A great exercise to help build the skill of bracing, seperating that brace from breathing and also to help re-build basic strength endurance in the the neck

It is done correctly!
Cue points:
1: Brace - stab your fingers into your sides around 5-6 inches away from your belly-button, fight your fingers with your brace.
2. Small movement off of the floor.
3. 3 deep, relaxed breaths while maintaining a solid, consistent brace.
There are variations on this exercise, but this is the version I use the most.
Does it work for everybody? Absolutely not, BUT proper testing and assessment will let you know which tools to use and when.

I have DDD and facet hypertrophy. I have tried McGill big three and always bothered me. But this video has the best explanation.
