Thanks Shane. My Y piece completely separated right at the actual glue joint of the Y. Sikaflex and stainless cable ties held it together until the replacement arrived from the UK. Perth prices are way too high!
G’Day Shane , great videos as always,, I did all what you did on my D3 then I found the tiny hose on turbo was tiny cut under the clamp I changed it , I go for drive to check all went good then after 10 minutes in my way back home it starts a siren sound 🤷♂️🤦♂️ Do you think Turbo gone ?? Thank you bro Cheers Matt 🫡
I did give that short hose a good look over, looked ok from what I could see. I think the turbo itself is still good, just that variable vane actuator was a little sticky which could very well be a cause for low boost. When I manually stroked the vanes it felt nice and smooth so maybe the actuator is starting to go? But this engine has nearly 440,000km on it so I wouldn't really be suprised with shit like this wearing out
Yes, I forget the code number but it was an underboost. Its still in the ECU so I can get the actual code when I get home. No lube on the linkage, just got in there to move it back and forth to free it up. To be honest I could not feel any sticky points when moving it by hand so I'm thinking its possibly the actuator itself playing up? Improved after playing around with it but its still not perfect
@@Shanes_Shed plenty UK cars get this symptom earlier due to corrosion and seem to respond to a bit of spray in there. Are your shocks original 2005? Both done well to get this far.
No shocks are not original. I've replaced them once since I've owned the car. I will have another go at freeing the actuator up before I make a call on replacing the turbo - to be fair its approaching 440,000km on the original engine so I wouldn't be surprised if the turbo is on its last legs
I replaced my fronts originally due to a leak in the airbag, then rears a little later as the back end was getting a little wallowy - but mine has lots of extra weight at the back

Now that is something I haven’t heard failing before
Thanks shane..i need to look at both of these, mine feels a little slouchy at the moment...enjoyed the test drives/gap screen 👍
Thanks dude!
Cheers for this Shane. I take it you just sprayed WD40 on the actuator and pulled and pushed it with some long nose pliers?
Just the old push pull, improved a bit but still throws low boost every now and again so a bit of lube will be required to see if it improves anymore

Matt
Oh my weekend will be spent at work🤑
Next video upgrade the turbo
Could be next video convert it to a demo derby car
@@Shanes_Shed nar you want something that will last haha

We don’t have the corrosion issues here in Australia, my 2005 is still on original shocks at 300,000 kms. Working fine.
