Girl, you are so good at this. And yes, this is very useful knowledge we in the relax community need to have on our list when we go to the hair store. Thank you for sharing!
So happy to have found your videos. I just returned to practicing law - that with 2 kids requires a simpler routine. Being natural just did not fit my lifestyle. Hopefully more women will be empowered to choose what’s right for them vs. what is on trend
Girl, you took us to school on this one. Complete with objectives, class content and a test at the end. It was kind of fun. I learned so much about moisturizers and proteins. Never really gave either any thought. I have some of those products. No wonder why my hair is dry sometimes. It's because I was using these products the wrong way.
Wow! To think I almost stopped watching this video when I realised your hair was relaxed - I'm glad I didn't, because this was just what I needed to learn about! ALLLLL of the products I use are protein laden products, and my hair is snapping off easily and feeling a little crispy. I didn't realise, but apparently my hair needs a lot more moisture ONLY! Thanks for this!
Paula, you made my day! Super happy that you continued to watch my video and it was helpful in understanding your hair better. This knowledge can be applied to any hair type, not just relaxed hair😉 Clarify and continue to up your moisture levels to restore balance in your hair💕 Thank you for watching!!
I scanned my products a few days ago and realised all my products had protein in them and I noticed my natural hair was becoming hard. This video definitely has helped me understand how to read ingredients lists more thoroughly. Although I don’t have relaxed hair this was very very helpful to me thank you so much! Hopefully my hair starts retaining healthy length again and stops breaking too. I have learned how to tailor my products to my hairs needs in this video
Right on time, I've been trying to figure out how to get more protein free products into my regimen and the way you broke down the ingredients to look for is just so informative Absolutely love your channel 💝
Yessss I was just wondering these things !! People say put protein in your hair by using this conditioner ... and I’m like wait ? This has protein in it ? I didn’t think that conditioners had protein in them .... but wondering why My hair still comes out dry with breakage !!! And I really needed this video !!!
Happy to help, girl. Yes, many conditioners have protein in them and it’s good for the hair but you have to be aware of it, know why you’re using it and balance it out with moisture in your regimen.
This video came right on time!! I need to look at my growing stash and be more aware of my moisturizing vs protein based products!! And loved the quiz at the end, very insightful video!💜💜
Thanks to following your protein and moisture steps, Iv been able to grow my hair to mid back. At the rate I’m going, I’ll be waist length by Christmas and my hair is so, so healthy. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 🙏🙏🙏
I really did not understand a lot about products for the hair before, thank you for clearly explaining what these products mean, this was very good video .
Thank you for answering all my questions. I've relaxed my hair after 10 years. And your page was recommended by another UA-cam vlogger. Protein has always been confusing to me. And I didn't realize the products I used had protein in them as I questioned why my hair is so hard after deep conditioning. Now, I'm understand the difference. I can't thank you enough🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
I certainly learned more about choosing products for my relaxed hair. Thank you for sharing great contents. One thing I battle with on my hair journey is being a product ' junky ' but I am consciously making efforts to discipline myself.
It can be challenging especially in the beginning when you are learning what your hair likes & dislikes. But with time continue to narrow down and focus on what works best. Perhaps top3 per category?
You won my thumb up at '4.45. Giiiirrrlll this video is e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. Informative, succinct, truly a must watch :) Wish you all the best, always.
I’m going back to relaxed hair AND GIRL YOU ARE SAVING MY LIFE! This video is excellent you are teaching me so much. I really love the Quiz at the end. Thank you queen!
Hello, thank you so much. This video was made two years ago. I tell you I appreciate so much running across this video. You don’t know how much this video gave me clarification on the different between, protein free product and moisture today is July 16, 2024. That’s what I’m struggling with breakage and dry hair, you are amazing thank you so very much.🥰🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤
Knowing is half the battle, sis. We’ve all been there. Now you can make the necessary changes to up your moisture levels and switch out a couple products with moisture based ones💕
New subscriber here. You had me pulling out all my products and reading. Can I tell you, protein was in almost everything I have in my products. My hair has been shedding and I am wondering if that's the reason. Oh my goodness. This video was super helpful and I totally loved the quiz. That really solidified the information. Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate the actual products being included. Just saying, “Read the labels” has never been enough to fully understanding the labels. ❤️
That aphogee looks like a great product its got quite a bit of moisturising properties. I see it had squalane and penthano, looks like a balanced product and if they sold it in my country I would definitely get it l
I am so glad to have found your video too. Super insightful! Now I know the reason for my breakage is due to over-use of protein conditioners. Will be checking the labels to identify moisturising conditioners (now I know what to look for) and incorporate them regularly into my wash routine. Thanks also for the helpful test at the end.
Awesome video! Loved the breakdown of the ingredients and how they each benefit healthy relaxed hair. Great lessons! Thank you for sharing your knowledge as we continue on our own hair journey ♥️🖤💚
Omg thank you so much,in my whole 7 year's if being natural I never new I how to distinguish between moisture and protein this helped me out so much. I have low porosity hair so I need more moisture than protein and now when I go shopping I will now know the difference . 💗💗💗💗💗💗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I struggle with this topic when buying products for my relaxed hair so this was really an eye opening video.Thank you so much, I took notes and I really enjoyed this video ❤️❤️❤️
This video was so good. Thanks for the great info. Just tried aloe Vera in my texlaxed hair for the first time and it was amazing! Aloe Vera definitely hydrates.
Hi Val. This was very informative. Wish I could have taken a screenshot of the products you had listed under moisture and protein at the end of the video.
I thought I'd take the time to offer some feedback. This is the video that made me subscribe to your channel and that's simply because I FELT like you cared for me and my hair. Thank you so much :)
Thanks for putting this video together! Love it! I got my hair relaxed two weeks ago after being natural for almost 5 years. Ive been wearing a flexirod set style and will continue to do so for the next couple weeks to avoid flat ironing. Looking forward to a healthy hair journey. Thanks!
@@HairliciousIncLove the quiz at the end. What is your go to protein treatment product? Also, if you tried ORS Hair Mayo before, what are your thoughts on it as a protein treatment. And what is your top 2 or 3 protein treatment products?
My former hair dresser educated me on the difference between protein and moisture based products. I had no idea that constant use of protein products actually weaken the hair shaft and will result in excessive shedding. My hair was THIRSTY!! I totally appreciate the knowledge, now my hair is thoroughly QUENCHED!
Thank you so much for this video! I have high Porosity hair and they are also very thin and low density. So they are prone to be dry and frizzy. Humidity, whether from rain or in hot Summer days kills them instantly. But also the heat when I use blow drying. Then I need above all moisture. Now I better understand the difference between moisturising products and protein based products!
Back to the basics👏🏾👏🏾 I needed this cos I felt an urge to step up my moisture game. And thank you for the product labels you showed and how interactive this was😘
Thank you so much for this in-depth video, I’m newly relaxed (followed your relaxed video & products) and this is very beneficial, thank you for your transparency! One of my favourite UA-camr’s ☺️
This was such an insightful and informative hair vid Val! Thanks so much for sharing your wealth of hair ingredient knowledge w/ us! My hair has struggled so much lately w/ staying moisturized and this is a true game changer w/ product ingredient labels! 💖
Great video Val. And I loved the quiz at the end...i got them all right.😊 I have learned so much from watching your videos over the past year just wanted to say Thank u.
This video actually helped a LOT you have no idea!!! I searched for videos on protein treatments because my hair has been looking dull and the curls aren’t as defined as they used to be, I was looking for product reviews to know what to buy. Turns out the hair mask I use once a week (when I wash my hair) is protein based and I might just have buildup. I Googled “signs of protein hair damage” and my hair checked every mark 🫣 so now I’m going the opposite direction and getting some moisture, something I’ve known my hair likes and needs more of anyway. Thank you so much beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Hey Nina!! Truly happy to help💕 I’m glad that this video put you back on track and you’re able to understand what your hair needs which is super important!! Wishing you a successful hair journey hun🫶🏾
I love the fact you too the time to do the moisture and protein teaching. Please teach more on what kind if products to use on 3B curly hair please or how to tell your hair type please and thank you
You’re literally the best ❤️ I have products that are drying my hair out and I’m like whyyyyy it says all these things but I never knew how to go off the ingredients not just a “pretty bottle” and “fancy words” lol this helped me a lot!! This is great, I'm thinking about going back to relaxer in September. Can you make an updated video about your haircare from monday to sunday? When you wash, co-wash, moisturize and seal and everything? Thank you 😊😊
I am very impressed with your knowledge of hair. My question is: If you have fragile hair that breaks easily, and shedding, how and where do I start?Which products should I start with. Please list them in your answer.
Another great video! Now, I'll actually know what the heck I'm looking at when I read those ingredient labels. Will definitely be educating myself more.
Thank you so much ! I need a moisturizing deep conditioner without protein! Whenever I use protein it messes up my hair and look frizzier. I was using curlsmith hydro cream smoothing mask and my hair absolutely loves it !! The only thing is I purchased it in marshals for $16.99 and ulta sells for $30. I wanted to find a cheaper hair conditioner that can keep my curls looking beautiful. Thank you now I can confidently go to the store and find the right products for me ! ❤
Besides the slew of information you gave at the 1st part of the video, I appreciated the Quiz as it enabled me to practice looking at the contents of the products for myself. That was a most useful practical application to the information you gave. Thank you! 🙏🙂
OMG thank you so much for this video, I've decided to learn more about my hair and start my journey, and these two have been very confusing to me. I just noticed that I've been using only protein products for months because I didn't know how to differentiate them and know my hair is brittle and the texture is so bad. You are the first one that really explained, thank you
This was sooooo helpful! I just realized that my a majority of the products I use are protein based (ORS line). No wonder I have issues with moisturizer. I’m gonna switch it up though. Thank you ❤️
I noticed my ORS products were drying my hair, and when I read ingredients, it was everything bad. I don't understand how its so popular maybe they just weren't working for me😢
a lot of these products have silicones or mineral oil so they will coat the hair and not penetrate it with the protein or moisture you're looking for so i would watch out for those ingredients also. very informative and appreciated video.
Thank you so much for researching and then doing this video! This is the exact info that I need. There are SO many videos that just tell us the difference between needing protein and needing moisture. But this is the first one that I’ve found that actually breaks down what that looks like in hair products. So, THANK YOU! If you need ideas for videos (and you haven’t done one on this topic yet), it’d be very beneficial for us to know what different oils do on our hair. For example, i believe that some are more penetrating, whereas others are heavier and sit on hair. some are good for the scalp, some are good for the follicle. It’d pair great with this video because my next step is to look up what oils to use after I moisturize my hair to lock it in.
Excellent video! You are the first person to break this down for me in a way that I could truly understand it. You are a natural teacher. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this information.
Wow, thank you! I wish I had a video like this when I was starting my hair journey. Lol. Glad I could help and bring clarity to reading product ingredients💓 it will truly help you in your journey.
Thank you so much for all that you do. I discovered you last Spring during lockdown when I had to wash my hair for the first time in years and you legit saved my hair! Wishing you health and much success!

I’ve been waiting for a video on this topic!
So helpful!
Yay! So happy to hear💕 Thanks for watching luv.
I like the way you did the quiz that was very helpful actually cause I stay forgetting. Well done as usual.
Can you do a video based on the best moisturizing products recommended on the market right now?
Excellent video! I’m double checking all my products to make sure I have a balance of both protein and moisture. Thanx much🥰
Thank you so much for researching and then doing this video!
I wouldn’t know those crucial things without this video! Thank you so much
I enjoyed every minute of the video. Useful information and very informative. Keep making these videos.
Wow! So happy you found my channel - welcome! We can certainly take matters into our hands and achieve healthier hair.
