18:09 "Captain, we have backup in the south. Alright, we'll be heading east." 😆
Can't let those south grunts take credit when we did all the work.
New goal in life: hearing Harstem saying that he's proud of me.
Start with your dad being proud of you. Then harstem. 😂🤣
My losses are too boring for IODIS.
I want Harstem to be like "holy crap this guy has good eco, nice"
How is that the new goal? For it always has been the goal
7:53 I never thought Harstem would speak this positively of someone more than 5 minutes into a game
17:10 I love how the Swarm Host is walking with the rest like someone who sneaked into a party and doesn't really belong to the group
The 1 random sh is such a classic for zergs xd
17:17 though, looooooooooool
27:27 zerg asserts dominance by farting on his opponent's SCVs
omg, I'm dying!!!
I also thought it was probably Bm, until Harstem said he may have misclicked fungal.
Zerg equivalent of "manner mule"
because of this comment now, everytime im goig to see a microbial shroud ill be thinking of infestors farting on units XD
10:10 He claimed until the banshees, which was the case, you were impressed.
Well he claimed until he lost the banshees, he was definitely fucking up while the banshees were alive. However there is no getting around the fact that he had really good build execution for a diamond player.
@@Junebug89 Despite his not that good play, I still think he can barely fit into the low gm league
@@Pilligrim-gd3oehe can definitely get into master, his macro was way better than the master zerg, the zerg played that game terribly but the terran kept giving him opportunities to win.
My favourite part: 29:42 - "These guys are never going to leave, are they?". And they never did...
Nicely done Harstem (and hamster^^).
Thankfully I sent you a lost game to not completely break IODIS series as it would have been irresponsible from my part. Keep it up ! 😜🥖
Hey Napolitain! Great game man!
Now I would like to make you aware of something in this video that I think is a bit unfair.
If you check the exchange at 11:13 and the Trade info at 11:25 didn't the Zerg lose way more than just 3 Banelings there? I mean I think you targeted down 3 Banelings but a Baneling that attacks is always a lost Baneling though and should definitely be part of the trade. That is a pretty decently sized mistake from Hamster's part, wouldn't you agree?
that was a good game man if you nail the early harrass aspect a bit better you're gonna cause zergs at your current level a big headache
great game, the early game is truly amazing
I think Napolitain is right. I've been playing Terran all my life and it does seem hard. Also just pretty boring. It takes your whole life just to afford to buy a house.
@@ingainloggningsnamn 6 banelings in total. so that's an extra resource loss on Zerg
30:19 when the "DO NOT FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS" pops up from hamster, absolutely hilarious :D
That is when I felt I had to try it!
Hamster with the great edits on this one
The third bar with Clem on it was really neat to see
and
THE TANKS NEVER LEFT THE MAIN
Fr, Hamster is really underated. Harstem is really lucky to have him
Harstem killing it out here with the top tier content, simultaneously applauding the entrant while also giving good advice on where to improve, so wholesome and well done, the GOAT of sc2 content creators!
i absolutely love harstem's commentary in this: "uh yes sir we have backup in the south" "well then we'll head east"
favorite part was 14:50
24:16 I have no words... I legit was dying.
18:10 - i.e. the "Captain we have backup in the south. Alright, we'll be heading east" is my favourite bit.
Masters level build order execution silver level micro. Loved to see TvZ Captain. 18:05 is classic
24:30 had me rolling. Incredible game and really neat editing to add Clem as a third player. Awesome to see hamster and harstem continue to innovate the format!
After watching enough of these videos, I have finally re-installed and am back on the ladder. Thanks Harstem.
Still out there? I also recently started taking ladder more seriously (discovered the game 2 years ago but only watched pro cuz ladder was so hard)
You know for awhile I thought Iodis was going to kill Harstem with sheer disappointment. You can actually see the downward trajectory. But we've been watching higher level replays lately and it looks like the Captain is having a good time again.
This terran did a good job of learning that build order, but it looks like he didn't know what to do with it.
He was too busy trying to macro then use his units which defeated the whole point of the build order
Seems like a young player who knows how to improve and has the skills, just growth in understanding the game will lead him/her to GM. Time and attention.
E.g. I am Plat 1 Terran, tried this build - nope. It's too difficult for me even without microing units and without micro it doesn't make any sense. It's tough, he did good job but ultimately fails at the same spot, multitasking.
Thats how most diamond/plat are like. Good at macroing or microing but suck at the other.
I have seen someone play like a high gm before at 3k. How are they at 3k then you might ask? Because they down a 100 supply at the 10 minute mark from such a terrible early game. Yet the instant late game/midgame starts they have multiple armies with all the spellcasters in both sets and juggling units
Oh yeah wanna add. Even spent his money macroing(though not like there is much to spend)
That build order is really difficult to execute, microorganisms the banshee and hellion while keeping up the macro is the main reason I don’t suggest these kind of builds. He’s be better off with a 3 base opener
"and on top of microing they're also spending their money"
Zest - bold of you to think so
makes 20 gateways, micros stalkers, doesnt macro, warps in
Look mah im playin like zest!!
@@Willdroyd More looks like a Parting's gameplay to be fair
27:24 The BM shroud on SCVs was both necessary to winning the game and incredibly funny.
+
Every time a new one of these videos come out I think we had reached the peak before then but Hamster always seems to set the bar higher every time.
This is really cool.
14:45 Poor mine-san just wanted to get picked up by medivac senpai D:
11:05 was my favorite moment. Move command with a siege tank straight into ling/bane
14:27 the "classic" single swarm host. i changed the SH key to something my fingers can't reach just so i stop making that classic in my own games
That's Ricky the swarmhost!
@@tahmidt
Ricky popped up in my ZvT unexpectedly. I decided not to cancel, he's a chill dude.
Hey I know this is meant to be a funny video series sorta thing, but I actually learnt a lot for my own TvZ matchup. Also around the same MMR as mr. Napolitain. This is great 😂😂
30:20 - I love Hamster editing and warning us! xD
"its difficult to think" is a sentence that describes terran players really well
As a terran player, I struggle with this every day.
I thought that was the Toss slogan
I thought that was the cannon rusher motto.
I thought thats the case for every player below 7k
Let's be real here, considering the average rank, the majority of starcraft players (including myself) can't think very well.
21:05 Is my favorite part since we finally got to see what happened to the command center that was being build.
15:20 Always warms my heart to see a Planetary and when i saw this i just knew.
This is my favorite episode. Awesome to see a direct comparison of this game vs. a top tier pro game. Great way to see a mistake and how to improve timings/unit control. Hamster's graphics are sick
18:03 definitely was the best moment In my opinion
16:26 loved Harstem's reaction
16:12 At this point it remembers me of the cinematic of Lords of War of Grommash with the voice of Maraad saying "Once again he enters deep into Zerg territory"
18:05 when he runs away from his mines xD
16:38-17:02 Besides great advice for Napolian I could not imagine any way the Z would be able to win being behind 63 supply and losing the hatch.
"drop him captain, he smells" made me laugh so hard I woke up my roommate, thank you
18:54 Harstem said "pyramid" one hand at the bottom one on top and one eye brow extended to the max GG
My favorite moment definitely was 18:08 . Also I liked 16:33 and 27:26. Greetings cap (and to your editor).
I actually think the main problem in this game was move commanding the army when it was in lots of little chunks spread around the place. So I guess you could also say the problem was not getting the army grouped up fast enough. But it seemed like T only realised the need to get the army together when a fight had already started, and at that point issued an F2 move command to try to consolidate. No need for crazy micro, just get that one aspect sorted and I'm pretty sure T would be masters.
I also don't think they sieged a single tank all game despite clearly seeming like they wanted to move onto creep to bait units into the line of fire from them.
That mine at 15:15 had no ticket, and was thrown out. Ref: Indiana Jones the 3rd movie inside the Zeppelin.
18:29 "Sir we heard theres landmines in the south, alright guys we wont be going there no more"
24:18 and a traitor joke is gold
11:25 The Zerg definitely lost more than just 3 Banelings in that exchange.
I count 6 dead Banelings, but I'm not 100% sure.
yeah I think he looked at a different exchange and edited it in or something. There were no mines built at that moment in time, a tank died instead of the 2 mines displayed.
Happens to the best (the best also being known as hamster)
I dont think he counted the ones that exploded on their own, just the ones whoch were killed before they got in contact
19:30 You should make one of these the next time someone sends in a protoss/zerg replay.
14:58
Dropping the smelly Widow mine then proceeding to pick up all the other mines! =D
18:38 I love Hamster. Harstem: "Widow Mines don't have friendly fire". Hamster repeating Harstem's statement with a clip with friendly fire.
30:10 the mid game quiz: when the editor warns to not follow the instructions. I realized that if you do it on pc you rewind the whole video, and imagined if someone could be dumb enough to really press 😆😆😆
I voted for 1 and watched the video again
15:00 as an avid mine dropper I think what happened here is he started loading mines, realized he forgot to assign control group, dropped and loaded all the rest that were successfully assigned to the new group and forgot to add the one that was in the medivac when the group was created. Relatable
I’m liking your videos very much these days... you are now my favourite Starcraft to watch.
24:24 the silent dumb founded triple take before “Are these traitors?”
I'm happy to see the declinced stamp is back
18:35 had me cracking up. Hamster should have slowed down the repeat of the sentence, though, it was a bit confusing on the first watch.
IODIS always the highlight of SC2 week. Thanks to both of you guys.
7:01 surprised Pikachu face!
your editor deserves a bonus after putting the Clem bar at the bottom. I lost my shit
I'm starting to think its not Harstem's channel its Hamster's channel :D
good job with editing!
19:09 quick psych class on the fly👌
Without watching the rest of the game, pretty impressive that he was basically aligned with Clem 4 minutes in.
Great video! I learned a lot. However I wonder if you commented from the zergs perspective if you would have drawn the same conclusion. It looks like the Zerg had similar, if not worse, engagement prep, micro, and myopic strategy. But Zerg won nonetheless. I’m a diamond Zerg trying to learn all races, and it’s been a challenge raising my Terran above gold. It does seem like Zerg has such an easier time recovering from bad fights and engaging. As Zerg I don’t need to follow strict build orders but can just scout and react to opponents , I don’t need to micro. I can a-move Ling runbys, but try a-moving marine and tank drops and they die. During engagements There’s just so much more that a Terran has to do: splitting, dropping, stim, siege up or burrow, etc while dropping mules and placing and constructing buildings, whereas Zerg I can just a-move and box units and macro is a simpler matter of queen injects and only have to build a building once. Expansion is just a hatchery vs build a CC and then convert to PF or orbital. Just a matter of a few more clicks but it scales not much more micromanaging that a T must do. At least In the lower leagues I do think T is much harder and Imba.
The zerg used all his units, and fought on creep with full vision.
The terran sent half of his army, and half of that weren't used at all (unsieged tanks, widow mines nowhere, liberators on siege), marines running into banelings, and engaging on creep.
I like how you pretend to be a zerg main downplaying how hard zerg is and how easy terran is, though. The fact that you talk like building an orbital is harder than queen inject is utterly hilarious. And lol just a-moving as zerg. Clearly, you've never actually played.
The fact that this terran thinks that he should be able to beat speed banelings on creep with pure marines and half his army shows just how OP terran armies are.
@@NestedQuantifier I guess different aspects of each race comes more naturally for different people. Zerg does play more easily for me than Terran, but I accept it's the other way around for you and others... it's all good. I've lost countless engagements when i'm trying to double or triple prong my attack, but botch my timings with separate drop, stim, seige the tanks, seige the libs, spread, pickup, retreat each army at the same time. A few mistimings, and suddenly all my peeps are gone. zerg, at least the styles I play (ling/bane/muta, ling/bing/hydra, roach/hyra, etc.) require a few less microclicks (click in, spread, kite, click out)
In response to your comment about orbital vs queen injects being hilarious, i would compare queen injects to orbital-dropping mules. both are necessary to keep up on macro economy. however, whereas queen injects can be queued, mule drops require more precise timing. i tend to fall behind in that aspect. But hey, cheers to you if terran's easier for you. obviously we all have stuff to improve otherwise we'd all be GMs. so i accept diff races may be easier to diff folks.
I love the quiz and the warning that comes with it, it would've been an excellent opportunity for a massive troll but it turns out Harstem has massive respect for the viewers.
This was so educational. Thanks for the good work.
My favourite part was at 30:07; "Do not follow these instructions" Looool, you actually tested that after thinking about it, don't you? And then the "i" at the end to clear up that the tanks never got out is gold xd.
BTW: It'd have been so much funnier if you said "fantastic" and adding the "suck" mark just when you said "boom" at the end, that'd have been hilarious.
Oh, and on the tanks, I have seen UpATree leave 7 Thors in his base, wondering why they weren't with him army, only to promptly lose the army, GG, and watch the replay to find the Thors stuck in his natural.
14:47 where he leaves one widow mine behind ”drop him captain, he smells”. 💀💀💀
Honorable mentions:
18:35 ”like widowmines don’t have friendly fire” good job hamster
16:31 & 17:16 *leaves 80% of his army to defend his natural🔥🔥🔥
34:35 my favorite moment is having this task sprung on me after I've already watched the video
14:50 I spit out my spaghett when Harstem noticed him load the stinky mine and immediately drop it and pick up the other three
29:30 with the tanks being stuck was one of my favorite parts of this IODIS
29:05 This was purposefully done by the Terran High Command to hide the corruption done in the early game
Maslow would have been proud of you. Nice analysis.
27:27 "zergs must unbind microbial shroud, so they dont lose energy by accident " - zerg pros in 2020
wow harstem, your videos about terran are on a new level. for a terran player like me, awesome! i mean, i started the video and i am overwhelmed on 2:42 yet :). thank you for your content!
It's always funny to read the "declinced" stamp haha ))
I feel like Zerg has gone back to monke. They have realized that there's still so much strategy to be had with just ling/bane.
24:16 best moment
I find nice that Zerg is so active with the infestor. Would be interesting what top zerg say to early infestor.
Those tips are awesome, and the analysis as well, your quality is getting better by my eyes Harstem&Hamster!
the one mine that stunk and was not allowed in the medivac was funny, also the first planetary...the surprise on harstems face was priceless, also the cheers for a EMP...emp...emp? was lol....great episode, like and comment for the algorithm
Fav part: 24:12
Zoom on your face
Emotions that speak louder than any voice
Quiet moment to appreciate above
11:08 (grandmaster walking on creep)
14:50 best one :)
Haha die laatste zin doet me denken aan Frank Visser doet uitspraak
I have almost died of heart attack at 20:22
18:09 best part by far, couldn't stop laughing. xD
2:48, Napolitain gets to 16 supply before Clem
Case closed, he's a fucking god
hell yeah
At 24:21, the captains face says it all lol
20:40 The propaganda speech about Widow Mines being better than High Templar really killed me. Definitely my favorite part.
Just goes to show, with a solid and long pre-planned build, you can go far. Up to the banshi play, it was tight.
24:16 I thought my speaker went out in the middle of the cast and I was so confused. I brought my volume all the way up, and checked my speaker setting, just to find out Harstem was lost in the lost Medivecs.
18:36 favorite moment
Great job Harstem and Hamster, really enjoyed this episode.
29:20 : efficient gameplay, all part of the strategizing, tanks: press 2.
For a second I read "flight preparation" I though those 3 medivacs will have their own hall of fame.
That widow mine drop when harstem said he smells just hit me different I laughed so hard
omgggg the Clem stats at the bottom genius
HAHAHHAHA MY TEAMMATE!!! I LOVE THIS GUY
What an amazing analysis and explanation by Harstem.
Dear Harstem,
i really like your analogies, but the one at 13:55 about landmines is a bit funny because i have to imagine you standing on the battlefield (of course with your captains beret on) holding a machine gun and firing thousands of shells randomly into the ground in front of you hoping to hit some hidden mines :-)
The spinach and beans comment was the final straw... I have now subscribed, legend, love this channel !
Can we get Hamster a raise for the killer edits?! Made the video so enjoyable.
14:50 Napolitain likes this mine and dont want it lost in suicide mission.
18:12 That was a really good joke Harstem 😛
