These unusual friendship are so heart warming. For instance, I spread grains and small nuts in my lawn for birds everyday. It's beautiful to wake up to the sweet chirping sounds. A year ago a piegon came around to feed on the grains. I haven't seen pegions in my neighborhood before so it was quite surprising. Anyways, this pegion kept coming everyday. A few days later another pegion came along and I know they were a couple. It always made me giddy seeing these lovebirds. I named the bigger one, which I think is the male, Oscar and the little one Emmy. A few weeks later i had to leave to visit my grandma in another town. I knew the birds would stop coming. I was sad but it couldn't be helped. But to my surprise, when I came back, I woke up to the chirping sounds the very next day. I ran towards my lawn and saw almost all the birds were there, even the pegions! I was so happy to see them, they didn't leave, even when there was no food they waited for me. I immediately fed them and for the first time Emmy came over to me. It was like she was saying that she missed me. After that it took me a few days, but then the pair would let me touch them and they started sitting on my shoulders, sometimes nibbling my earlobe. They are really cute. Soon they started building a nest in my shoe rack which was very unusual because pegions never really build a nest near human settlement. So I removed all the shoes and tried to make it look more greeny and natural. Emmy layed 2 eggs and they hatched into two beautiful babies. Even my dog Angel warmed up to them. And now I let them in my home and it's too funny and adorable to watch them play. It's been a year now since Emmy and Oscar arrived and I couldn't be any more happier. Many years ago I was playing the amateur golf tour I was out one morning for some early practice and ran across a late mallard hatchling. Mom had taken the other 12 or so chicks down to the pond for the first swim and this one (I named Bo) was still wet with an abusive male was picking on it. He would not have survived so I took the baby chick "Bo" with me back to the pro shop and made a nest for it in a shoebox. Still living at my parents back then, the "Bo" received 24/7 care. Daily I would take him back to the course with me but "Bo" would not have anything to do with the other ducks. However he would follow me around the course as I played. Once he learned to fly that added a new element to the experience but still would not leave me to join the other ducks. That September I took "Bo" to a friend of mine that lived on the St. Joseph River in Berrien Springs MI. where there were 1000's of ducks. Bo followed him like he did me....as he lived outside on their patio. Daily Bo would swim next to the row boat as they would go fishing. As the seasons changed Bo became a bit more curious about the other duck and swimming closer and closer to them until one day he joined the flock. That was 52 years ago now, thanks for bringing back the memories.
That's basically like raising a kid. If you are a good parent, they wouldn't want to leave you until they become adults and want to experience what society is like. One day, they will just up and leave by themselves.
He probably had a traumatic experience with his own flock and decided to have nothing to do with them. A different location in a different area with a different flock that were nicer to him than his own flock made him want to join the ducks.
I lived on a lake in Massachusetts in the 80s. We had geese that brought their babies to see us right after they hatched. One year when that happened, almost at once I noticed that one had a deformity called droop wing. Everything was find until one day all the babies were old enough to fly and they left her in our yard. We lived in a house very near the water and I knew the day would come that she would be left and when winter came she would freeze in the ice on the lake. Our basement, which opened to the lake, had a dirt floor so I built a large cage and I brought her in and she became my pet for a number of years. She layed eggs every year in a nest I built for her. I ended up selling the house and I found a home for her in New Hampshire on a farm with lots of other animals including some geese. She was well taken care of even to the point where she spent cold winter nights in the farmhouse. She lived a long life to her late teens and I was glad I could save her. This video is a nice tribute to a man who was able to save 2 and return them safely back to the wild.
@@jesusisalive3227 they are fun, and sometimes difficult depending on personality. Once we have the land, i will add more geese to our life as we absolutely love them. Behavior improves and is easier to handle if you raise them by hand imo. Pretty Bird is a pet-house-goose, so shell always live inside with us. Its where shes happy and what she knows. We love our crazy goose lol
When I was a kid I had friends like that. One excruciatingly cold January day in Massachusetts a young female bobcat came to visit. Bobcats have a reputation for not being friendly to humans unless raise to be so. She may have been someone's pet. Anyway she wanted in and so I let her in the basement where my bedroom was. I brought her food and provided a warm place. It had been about 15 degrees below zero that first day. My father was amused and my mother was not. She hated "filthy beasts." So I let her sleep with me in my room and within an hour she hopped onto my bed and curled up next to me. She made funny sounds a bit different than a regular house cat but I think it was the bobcat version of purring. I gave her a big meal for breakfast the next day then opened the basement door to let her back out. She acted like I was kicking her out of a five star hotel. She took one look at the icy tundra that was my backyard and said "nope don't think so" and marched back to my room and onto my bed where I joined her for a Sunday morning TV session. It went like that daily for the whole winter and into the spring then one day she decided to go outside and she liked it and then disappeared for a few weeks. She came back to visit from time to time, usually didn't come into the house unless it was really cold. Then I didn't see her all summer or fall but I think it was December when she came back this time with a couple of babies. They spent most of the winter and part of the spring and this went on for a few year. She stopped coming altogether but her children came for a few years after she stopped and then another generation after that. My dad had one rule (besides I had to clean up after them) I had to offer them the option of leaving every day.

Cool story Love
@@wordswordswords8203 Thank you .... totally true story and a great memory
That's basically like raising a kid. If you are a good parent, they wouldn't want to leave you until they become adults and want to experience what society is like. One day, they will just up and leave by themselves.
Love it
He probably had a traumatic experience with his own flock and decided to have nothing to do with them. A different location in a different area with a different flock that were nicer to him than his own flock made him want to join the ducks.
I think he is what I’d call a real man, setting the example for others to follow.

Albert Jones bravo to u too for saving your furry friend.
