KC HiLites Jeep LED Headlight Testing & Review

- Опубліковано 16 жов 2024
- In this video I compare all the different LED lighting options from KC HiLites for the Jeep Wrangler JK. All of the testing was done at 16 feet from the meter and at 14.2 volts.
I do not believe that the Lux readings were accurate because of the differences in the color temperature of the lights. I also do not know if the Dr. Meter Lux meter can accurately read the lux output of LED lights. *

Can't wait to see your thoughts on the non-Pro Gravity headlights. I'm shopping LED headlights right now, and haven't seen much for reviews on them.
Thanks for watching! I've been shooting the video for the regular Gravity lights these last few days. I really want to try them in the rain because that's where the KC/Peterson lights kinda' fail. Their color just makes it hard to see when it's raining, but in all other ways they seem better than both the gravity lights. I'm still testing all of them though.
Man, thank u for this test. Now i know which headlights to buy for my lada Niva. In my country there are only russian lada stock headlights and tuning Chinese headlights, Chinese headlights so bad. Now im thinking of ordering KC gravity 7” for my car. Thanks for help!
Glad the video could help you make an informed decision. You are correct about the Chinese lights. Some can be bright, but the light is not focused and nearly unusable. Thanks for watching!
Let there be light!
I still remember the yellow smiley face KC HiLites covers my dad had on his KC's on his old CJ7.
I've had a few of those, those the first thing I think of whenever I hear someone talk about KC. Thanks for watching!
That's the first thing I picture too. Just kind of makes you feel good. Haha
It's remarkable to me that KC hasn't built a light to outperform the Petersen one, which has been around quite a while. Thanks for sharing this!
I know! I had really high hopes for the Gravity line of headlights. They are still really good lights, it's just that the KC/Peterson Manufacturing ones are a little bit better. The Gravity lights do have better cutoff lines and their light is a little better controlled I guess you could say, on the low beams. If I had never had the PM set I would have loved the Gravity lights, it's just that I've had better. Thanks for watching!
One of the factors that's important to me as I look at LED headlights is the shape/design of the housing. I have a strong dislike of those that are near-flat and stick out farther than the factory lights. Unfortunately, both the original KC (PM) lights and the Truck-Lite models share this attribute. The JW Speaker and VisionX headlights are the perfect shape, IMO, but who wants to pay $700 or $800, respectively, for headlights?
Smokey the Jeep Yeah!Plus I'm not a big fan of Projector style lights, no mater the brand. Projector lights will always give you a prism effect. I don't want gold, purple and blue in my headlights. J.W Speaker has this issue more so than any brand I've ever seen.
Very true. Speakers are great to look at, and throw good light, but you're right. There's a tremendous amount of yellow at the edges of their headlights.
Anything is better than stock. Great video
That is soo right!
great video bro 👍
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!
Have you done any more testing on the Non Pro Gravitys? KC has a really good sale right now that I would like to take advantage of. Thank you for the time and effort to test these.
I have, but I haven't gotten any of the video edited yet. The regular Gravity ones are pretty good, still not as good as the KC/Peterson ones.
If you get the chance go to the about tab on my channel page to get my Email address and send me an Email. I may be able to send you a small video clip.
Rocky X TV I appreciate it but I missed the sale. No rush now, I can't wait to see your video on them. Surprised they took a step back with the designs but I guess Peterson did a better job. Thanks for the information!
Not a problem. The Gravity lights are a good starting point, they just should have done more work with them before their release. I wouldn't be surprised to see updated versions of both the Gravity and Gravity Pro. They have to with the Pro because they don't fit. Well they fit but wobble around.
Rocky X TV yeah, it seems like they were rushed. From what I followed at the beginning when they were announced the dates kept getting pushed back with no solid reasons why.
between the first version and the pro's which was your fav?
A while after making this video and reporting some issues back to KC I was told they made some changes to the PRO lights. I can't speak for the "improved" PRO lights, but out of the ones I had, I still have and use the original KC/Peterson Manufacturing lights. Way better performance IMO.
Curious how you came to use 16’?
Do any of these produce enough heat, to melt snow and ice off of the lenses?
The original KC/PM, regular Gravity and the Gravity G4 fogs do. I didn't have the Gravity Pro's long enough to test, but I imagine they would do fine. Thanks for watching!
Wish they made some headlights for the YJ 😑 would love to get some if they did.
If I remember correctly they had a set of square Gravity lights, but they just disappeared. I was looking for some for a friend and remember seeing them a while back, went to look them up and it's like they never had them. Maybe they didn't and I'm imagining things.... Thanks for watching!
@@RockyXTV if they are smart they should make some it would fit a lot of jeeps from the 90s
Yep! They would also fit quite a few GM vehicles. Most 5X7/7X6 headlights are the same. I could use a set for my S10!
do they have it for kj?
unfortunately not. I've seen a few companies that sell kits that you install inside you KJ light housings, they were pretty expensive if I remember right. I'll see if I can find one of the links again. The issue is that KJ's have 8" headlights. Thanks for watching!
