- In this video, Alisia McClain shows you how to make a laser cut wood lampshade from 1/8” plywood. Alisia started with a template and cut 100 parts on the CO2 laser at FirstBuild. After assembling the pieces, the end result is a cool shape reminiscent of a pine cone. An awesome new DIY project for makers!

Beautiful! A lazer cutter is def on MY wishlist! 💯❤
Excellent work. I like it.
awesome good job, I've cut the same lamp design including 120 leaves using the same wood material, but I'm going to hang it from the ceiling, thank you for the beautiful video.
Great 👍🏽 job ❤
Wow good job
Cool lamp
Thanks Austin:)
Amazing :)
Cool lamp!
🙏🙏
@@Firstbuild hi from were can we get this file template ?
That was fun!
Thanks David! Love your videos. Louisville isn't too far from Toledo, we should get together and make something
@@Firstbuild hello I have a dile and I've made my lights. but I saw a lamp with the same model except for the leaves it has a maple shape. can you help change it in the leaf. send in my account giwangpvcarts@gmail.com. thank you
wouldn't resizing the dezign mess up the fit as the grooves wouldn't match with the material thickness anymore?
which is the maximum widht or depth that the laser can cut? and how much is the cost of this unit?
Where u get the template?
Awesome! But be careful running your laser at 100% power. Not really supposed to go over 95% typically to extend the life of the tube
You're assuming this isn't already capped at the POT dial on the PSU or in the DSP software. Just because you put in 100% in the job parameters doesn't mean you're automatically running the tube at it's full current value. I am sure this laser being in a makerspace, the guild members most likely know what they are doing.
Tuffenough4u you reckon? Maybe so, but never hurts to make a suggestion in the case that it isn’t set that way
How can i get this files
Amazing mam , if you don’t mind can you share :)
Hi mam ,awesome video, can u send me cutting template.
How much cost mem
Can u give me dxf file??
THAT’S MY AUNT
hey its me:)
Hi, I hope you’re doing fine this days, Im wondering if I can have a copy of your template, I just need it for my school project
Can i get this ai file?
Hi, Can i have a copy of the template please, I need it for my school project
I bought plans from Woodglut and did it very quickly.
link ai flie please
And that's why I don't really like laser cutters in combination with wood. The wood looks much too burnt for my taste. Maybe a cnc mill would be a better choice?
all you have to do is put a sheet of masking tack paper on the surface and peel off after cutting. wood looks perfect
@@phazerave I'm mostly talking about the edges of the wood. I'm simply no fan of that charred look, that's all. I prefer the natural colour of the wood and it's also easier to stain it, should you want to.
@@j.h.4570 so wait, you came to a video titled How to Make a Laser Cut Wood Lamp, knowing full well that laser's darken the edge of wood and thats the signature aesthetic of the method, and suggested that it be done a "better" way because you're not a fan of it?
@@phazerave yeah, seems contradictory, doesn't it? I can still get an inspiration from the shape and design of the lamp though, can't I? And "better" is quite often a point of view, nothing more or less. And I said "would", so it's merely an opinion put up for discussion, which we are just doing. So no harm done and I appreciate your thoughts on this matter. Who knows, maybe I'll rethink?
You can go to the woodglut website if you would like to do it yourself.
In my first work I always used Woodglut plans.
Can i get this ai file? plz
