Yes I need to try that myself now I watched it I'm going back home will catch me on or both feet and we'll try it but I prefer taking the bones out squashing the meat cooking with eggs and green onions that's what I was young but I'm getting older I still want to try it thank you and good luck
Stick um tail first into one big trash bag and scale um from tail to head inside the bag. Little bit awkward at first but most of the scales fly back down into the trash bag
If you're gonna fillet the fish to spoon the meat out, you don't need to scale the entire fish. You only need to scale the areas where you'll make your knife cuts. I scale my fish inside of a kitchen sized trash bag to prevent the scales from flying.
@@lisarichardson8060 Scaling under fresh water ruins the meat, especially oio. If you scale under water, it needs to be done at the beach in salt water.
Toothpaste method more bettah. Remove the head, remove the guts, then freeze. Unfreeze, and then use a rolling pin and you can just toothpaste out the meat only.
You need to scale it (at least the top and the bottom of the fish) or else it will be very difficult to fillet it. Bone fish have big scales. The scales are like armor, which makes it difficult for the knife to cut through when trying to fillet. Also, if you scale it before cutting it there is much less chance that scales will end up in your fishcake.
Best video on internet about this hands down.
Thanks uncle, recipe was BOMB
Had it in the freezer for a long time and didn’t know what to make.
Awesome video!
Very educational video for seasoned fisherman's to young upcoming fisherman's too!
Well done 👏
Sharp knife is absolutely key. That knife cuts like a scalpel!

1:20 You can fill the sink with water to prevent scales from flying off everywhere 🤷
awesome job! aloha for the video!

Hi Jon, if you want to not scales go all over, fill your sink with water and scale your fish under water. Try it.
Oio fish raw yummy 😊

I wish I saw this last light b4 I butchered my bone fish🤦♂️🤷♂️😆👍
Nice fillet job brada 👍
Scale towards u so the scales go down in the sink
Nice
Why are u scaling the fish if u are just scraping the meat off? Do u use the skin?
The scale will come off in the meat you can leave the scale but you will have to pick them out.
Also VERY hard to fillet with the scales on. The scales are very thick. Knife cannot slide through as easily with the scales on.
Scale it underwater in the sink & save your Saran Wrap! 😉
Exactly what I was about to say. No scale fly up under water.

Scale the fish under water then you don't have to worry about scales going everywhere.
Chef 🔥

if you make a video, I’d watch that!
Hiroshi's finest!
3 weeks later .. still trying to filet the fish haha
I really think you didn’t have to scale the fish since you don’t cook it with the skin.

She go 🤙
Wrong color cutting board
Bonefish is for sport fishing as fly fishing not for food…
