Be very careful lipping them. I caught one on Zara Spook below Truman dam during a topwater feeding frenzy. Was trying to grab it quick so that I could fish the frenzy again be for they stopped. Lipped it and it shook so hard the the treble hook that hooked the fish was also at that point now in my thumb deep barb not exposed. Didn't know how I was going to get out of that situation to get the fish off and my thumb off the same treble hook, because I did not want to let go of the fish. Split second later it shook again and it ripped it back out my thumb. Was bleeding pretty bad. So I just taped it up and kept fishing. Only good thing about it was the fish was 11 lbs. Also the gill plate will easily cut you bad as well. When they shake it is best to keep a very firm grip and hands away from gill plate also.
Great video and keep at it.
Some time try an umbrella rig with 6" sassy shads w/ 1/2 - 2/4 oz heads roadrunner heads. My umbrella rig was 4 arm center weighted and each arm was about 9", so an 18" spread. Just keep in mind the only 3 hooks rule in the state regs. At the time I started fishing the rigs the regulation was not in place so I still have today a bunch of the 4 arm rigs. But you could also just use 3 arm instead. On my rigs the center and one arm I use a lighter 1/2 oz jig head with hook clipped off. While the other 3 arms had the 3/4 oz jig heads with hooks. I make the 2 without hooks on a shorter line than the ones with hooks. You could put blades on the non-hook arms in place of actual hookless jigs. This allowed the rig to be weight heavy with the 3 arms with hooks. Allowing them to run at the bottom while the no hook heads ran at top. I was trying to force them to bite the ones with hooks by placing them better for the hybrids to see and bite. It was much easier to do when there was no 3 hook rule many many years ago. I would just troll them over the humps and ledges. I used a Cabela's Depth Master II reel w/ line counter on it so that I can try to keep them the same distance/depth and slow trolling speed once I found what depth they were at. I would troll two rods, one on each side off the back of the boat. Used heavy line 30 lb on reel and lighter on baits from umbrella rig to keep from losing the umbrella rig. It was not uncommon to catch 8 lb+ doing that and multiples on one rig. That is the reason for such heavy line. Might have been overkill but I never lost a rig and it worked for me. It probably could be improved upon.

That's Awsome! I just started hunting hybrids on truman as well. What was your technic? Were you just spot locked on a point or hump? Or you marked some fish and spot locked?

Spot lock when I get over them. Slow troll when they are scattered.

@@MikeBakerVideos can you make a video showing us what your looking for on side imaging or 2d sonar? My biggest problem is figuring out what's hybrid and what's carp lol.
