magical end game" to do, but what i dont understand is why cant this be it? People absolutely love diablo 2 and play it to this day religiously, but all you do is farm the same boss over and over again, the same runs over and over again. All for gear, which is the point. So whats the difference here? Like im not understanding what people exactly want for end game because they tried to match diablo 2's end game pretty much which is what people wanted but for some reason its like people want an MMO type of end game. Should they make weekly bosses like "raids"? Maybe NMD's go infinite? idk
@@christaylor3604the difference with D2 endgame is that the mechanically same dopamine slot machine works better if you expect or wish to drop an item with a unique name in a more or less restricted pool. Dropping stats as we do in this game is less dopamine-enhancing. The rest is exactly the same as you pointed out.
I guess I want a reason to chase the high end gear. My gear is no where near optimized and just blazing through everything. I need a purpose to chase gear. Nightmare dungeons going up to 150 could be it. Raids you described. Heroic bosses etc. Something. The fact that it has no end game is not disputed. It's a known flaw. They will fix it eventually but it should have been a priority
@@Aneyou Diablo 2 never had endgame bosses yet people still farm happily the same stuff that was available 20 years ago. As i said the problem is in the item naming. We are simple creatures.
I don't know how accurate this is, but it seems likely that attack speed for ball lightning isn't necessarily a damage boost. Apparently it might be lowering the dmg ticks, so the *overall* dmg is the same. Effectively meaning attack speed is for going after lucky hit procs, for example, but not dps numbers directly. Based on my experience I'm inclined to believe this -- however, it also remains to be seen.
It was like that pre Season 2 that I was pretty annoyed the ball lightning passive doesn't work as the description. But it is fixed in Season 2 as the patch notes explicitly mentioned it. You can google it. Dev may introduce a new bug as some people are saying the damage is bugged but the attack speed bonus should be applied properly even if it is a new bug and after the new bug is fixed. Ball Lightning should perform much better in Season 2 anyways. We will see how it goes.
Ah I see! And so yeah, agreed it should just be stronger this season. Sure, maybe the buff has overtuned the skill a bit, but all the clamor about the atk speed being bugged doesnt make much sense to me. It was specifically made to function that way.. Here's hoping they just let Sorc have a moment in the sun. (Meanwhile, necro continues to erase content unmolested. Lol)
Hi there! This build is absolutely fantastic! I was doing a Firewall build while leveling, but this Ball Lightning build is so much more powerful!! I'm currently level 65 in World Tier 4 and find myself to be pretty squishy. When pushing for higher Nightmare Dungeons way above our level and doing open world content, do you recommend swapping one of the abilities for a defensive cooldown like Flame Shield? Or does this build just hit a wall at some point? Thanks for all your great work!!!
Hi thanks for sharing your experience! I am testing an endgame Ball Lightning build at the moment and I am trying to resolve the squishiness that I've experienced a lot too! Stay tuned! You can also give it a try to this CL & BL mixed build that I find fun and efficient to run too ua-cam.com/video/B8cMK1vQyeM/v-deo.html
This is powerfull build, but require a lot of mana CR and at least one mana generator. On low levels is not that shiny. But i do find out that in Chainligtning build we are able to have Lightnings Ball around us also, and its casted for free if we use Aspect of Overwhelming Currents, and Gravitational Aspect.

Hey thx for the build. What do you think works best for eternal realm ? A ball lightning or a chain lightning build ? Also would you change something at your chain lightning build ( eternal realm) since last patch ? thx
If you are looking for a pure efficiency side, Ball Lightning has higher damage. Personally I prefer Chain Lightning and use Ball Lightning at enchantment(Thor) for leveling as I don't need to move, or aim. I did have lots of changes as 1.2.0 has lots of major changes. For Chain Lightning check d4builds.gg/builds/0e579d08-0de4-4837-b743-b4bdd5c97180/ For Ball Lightning check d4builds.gg/builds/66ed1355-0f36-41f6-8637-c5421bb6b02b/ Both builds work in eternal. Just ignore everything in the vampiric power part.
Yeah CL enchant is better if you are pushing high NM Tiers or fighting Uber Bosses. I recommend to pick destructive CL for more crackling energy -> more mana.
I believe it is better to put Gravitational in Weapon slot cos it is always a flat 50% dmg for staff but Control is conditional - even at 70% inc dmg it only happens if something like stun or frozen happens else you will not get that increase. If Arclash is always stunning the enemy then possible.@@ayajamesaya
James I put on my thinking cap and came up with the best Vampiric powers ever - testing it now and it is amazing - here try it out yourself - Anticipation, Moonrise, Accursed Touch, Undying and Domination. Hi James forget about the Ice Blades - the Vulnerable is not impt. Rather I got fire bolt and 3/3 devouring blaze instead better option it last a while. I got lucky cos I have 4pts for frost nova, teleport and ball lightning from gear so I can spare a few points extra on skill tree. : ) @@ayajamesaya
1. Gravitational on weapon is better than Control yes. I recommend to put Ancient Flame on 2h weapon that is 100% -> 200% BL damage if you'd like to fully optimize the performance. I used Control for simplicity in early/mid game. 2. Your selection of Vampiric Power sounds great! I tested Accursed Touch and it is very powerful in group fights. 3. Ice Blades Enchant is aimed for vulnerability for early game until the legendary node in static surge board is unlocked. Another benefit is it offers 2-4 conjurations for a 6%-12% global damage boost because of conjuration mastery. Let's take the average 9% and Firebolt + Devouring Blaze can beat it if you have more than 9%/21%=42.5% crit chance. If you have that then great! A few extra notes, I know that fiery surge was bugged before Season 2 but not sure if it is fixed. Have you noticed a difference in your mana regeneration when you run firebolt enchant? Nice skill ranks from gear btw :)
Damage wise Ball Lightning is super good in Season 2 but Chain Lightning and Ball Lightning are different combat styles. If you got the gravitational aspect I highly recommend you switching immediately to try whether you like it not. You can start from just switching skill tree plus wearing the aspect.
Yeah you can use the Oculus in this build too. Just use the Control Aspect on offhand is good. Treat Oculus as a defensive weapon and a different combat style.
If you have a max value of 50% and put it at Amulet, it is 75%. You can also put it on a two-handed weapon for 100% if you got a good two-handed weapon as long as you have 20%+ mana cost reduction on Amulet for even higher damage.
Not sure what you mean. The key passive is not useful in the build. We trade both the key passive and an amulet aspect for a 75% attack speed bonus, as it improves 150% damage for Ball Lightning.
Treat it as a supportive skill. It’s rare a support skill can boost the main dps of a build by 40%. And I used might aspect for a 20% DR. Plus it gives movement speed, faster farming and more crit chance if you run Esu’s Heirloom.
