I was waiting for this lesson ever since that Daily Show performance! I suck at guitar but managed to learn Blackbird earlier this year. This is going to be tough, but nothing many hours of practice can't overcome! Thank you!
Thank you for making this. As someone else mentioned in the comments, he plays it acoustic on Rogan and I actually really like how it sounds strummed. Would love to hear you play it like that as well !
Thank you so much! At Joe Rogan's show he plays habits acoustic. Could you also explain how he does that? Or is it just the same but with strumming instead of fingerpicking?
You’re welcome! Yeah, I checked it out and you’re right. It’s the same chords, but strummed instead. I’m planning on doing a follow up lesson soon that will cover that as well as how Gary Clark plays it on the original (hybrid picked). I simply didn’t notice until after I made this video, ha. Thanks for checking it out!
I played this with my fingers, so I used thumb for the 5th string, index for the 4th string, and ring finger for the 2nd string. Gary Clark Jr is playing with a pick and hybrid picking it though! So, he is playing the 5th and 4th strings with his pick (down down), then middle finger for the 2nd string. Now that I try it, I like his way better! 😂 Either way works, of course. Great question, thank you!

@@steellemonstudios Thanks, but I mean where you break off to play other artists or note patterns unrelated. That’s partly because I’m a newbie so struggling to follow already, I’m sure it makes sense to a lot of better musicians - and again - it’s free lessons! So thanks regardless
No way I just searched this and the first tutorial I’ve seen on this song was posted 9 minutes ago. Thanks man
Ah! Glad to hear it. You’re welcome!

Ah, glad to hear it, and don’t worry, you’ll get it! This one has similar shapes to “Blackbird” (just one note in between those “Blackbird” shapes).
The rest of it please! Thanks so much for part 1
Ah, you’re welcome. I’ll get into it.
My man! Was looking for this. Thank you

Ah, thank you! It’s pretty cool how GCJr is performing this song so many different ways. I’ll be revisiting this one soon for another lesson.

Oh man I just wanted to know where to place my fingers
Try jumping to 2:25 or so. I get into the chords, frets, and fingerings. Thanks!
This is awesome! Thank you. Is there a picking pattern to follow?

Thanks so much for uploading, but incredibly frustrating how you never stay on topic…
No problem. I always add the time codes, just in case you want to skip the tangents.
