It's crazy how time flies, to see you have a daughter and a mustache nowadays, the increase in video quality and just seeing you still making videos makes me happy. Keep fishing, never stop.

Jon, I’ve watched you for a long long time. My best friend loved your videos and loved the way you fished so much he did it himself. Every bait was googan, every saying when he hooked up was a Jon b saying. We fished every weekend and what felt like everyday. Tragically he passed away in 2021 along with our other friend. I stoped fishing for a long time, I also stoped watching for a long time. Every time I watched I cried every time I got my stuff together and got to the lake a cried and couldn’t do it. Now it’s 2024 and I finally decided to pick up my rods again and fish all the time and I never felt closer to my friend since he’s been gone. I wanna thank you for helping me get through the worst time of my life even though you only are making videos it helped. Many nights I had your videos on my tv or phone bcuz I couldn’t fall asleep or sit in silence and think about my friends. Thanks Jon, I hope you see this and realize how much you helped me!

I use to fish below the dam all the time to the first major bend after the bridge. There is so much good fishing in there. Striper on the fly rod was always fun!

Took this trip dozens of times starting in the mid 80's. Beautiful stretch of the Brazos. Make sure you read "Goodbye to a River" by John Graves. The man responsible for bringing attention to this river and stopping the building of a series of dams along the river.
Never saw a single rattlesnake [ even though they are around] but found many a copperhead around the nightly campsite.

Something I do Jon when I was using a paddle bass fishing was separate that paddle and just use the one hand method to steer you around, works great! Keep up the good work!

FINALLY I live in Richmond/Rosenberg TEXAS, about a mile from the brazos River, been fishing it my entire life. Last year I caught a7ft 2in gator gar, have caught many 50lbs + blue cats, ect. The MAIN THING TO KNOW FOR ANYONE is( atleast down here) the current is crazy it has a reverse current meaning at times deep water goes one way and the surface goes the opposite, let alone the millions of trees folks can get wrapped up in it's weird. I've known 1 person and heard of 5 ppl pass away from going in the river and not knowing it's dangers. Only kinda good things about the many floors we've had the r river for about 30 ft wider from erosion making it only about 30ft out here not 55ft no more. Down here it's waaaay more muddy than up where you are but even only living about 45-1 hr from the Trinity I've always liked the brazos better

the Brazos river was the last river float i did with my dad before he passed. same float, starting at the dam. brings back a lot of good memories seeing this over again.

My favorite river! Don't several trips on this but only the first 30 miles. We usually do the first 20 miles and go 3 days 2 nights. Amazing trip

This is my home stretch of river! So cool seeing you fish it! Flow is good but I like fishing it around 125 cfs so the fish pool up a little better. I fish all over and this is still my favorite part. I love fly fishing it with a mouse!

I paused this video to go fishing at my honey hole and caught 5 largies on my first 6 casts. Perfect weather conditions because a big thunderstorm was rolling in.

I’m a native Texan living in the central Texas region. In addition to all the things mentioned by Jon at the start of the video to look out for in the Brazos, we now have alligators around the Waco Texas stretch of the Brazos. Fishermen beware!
If you do go to australia again i do strongly encourage you to do this while fishing for species like bass, trout and murry cod, the feeling of catching a almost metre long cod in a small river while in a kayake is crazy

I have made the float many times. If someone wants to do it it is all about the flow of the river It needs to be 2 to 3 for the float. Fishing is very good for bass on plastic worms and smaller spoons and top water. Be sure and pack your trash out and get a river report on releases before leaving. You will find many gravel bars to camp on.

Hey Jon, I don't know if you knew this or not but the sane genus that Largemouth, Smallmouth, and Spotted Bass are in (Micropterus) includes 11 other species! Alabama Bass, Bartram's Bass, Cahaba Bass, Chattahoochee Bass, Guadalupe Bass, Pearl River Bass, Redeye Bass, Shoal Bass ,Suwannee Bass, Tallapoosa Bass, and Warrior Bass. I was letting you know because of all content creators I could see you enjoying chasing these unknown, beautiful, native bass the most in their native habitats. I think you could make an amazing video series about chasing these other species also
