Great playing, brother! Tone sounds killer. I was just thinking...this album is 27 years old. I remember buying it day 1 & listened to it nonstop everyday for a month before I listened to anything else lol 🤘🏻 never gets old.
Personally as good as their later albums are, every riff every song is absolutely killer on NOLA, and don't think they ever surpassed it or recaptured the majick of this record
I have to say, that although the Mofeta does sound good, it definitely is different sounding to the Model fet. I got the kit from Musikding, with all the parts already included, i just did the soldering, so all the parts are correct and i know my soldering is decent. The tone controls are not very responsive and it sounds dark, lacks presence/treble. There is a lot of EQ tweaking that i had to do in Logic to get this tone. And i have heard several comments that the PCB design of the Mofeta is not ideal. Is does sound good in the room when playing through an amp, but for recording direct, it needs tweaking in the DAW. Just my opinion of it, your experience may vary... Here is some advice i got about the PCB on reddit: "The charge pump is nestled in between a bunch of long runs to high impedance circuit nodes and is just blasting out noise everywhere. If you're able, tack a 100nF X7R cap from pin 8 on the charge pump to the nearest suitable ground (probably pin 3 but YMMV). And consider tacking another one across pins 4 and 8 on the TL072, as it has no local decoupling. Also, if you find the lower gain tones to be overly muddy, try socketing C8 and swapping it out for a lower value cap. That value isn't correct on the build doc (it should be 270pF) but you can season to taste. I honestly have no idea where he got the 680pF value that is listed on the build doc."
@@DoomTones Thanks for the awesome response and your thoughts on it. You're a fucking legend mate. I'm def thinking about a few different preamp pedal options in that sort of family of tones for a new portable setup. Ever tried any of the fuzzlord stuff out?
@@electricmeatpuppet Thanks a lot! im not in the US so the shipping costs/taxes are too high for me to get the fuzzlord stuff. And i rarely see his pedals on reverb in europe. Im actually seriously thinking of getting a Kuro T120 Matamp preamp pedal. Demos of it are incredible. Either that or the Ananashead GT73.
NoLa sludge is like Norwegian black metal, sure you can make sludge metal no matter where you are but sludge metal will always be associated with Louisiana
And at the time thrash, death and black metal was huge, this was so against the then metal mainstream. Timeless classic.
The change of rhythm during Lifer's breakdown always gets me.
That's some good writing right there
Hell yeah man love some Down. You've added a little more doom to the tone and it sounds killer brother. Thanks for sharing.
thanks! i appreciate it!
Swan song is still to this day probably one of my favorite songs ever
One of the best debut albums of all time and you did it justice.

@@DoomTones Awesome, I live in Australia so I feel your pain.
Super😊
🔥🔥👏👏👍👍
Great recording but try bending 14th fret and lifting off to open note instead of hammering/sliding it sounds more spot on 😊
thanks for the advice, i saw some live footage and they do it exactly like you said

Would the Acapulco hold act like that sunn preamp?
here is my video where i use the Acapulco gold straight into the audio interface as a preamp. ua-cam.com/video/lAuBk5AgoAk/v-deo.html
What kind of guitar is that?
