    I am a guy in my 50s who left the army after a combat injury. I wanted to start exercising again but I could no longer do weights so I thought I’d try Pilates. I found your channel 5 years ago and it was a life saver. I just wanted to express my deep gratitude to you and wish you all the very best with your recovery. Sending love and positive energy your way.

      Unfortunately, the breast cancer is caused by viruses which means exercise and healthy eating might not be enough. We need to get rid of viruses to heal our bodies.🍀🩷✨

      I actually don't take BHRT. I have a recent podcast where I talk about how sometimes things just happen by no fault of our own. That is life. It was caught by my regular mammogram and I'm thankful for that.

    The fog and not yourself was a huge issue for me! I finally went for acupuncture and it worked after only 3 sessions! I recall telling my oncologist I just want to feel like myself again! Finally I did after acupuncture treatments! I had early stage ER/PR+ Her2- my oncatype was 13, so no chemotherapy, lumpectomy and 3 lymph nodes removed - I saw an osteopath for arm issues, 15 radiation treatments which ended Feb 2023! I’ve been on Anastrozole for one year with minimal manageable side effects! Every day is a gift! I am cancer free and hope I remain that way and don’t have to go through this again! Mine was not felt, no lump, the size of the tip of my baby finger, Stage 1 and was picked up on a mammogram! It really seems like ages ago and a bad dream! Good luck to you! You’ll be back to normal before you know it!

    Thank you, Jessica, for your candor, encouragement and your updates. 💗I was diagnosed with triple neg, grade 3, stage 3B breast cancer at the end of December; I could not have been more surprised, as there is no family history of cancer of the breast. My treatment plan has been a two-phase, pre-surgical chemo regimen (TC/AC+ immunotherapy) followed by surgery in early summer. It's not clear whether I'll have a lumpectomy or mastectomy; I see a breast surgeon at UCDavis Med Center in early May and will learn more then. My oncologist is very pleased with the tumor's response to chemo, so I'll keep "plugging along" until then. I know that our treatment plans are different but what was comforting to hear was your description of "the up's and down's" of today. I keep telling friends and family that on my good days I am "chemo normal". I suspect that is much like your "post-surgical normal". I am so lucky that there are many wonderful resources in my community, including a free pilates class led by a PT who is a cancer survivor with special certifications in helping breast cancer patients. (I hadn't heard about "cording" (so many things we never knew we needed to know, right?) but as I have some lymph involvement I may need her services.) Love and light to you as you continue to put this experience in your rear-view mirror.

    Thank you for sharing your experiences! It’s a service to so many of us going through similar things. I also had a bilateral mastectomy 12 weeks ago for early-stage cancer detected on my first-ever mammogram (no signs or symptoms). I have tissue expanders that I will be trading for implants in May. I was also fit and very active (yoga teacher), and it has definitely been a learning experience trying to get used to my new body. I was initially overconfident about my ability to bounce back and did too much too soon (handstands at week 8), and after encountering a setback (pain/inflammation), I’ve had to ease up and focus on rebuilding more slowly. I also got axillary cording on the cancer side (at 3 weeks) and am seeing an oncology OT, which has been helpful. It has mostly resolved, but still comes and goes a bit. I find stretching and massage both make a big difference). Recently I’ve started exploring brief hangs from monkey bars to help stretch, and that seems to help too).
    Wishing you all the best going forward as you process these changes both physically and emotionally and get back to doing the things you enjoy. Again, thank you for sharing your story - it is really helpful to hear others’ experiences.

    Hi Jessica,
    I visited your channel intending to find some exercises, but I noticed the post was quite different. I wanted to share my experience, which we seem to have in common.
    I underwent a unilateral mastectomy with reconstruction four years ago, followed by another surgery to align both breasts.
    It's important to mention that I've managed to return to my daily activities, whether familial or sporting, despite the challenges. However, I've faced certain consequences of the surgery such as loss of sensation in the upper arm and lymph accumulation below the shoulder, which I still experience today.
    I started exercising relatively soon after the operation, following recommended exercises. After six months, I resumed regular workouts, initially approaching exercises involving heavier weights for the arms with caution. I gradually introduced them, and now I can train 3-4 times a week without any limitations.
    I wanted to send you support and a big hug, and I wish you a speedy recovery.

    Was the bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction your choice, since you were at stage 0, if I recall, and no lymph nodes involved? Isn’t it too drastic? What were your other options? I am amazed to see you in that shape and ready to move forward. Your honesty and realism are inspirational and educational! May God continue to bless you and give you hope and strength!💕🙏

    • @JessicaValantPilates
      @JessicaValantPilates  Місяць тому +1

      I did not have other options and I discuss this in depth in previous videos and in my full Q&A podcast episode that came out today. Everyone has to make their own choices when presented with this life changing diagnosis and everyone's situation is completely different and personal. I don't believe anyone makes a choice that's "too drastic" in the face of a cancer diagnosis and we all do the very best we can with what we are given 💗.

    Hi Jessica. I am following with great interest your cancer journey. I am a three time survivor myself. I am a little surprised by this content because of the post surgery videos you have published. It appeared that aside from there being no pushups etc you've been progressing quite well. Are any of those videos re-published from before surgery? You look so wonderfully fit in them all.
