Amazing video! I knew most of this already, but it helped reinforce my workflow and I also learned a couple of small things too. If I was a beginner again I would see this video as the perfect frame of reference for how to do things. Keep it up!
Bro, I swear, if I had money, I’d Fu***g donate a lot to you, haha, because you honestly have no idea how much this video has helped me understand things I didn’t get before or just didn’t care about, thinking they wouldn’t make much of a difference in my project. I really appreciate your effort, because people like you who make 3D modeling culture grow more and more, even for those who are just learning 3D for fun or as a hobby. I can guarantee that if you keep making these kinds of videos (tips for your students) on how to optimize or do things the right way, you’ll build a legacy in the 3D world, because no one has done it with the level of detail you have. Huge respect, SENSE👺
Another tip would be to use one texture for multiple props that the player will find in a close proximity to each other, each material in game engines is another draw call : )
Good video. I enjoyed it. But at 12:46 - 13:13 that is a BAD WAY to do UVs. Always scale up your UV shell so that more squares are visible. Because smaller squares (not smaller in the UV rainbow texture but tiled more!), allow you to identify where deformations happen. Because with a single large square you may not (correctly) notice where the curvature in the square happens (since it's all BLURRY), but with a smaller row of squares you'll immediately see the pattern bending or stretching.
Thank you for this video! It will be helpful if you do more props like this and also give us technical knowledge of things like UDIM, Texal Density and more advanced baking and thanks for this video really loved it thank you!!! ❤😀
can you make a specific topic about "when we should and shouldn't use Ngon/triangle" if you already talk about it let me know, it's a fascinating topic, thankyou.
Hey Ab, can you show how to do the welding in substance painter ? I saw some videos of people doing stiches with texture and normal maps in painter, can we do the same with weldings ?
Wow this was brilliant Thank you very much Question would you texture an envioronmwnt on Substabce ? An if not where would you texture extra large assets?
Amazing video sirr!! I have a question let's say you follow everything you mentioned in the but what if Benjamin wants to the old textures he did is it possible like is there way to use old textures on your optimised model
some good points, but a more in depth explaination on a lot of things would be good in my opinion. theres also some aspects missing. and i think it would be good to do a fully optimized asset for the video, and not just straighten "some" edges, reduce some etc. maybe even with a clear target in mind. portfolio, first person, third etc.

Marmoset video baking and some texturing..
Yes we need tutorial like this even if I know to model and texture it😅
Thanks! Now I wonder where I should look for that "standarts" of how far I can push optimisation coz I suppose not allways less tris is better.

Where do we get the plugin for bonus tools for the every other edge selection?
In maya 2025 it should be default. On previous version you can download them directly from Autodesk just Google maya bonus tools
I would love to see you more in Blender.
only if we could get clean bakes T_T
What happened brother I thought you would do the bolt rifle from warhammer
