    What are your thoughts on filming with Linear+ skiing/snowboarding as opposed to wide/super view?

    Awesome video, I leaned a lot, thank you for putting together this video!
    I have a question about locking the shutter speed, please. So, I understand that you lock yours at 1/120 (and don't like 1/50) because of your 60fps (and with the "x2" rule). Conversely, should I lock it at 1/48 if I use 24fps, or were you saying that 1/48 looks too slow regardless of any fps?
    Thanks for the clarification in advance.

      Yeah if you shoot at 24fps then lock the shutter at 1/48. All the talking head shots in this video were actually shot with those exact settings. It’s only for the POV and faster action stuff that I prefer the look of the faster shutter speeds. Hope that helps!

    Great vid, definitely gonna try these out next week. Do you recommend the max lens by any chance, I know you can’t put ND filters on them but they seem really good for pov and other angles?

      Yeah I’ve never used one, but I’d like to mess around with one some day. I’ve seen a lot of people have good success with it. They seem especially useful if you’re going to crop it down to a vertical frame for social as it packs so much more field of view into the frame.

    Hey thanks a lot for the tips I actually learned quite a bit from this for my Hero 10.
    Only question I have for you is how do you upload music to your videos without getting them muted or taken down do to copyright?

    • @LiamStevens
      @LiamStevens  2 роки тому +1

      Word I got you. I get a lot of my music from audio licensing sites like Artlist and Epidemic Sound. I pay a monthly fee to them, and all the music is pre-cleared for UA-cam. When I do use popular music, prior to editing to it, I upload a private video with the song to see if it will clear. 99% of the time UA-cam's Content ID System will recognize it, but still allow me to use the song. That said, I will never be able to monetize those videos, and the revenue from the ads that do run on those video's are paid to the copyright owners of the song. Hope that helps!

      @@LiamStevens Yeah it does help actually, Thanks. I figured much that you wouldn't be able to monetize it. I was also looking at subscribing to Artlist as I stubbled upon it as well. What are your thoughts on it, is it worth the monthly fee?
      Also going back to your shutter speed settings in your video. I followed all the settings you were using in this vid for some cycling footage the other day and when I changed the shutter speed to 1/120 at 4k 60fps, everything went completely white on the footage and was too bright, even when adjusting the white balance. When I brought the shutter speed back up or set it back to auto, it seemed to fix the image. However, I do want that effect of motion blur to show speed in the video.
      I'm wondering if this is an issue you had as well when snowboarding and if you just use the ND filters to compensate?

    • @LiamStevens
      @LiamStevens  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah I’ve been quite happy with Artlist. They have the simplest license in my eyes, and a good catalog of music. It’s been worth the money for me.
      Here’s a referral link you can use to get two free months on sign up (artlist.io/Liam-1458802)
      As far as the GoPro settings go, you will need ND filters if you’re slowing your shutter down to 1/120. The slower the shutter speed, the more light that hits the sensor, hence why it went fully white.

      @@LiamStevens gotcha man, much appreciated. I’ll have to try it with my nd filters next time I head out then, and thanks for the link I’ll check it out as soon as I get the chance. Thanks again man!
