Great review! I love this bag using it as a work bag for laptop, tablet and work folders as I have a hybrid work office/ home office job commute on train and bus. Using top compartment gor work ID and office keys and side for water bottles, and umbrella holder. Also fits my lunch bag in main compartment.
I’m surprised it doesn’t have a more rigid back. That lack of back support kinda kills it for me.
Looks like they changed the back a bit. Wonder if it holds the shape better now. The older design is very uncomfortable when you do not have it fully packed or carrying a laptop, it just folds outside in the middle forming some kind of an arck and this empty space just kills my back...
Just got it will be using for work purposes, used a timbuk 2 roll top but I feel this is a upgrade in terms of space and pocket
Hated the lack of organization for small stuff
The interior pocket is for a passport and house keys, so they don’t get stolen.
Great review! I'd love to get your take on the Patagonia Cragsmith 32L
I really wanted to like this bag. I couldn't get behind the black hole material. other than that the bag is great
Perfect bag, the shiny material kills it for me though. If they ever come out with the black hole made with a different material I’ll buy it.
Seems similar in many ways to the Able Carry Daybreaker, could be an interesting comparison (though not sure if you've reviewed that bag).
This one has water bottle holder though
@@tagekarlsson4536 so does the daybreaker (just one)
Pata-go-yeah!
anyone used this backpack for travel? Is it possible to carry under the plane seat? Thank you
I did. It fits nice under the seat.
Does it not fold up to pack in a suitcase? So it is just a small square.
Can out fit it under an airplane seat? If you can, is it too long and is there room for your feet?
Does the front outide pocket has double zipper ?
Great review - cheers !
Glad you enjoyed it!
Prefer osprey syncro
This bag is honestly kind of a dud, there aren't enough compartments, the shape turns into a round cylinder when full, even half full. So you feel this round shape on your back when it has clothes in it. It basically doesn't have enough structure so it always feels "stuffed". it doesn't expand properly so everything eats into each other's space, the outer pocket eats into the inner space, the laptop pocket the same. the only thing i like is the top pouch and the side pockets become handy due to lack of compartments inside. Laptop sleeves should be their own compartment like the old Gravis bags.
Great review!!
It’s weird that it has a water resistant outer shell but the straps and back pad are absorbent. Sees gimmicky
Do the 32L!!
Simple and effective bag, right?
Hey are you still testing this backpack? I read some comments from 2019 in my local Patagonia store and saying that this backpack was really sweaty and that even the logo would come off
Hey Francisco! We haven't used it since our initial 2-week test. We'll adjust the usage timeline on our written review if we start using it again. Thanks for the comment!

What’s the exact model of that f-Stop bag? I have this pack and I really love it, but I want to carry my camera gear more effectively, this seems like a good enough solution.
Hey, this is the F-Stop Small Shallow ICU: packhacker.com/travel-gear/f-stop/small-shallow-icu-internal-camera-unit/

@@PackHacker2 thank you! 🙂
@@PackHacker2 how can I make it not shiny?I have the mini mlc black in color....btw long time fan and viewer
How does this fair in the rain?
Hey Rob! The materials offer solid weather protection. The bag is capable of holding up well in the rain but it's best not to keep it exposed for too long, especially if you are carrying electronics since it is not fully waterproof. Thanks for the comment!

@@PackHacker2 Thanks. Shame they didn’t just place a waterproof line inside, I wouldn’t have minded paying more as it’s nice, big and functional.
not a great bag, I aquired one for free from one of my urban dwelling mates, I was under the impression at first glance that it was a proper outdoor pack, it has the haul bag material, daisy chains and side pockets to give you the illusion it's good for outdoor use. it really isn't, after a days multipitch rock climbing in Wales with it it was clear it was a fashion-office bag.
They missed the boat by not providing a hip belt with this bag, its big enough to warrant one as when full of weekend away or climbing gear can weigh easily 10kg.
With this much weight you end up with really bad shoulder and back ache.
6/10
I didn't get the feeling that it was an outdoor bag. Patagonia does have hiking bags
honestly this seems more like your mistake of having odd expectations of this bag. It is 100% a fashion office bag. Outdoor bags are quite different as you probably know seeing as you mentioned hip pockets.
