    At first I thought this was a 5 mile race lol, when they set off I was like " shit that's quick for 5 miles" but then I realised it was 1 mile ahah

      +Rhys Nichols These days, all the best 5 mile racers run the first 800m in 1:58 :)

      +Rhys Nichols My Kenyan friend says that while a 13 mile uphill tempo run can be challenging, the good news is that you only have to do one interval.

    the road mile is a beautiful race. You wont see 5 across on the track unless the pace is 5:00. And the camera truck can drive alongside the whole way, which allows a good closeup view of the action. There is a saying in middle distance and long distance running that you have to be relaxed to be fast. Most of these guys look so smooth even when the pain must be tremendous.

    • @rallymaniac92
      @rallymaniac92 4 роки тому

      That's the thing, being "relaxed" is what helps you get into a rhythm and transform every stride into forward motion, but it doesn't take long to start hurting. Then it's a battle to keep your form from breaking down. It gets so mental.

      +John Nicolo Most people can't sprint as fast as elite athletes run in a marathon... so don't worry.

      gonzayare That isn't really true. They run 17-18 seconds per 100 meters. This is a speed, which most young people are capable to run. But only few would stay with them for 1 or 2 kilometer.

    so there really was a bonus for a US runner to be 1st at 800 ?....maybe that's why it seemed that somewhere in the middle of the race 2 dudes began sprinting and then seemed to just stop and the pack caught them. I know the guy running the camera kept saying "little faster" and then it seemed like the runners went faster each time.

    • @MSeanM
      @MSeanM 10 років тому +3

      I think that was the cameraman talking to the driver of the bike. He said it again at the end when they pushed for the finish and were overtaking the bike.

    • @matthewcorcoran9307
      @matthewcorcoran9307 10 років тому +5

      It does seem they sprinted suddenly to a spot roughly halfway that wasn't the finish line

    Can anyone answer this question? : Why do the runners look like they are moon-walking on the moving thumbnails? This is true for all moving thumbnails showing fast runners.
