Having a younger cat is of course much easier but old cats can certainly learn tricks too. Just be patient and give them treats easily at the start of the session and end the sessions before they get full or start ignoring you. Keep them coming back for more.
@euthyphro8064 we also don't need to pioneer the way ourselves. Watch some UA-cam videos on it. Read a short book. It'll go a long way to make it a bit easier. It's also what I did!
I think your statement is a little bit inaccurate as I have trained my cat to do quite a bit of stuffs ie opening door, chasing paper ball etc. However what I found difficult is having her do it on demand, they don't take obeying order well, for example after I taught them to open doors and she never close it. I can talk cats and when I asked her to close doors she looked back at me with an angry look "why"
@@Ignatiusyip1978 I’ve been around tons and tons of cats in my life. I volunteered in rescues for years, and all of my friends have them. I had them. Also tons and tons of dogs. Guess which one obeyed and could easily learn tricks?
Whistle to him, different tunes until he reacts the one he likes and he will begin to come to you. Cats like the sounds we make whistling for some reason...
READ THIS You can tell the trainers don't abuse them. 1. They have nice, clean, healthy looking coats. 2. They pet them after and/or before they perform. Thats how I trained my cat to let me hold her. It calms them do and has them trust you. 3. Cats are different. If you abuse them, they will not let you go near them. They will scratch you and run away. 4.The best way to train a cat is to be compassionate and loving. Also, the cat has to be used to people. They have probably been training these cats sience they were born by having people around to get them used to a crowd.
Olesya Clark - Stop assuming the cats don't want to be performing. I mean, really -- when was the last time you saw a cat take initiative to do something they didn't want to do?
The last time (and many times before) I heard the twisted logic like yours was from the sexual predators (especially child predators) right after their arrest. You sound exactly like them. Same sick and twisted mind f*ckery.
I am a trainer and it takes a lot of hard work especially for cats. It is also good to be the owner so you have one on one time at any time, day or night. These cats were very good. I loved every second of it. Hopefully they win 😻🤞😺💙🐾
Look, finally. After yeaaaars. People, now you see, not only dogs can do something amazing!! The Problem is that many people think, cats can't do anything. They can, if they want to. When we treat them in a right way, so they can earn our trust, they will do a lot for us. The difference is just, that a dog has fun while performing, a cat not. She's just doing it because she has nothing against it or because she knows what's expected of her.
All I have to do is point my trigger finger at my cat, say bang, and he cries and chitters as if I really shot him. Then turns his back to me looking offended. Lol
You're wrong. There is also a Russian cat trainer Kuklachev. His cats understand string theory and know from memory the number of Pi up to the ten thousandth character.
A stunning performance from these beautiful cats, it just shows that they CAN be trained ! You could see that Simon was prepared to be bored but in the end he was suitably impressed.I adore cats ! 💕
For any of you who are worried, these cats seem to be treat motivated based on their behavior and willingness to do the trick. If you ever tried to abuse a cat into doing a trick they'd be skiddish, aggressive, and unwilling to perform. It would also be extremely obvious if they were abused. Also how these ladies are picking up the cats are quite normal and a much better way than picking them up by their mid section considering how snake like and flexible their bodies are. They also make sure they have a good grip on the bars before letting the cats go.
Sally Patterson If the cats weren't being treated well we would be able to tell instantly. These cats were obviously trained with treats. If these cats were mistreated they wouldn't be doing these tricks, they would run and hide.
Sally Patterson It's normal cat behaviour. If the cats wanted to leave they would have run off the stage. They obviously trust the people who train them. Not to mention, basic cat behaviour. Cats won't learn from negative reinforcements, they'll see it as the person being cruel so they respond much better to positive reinforcement. So it would make more sense to use the treat tactic. I've had to move my cats litter box and every single time I use the treat tactic, once they go pee in their proper place I give them a treat. They start thinking "hey, whenever I go here, I get a treat. Maybe I should keep going here". It works. This makes sense, it's not easy and it takes a whole lot of work, but it's completely believable to teach cats tricks without abusing them. It's probably the only way to do it, because once again, cats don't respond to negative reinforcement.
A cat never runs around with its tail up high when it is not feeling happy. If they would be forced, they would not have their tails up high. I have 5 cats, I know when one of them is not happy you see it immidiately.
For any PETA person trying to bring up how this is animal abuse like the circus. Cats won't do anything unless you treat them well, and I'm 100% positive this was all done with treats.
We saw them at the big Apple Circus at the Lincoln Center today. Those cats had beautiful coats and looked very healthy. I actually saw one chowing down on a treat after a trick. What they probably do is divide their food for the day and feed them as they perform. Cats are fed and happy
These kitties are amazing, and so are their trainers! Being a cat owner, I know only too well that kitties do what THEY want to do, WHEN they want to do it! Others have commented that they feel bad for the cats and they don’t look like they’re having “fun”. With these particular kitties, it’s all about TRUST. There is no way these cats could be trained to perform any trick, let alone perform on stage in an unfamiliar environment unless they trusted their trainers EXPLICITLY. Patience, love and trust goes a very long way with any animal one wishes to train, and is imperative for a successful outcome that involves NO abuse or mistreatment..We’ll done, ladies!!
Tbh I'm very impressed, when the cats did the stunt I'm like very shook. I mean, unlike dogs, cats are like masters, they don't bow to you, you bow to them, and seeing this is like, "I wonder how long you take to train them to just listen to you without yawning" 😂
This act *truly* deserved to go further than it did. In a previous season, some lady who put on the most basic dog show you've ever seen went fairly deep into the competition because she constantly turned on the waterworks about not being good enough (she was absolutely correct there) and just coasted by on the sympathy votes 🙄before she got to the stage where her mediocre show and her tears weren't enough, and the true talent finally knocked her out.
This is amazing, it takes a lot of work as well as talent from both the owners and the cats! I was amazed towards the end there's a lot of trust between these cats and their owners showing that these are well loved animals!!
ANimE MaSTer that's an easy thing to train if your cat likes treats. Start with going to him, saying his name until he looks at you and give him a treat. Wait until he gets bored or distracted, say his name again and give him a treat when he looks at you. Then you can start doing it when he's further away. Ideally you want to motivate him to walk to you so you stop rewarding glances and start rewarding movement.
I thought one of my cats was deaf recently; normally she’d look at me when I call her name but not even an ear twitch. Nope, she was just ignoring me. Tummy full, had enough attention, no incentive to care about why I might be calling for her.
ANimE MaSTer really? My cats respond to their names and certain words like "Go", "Come" and "NO". Unfortunately their responses include meowing defiantly, smirking and glaring at me. But occasionally they obey
@@huitzilopochtli_tenochtitl496 they aren’t as eager to please as dogs are. Dogs are reliant on humans for love and affection, food and water, going for walks, etc. but cats just want to be fed and have their boxes cleaned often. As long as you do that, you’ll have loving cats that will respect you and want to be around you. If you ignore their needs and especially if you don’t clean their box often, they become very angry. Dogs are often more trusting and respond better to commands. Cats demand lol
This is an example that any animal can do tricks if they are loved and trained properly. But for thst we first have to gain their trust by loving them from the heart. Once they trust abd love us, they will listen to us. Generally people think that cats only care to eat, but i believe that cats take more time than dogs to trust, but once they do, they too are as good as dogs.. 😂 Be an animal lover instead of being a dog or a cat lover. 😇
FINALLY!!! Cats showing that they can do AMAZING tricks instead of dogs!!! Not that I don't enjoy seeing dogs do tricks, I just think it's becoming old news now for competitions like this.
Yeah, cats be like "Look hooman, I know you want me to do those tricks, but I won't do it just because you wanted to. I'll do it later when I feel like it. Like I care" *yawn*
Now that was refreshing to watch. Usually we see dogs doing these things--but it's absolutely amazing to see trained cats--that usually takes a lot of patience. Also, I was waiting to see if that second to last kitty was going to do his trick or decide not to. XD!
Finally someone showed that not only can cats do tricks too but they can do them better than dogs. All the dog auditions just do the same dancing routines. These cats did things a dog couldn't do if it tried. ( No, I don't hate dogs. I love dogs. I just hate that people say dogs are 'better' than cats.)
Its so sad to see they never went farther because they deserve it. Cats are hard to train because they had attitude and act like a boss (coz they are).
My cat was never able to do any of that stuff, but she was able to do a couple of things my doggo doesn’t do. She came when called, she would bring me stuff, and whenever my feet where cold, all I had to do was snap, and she would lay on them. Of course this little amount of training cost a ton of attention, and I never complained when she wanted it. I can never imagine the bond those girls had with their cats in order to able to command them to do such tricks. I hope people understand that when owning a pet, it is key to love them and cherish the time they have with them. A lot of people who says their cat hates them, are usually the ones who hate their cat. Thanks if you’re still reading this bible long comment. -A girl with cold feet
AllyCatPaws Stray cats will not be as cool as these cats are if they didn't have love and trust for the ladies on stage with them. Each kitty got a treat and/or a pet for their tricks. My mom had had each of her cats trained to come to a specific whistle, and it was done by using the whistle before feeding kitty. Worked amazingly on the occasions that kitty world sneak out.
AllyCatPaws Stray to all people who say their cat hates them: maybe you aren't ready to wait for a cat's trust yet, I'd suggest getting a kitten who would grow up with you and teach you to understand cats
Belle: I think such people should adopt an adult cat, instead. If someone goes to an adoption site, they can learn from the foster "moms" there which cats are particularly mellow and loving. With a kitten, you cannot tell what their personality will be like when they become an adult. (And, yes, you can be just as loving to eachof two kittens who are even siblings, yet each---as adults--will still have different personalities). I've worked in cat rescue for 15 years now and I've become VERY familiar with cat behavior. Will add that people who say they don't like cats---even if they've had cats---usually have not been the main person responsible for the cat's "care". YOU have to be the one responsible for feeding, petting, (scooping), in order to develop a relationship with the cat. Merely living in a household with a cat or cats----without being the one who cares for it----does not mean you develop a relationship. It's the hands-on CARING for the cat that results in a bond.
Cats are highly trainable, my 2 can do some tricks like playing fetch & sit. Also I trained them to go on walks/hikes with me, they follow off-leash like well-trained dogs.
frostdragon64 You’re so wrong. They do it because their owners give them a reward and/or punish them. Animals just want to live in peace, especially cats. They shouldnt be trained.
Depends on the breed, some are more trainable than others. And start training them from the very beginning, so they will learn that you're the boss. I believe that's your basis. Still, with so many cats, impressive!

My cat knows how to fetch, sit, stand etc on command ❤ Love training my animals ❤

You can tell the trainers don't
abuse them.
They have probably been

My Random Life Thanks, it was hard to tell for a second. Because I saw a PETA video of circus cats being abused.

Something tells me you are a cat person.

A stunning performance from these beautiful cats, it just shows that they CAN be trained ! You could see that Simon was prepared to be bored but in the end he was suitably impressed.I adore cats ! 💕
MelinaS Sasha my adopted feral cat learned how to sit because I wanted a dog at the time
I really wanted to train a dog
But cat worked as well
For any of you who are worried, these cats seem to be treat motivated based on their behavior and willingness to do the trick.
They also make sure they have a good grip on the bars before letting the cats go.
no cat will do a "trick" unless it is forced to. Something is not right here.
Sally Patterson If the cats weren't being treated well we would be able to tell instantly. These cats were obviously trained with treats. If these cats were mistreated they wouldn't be doing these tricks, they would run and hide.
I disagree, sorry
I have 5 cats, I know when one of them is not happy you see it immidiately.
cats do whatever the hell they want 90% of the time so i’m mighty impressed
The power of positive reinforcement.
The fact that these cats aren't scrambling away is already AMAZING.
❤
For any PETA person trying to bring up how this is animal abuse like the circus. Cats won't do anything unless you treat them well, and I'm 100% positive this was all done with treats.
If you make them hungry, they will learn anything for food. I'm quite sure thats the way they made it. Not fun
PETA are terrorists... (hides).
@solo ist SShhh. Don't be cruel. She is just a little fatter than other human and has no idea about proper calorie intake.
We saw them at the big Apple Circus at the Lincoln Center today. Those cats had beautiful coats and looked very healthy. I actually saw one chowing down on a treat after a trick. What they probably do is divide their food for the day and feed them as they perform. Cats are fed and happy
Cat: u give me food I give u money

This act *truly* deserved to go further than it did. *You know how hard this must've been my cat won't even respond to his name* 😂😂
ANimE MaSTer 😂😂😂 I relate
I thought one of my cats was deaf recently; normally she’d look at me when I call her name but not even an ear twitch. Nope, she was just ignoring me. Tummy full, had enough attention, no incentive to care about why I might be calling for her.

ua-cam.com/channels/9v1LuYUxGIqBNDF4_dazJA.html
@@huitzilopochtli_tenochtitl496 yea cats are mostly spoiled and don’t listen but most people train them with food or treats

Those cats are so fluffy.. and more athletic than I ever was.
All
AllyCatPaws Stray to all people who say their cat hates them: maybe you aren't ready to wait for a cat's trust yet, I'd suggest getting a kitten who would grow up with you and teach you to understand cats
Your right
