I’m glad you mentioned ramen’s origins actually being Chinese. It seems many don’t know this. The same is for gyozas… one on my friends who lived in Japan for a few years was surprised when I said gyoza is of Chinese origin and not Japanese, even though his wife is Chinese, and he has eaten lots of Chinese food, he never made the connection 😅
When I heard "Mitsuwa" I know I'd been there before... I went to one near Chicago about 15 years ago. Amazing store. I remember buying Japanese knives, ingredients for sushi, tons of seasonings and sauces (I didn't really know what they were)... My only regret was that I didn't plan on eating there, and they had some great food options. You can easily spend hours in the store.
Very fresh raw fish. I always get the sashimi and sushi at the supermarket, a tempura from the food court, and strawberry short cake at the bakery. The ramen is pretty good too. Spend about $70 to $100 for food with leftovers to take home. Great meal.
you should try hannosuke. i always eat there when i visit tokyo. their tendon is good. santouka is ramen chain from hokkaido, their ramen style is different from like ichiran which is hakata style from fukuoka.
this is my hometown! I have very fond memories of going to Mitsuwa while I was growing up. I still go back to visit pretty often but the town has def become too overpopulated and condensed for my taste
i remember coming here when i was younger and they had a little anime figurine shop in the shopping center...i went recently and it was closed down...i was so disappointed
I went there after going to the korean mega spa across the street a long time ago. I have to say, if you like beautiful half asian half white girls, this is definitely the spot for you.
Nothing like the Japanese supermarkets around my area. Ok UA.Thats one more added to the list i got to go to.
Yep it's a great place to buy imported Japanese groceries and the food court is great too. I recommend checking it out!
@@uaeats Will do. Thanks for sharing.

Mitsuwa is in Edgewater. Haven’t been there in ages. My fave Japanese market in Jersey. ❤
Are you from NJ or NY?
You should go check out H Mart in NJ if you like Mitsuwa
What a treasure.
It's a great place!
