    I first saw Charles at an event in New Hampshire, USA about 12 years ago called Bass Solo Fun. It was a competition for bass players of all types of music to compose a solo and perform it. Charles had his LeFay bass with the leavers and he just blew everyone away, and today he still blows everyone away. Masterful as usual, Charles!

      @@Slone Yes it's an inside joke so to speak. Some Bass Players jokingly refuse to acknowledge that the Guitar came first, and by denouncing the word Guitar they pretend to delete it's very existence . "It's not a Bass Guitar, it's a Bass" and "that's not a Guitar, it's a Piccolo Bass". It's a silly thing Bassists do to distract from their inferiority complex. 🙃JK ✌

    • @Slone
      @Slone Місяць тому +2

      @@DarylBark Thanks for spelling it out for me. It makes sense now :D. I think It's my first encounter with that joke, although I have been playing with a few bass players over the years. But I suppose it's either too recent or maybe it's some sort of a colloquial joke in that it's specific to english speaking bass players.

    • @DarylBark
      @DarylBark Місяць тому +1

      @@Slone Bass Players have been treated a bit like the "red headed step child" in some circles so it is their way of flipping the script. Banjo Players in the Blue Grass Scene have it far worse though. I'm pasting a few examples for a laugh.
      How can you tell if the stage is level? The banjo player is drooling out of both sides of their mouth.
      Define perfect pitch: "Throwing an accordion out the window and hitting a banjo"
      What do you say to a banjo player wearing a suit? "Will the defendant please rise."
      Banjo players spend half the time tuning and the other half playing out of tune.
      A group of banjo players were kidnapped from a workshop. The kidnappers said that unless their demands were met, they would release one each day.
      I'm just an old Musician, I've seen and heard it all. Peace

    INCREDIBLE showcase of 6 string piccolo basses. I personally prefer the sound of the standard bass, but it's about time that this niche instrument gets some love. And there's so many incredible bassists on it too, like Prince and Tom Morello and Jimmy Page, and we can't forget about Jimmy Hendricks. Glad they're finally getting the recognition they deserve. Always overshadowed by standard bassists like Guy Berryman and Michael Anthony.

      A piccolo bass is either an electric bass or acoustic double bass which has been tuned to a higher frequency, usually one octave higher than conventional bass tuning. This allows bass players to use higher registers during soloing while retaining a familiar scale length and string spacing.

    Jokes aside, it’s crazy to watch you play with these instruments. I especially like the ragtime feel of the second one with the riff you played on it.

    I've been playing guitar for over 20 years. Every time you upload all I can say to myself is "I picked the wrong instrument"
