- When sisters Beth and Annie and their best friend Ruby become fed up with playing by the rules and not getting the respect they deserve, they band together to take control of their lives -- by holding up a local grocery store. Beth's the perfect wife and mother, but her used-car-dealing, cheating husband has sent her family into financial ruin; Ruby is happily married to a policeman but can't afford the medical bills and experimental drugs to help her daughter; and Annie, a single mom, is caught in a nasty custody battle with her ex. In desperate need of money, the women plan the heist expecting to ease their financial burdens. But new to the game of crime, they get pulled in deeper than they ever imagined -- and the only way out of this will be together.

I find it odd that they don't think beth's relationship with Rio is part of the draw to the show. Seems odd they don't, i am not sure how many people would watch without that factor. 3 suburban housewives tired of baking cupcakes wouldn't keep me watching.

I feel like the main three aren't as close to Manny Montana (Rio) off set, so they don't see the show outside the main three perspective. You'll see Manny in solo interviews without anyone else from the cast with him. To me, it seems like he doesn't get along with the main three since he's probably the most humble (from the interviews he's in)
@@aidalove9411 Retta is like the most humble chick out there. Mae Whitman also doesnt ever appear to have much of an ego either, as she's definitely more of a character actress. And Christina Hendricks, from what I can tell, appears very down to earth and humble as well. So although Manny Montana seems humble, I dont really see how that would factor in as a rift between them. The only somewhat "star" before this show was Christina Hendricks and once upon a time Matthew Lillard. So I dont think there's any 'big timing' going on here. If anything, I think it stems from his side. I think he distances himself. While I LOVE the character Rio and would loooove to see Beth / Rio, when i watch Manny in interviews, IMO he thinks more of himself and his character. The title of the show is Good Girls. Yes Rio is a main character that fans clicked with, but it is centered around the women and the women's motivations. Regardless, Rio is a gang leader, and despite the actor Manny trying to push Rio as a father just trying to earn for his child, common sense will tell you that his character has been in the game for more than the 5 or 6 years his kid has been alive. Hes in the game cause hes that type of guy. Not a knock, but hes not the hero of this story.
Having said all that, I agree that for some strange reason, the actors seem to blow off the Beth / Rio relationship. In this, and I have seen Manny Montana acknowledge the chemistry but at the same time dismiss it, in almost every interview for the show. I always get the feeling from the actor that he doesnt want his character and Beth together. Tbh, I find it annoying. They are clearly aware of social media and their fans. It takes about 0.3 seconds on UA-cam, Insta, whatever to see the fans' OBSESSION with Beth / Rio. The fact that he and possibly the other actors blow it off, is annoying to me. I also think it's a bit of a slap in the fans' faces. You can tell from majority of fans that they ship those two hard. Why blow that off if that's what the fans want??
I completely agree with you. And I would think if they were smart, they would look at the many, many, many videos on UA-cam cut together to show Beth / Rio chemistry, and take note that that is what fans want and it's something major that entices the fanbase. Like you said, I'm not staying on that long just to watch 3 suburban housewives (even tho I really like all the characters and actors). And I'm certainly not staying on to just watch a show about Rio and some random basic bitches. A boss of a crime syndicate on basic cable 🙄 There are too many other gang / crime shows that do better cause that's their wheelhouse. This show was about 3 ordinary moms / wives that got sucked into a criminal world and all that goes in it. So the Beth / Rio interaction and potential for relationship is a great layer to this show. And it also makes the characters paradoxical and interesting. Beth is this Martha Stewart type mom, but she is really good at washing money and she is hot for some gang banger! And Rio is a criminal. Let's not forget he kills people and has pulled many guns on Beth. But yet (before Beth shooting him), he showed a soft side for her and perhaps was fighting affection and feelings for her
Aida R he isn’t a fan of LA. He lives away from it with his wife and kid. He isn’t as close to the cast but I’m sure they get along. I honestly don’t think he enjoys the romance between Beth and Rio though. Last year when he was on livestream with his wife someone commented that they shipped them and he reacted like he was grossed out. He literally said “ugh” 🤷🏽♀️

Maybe his wife being disrespectful is the reason they are *supposedly* bitter toward him. I always hear people say Manny Montana seems so humble and wonderful in interviews. I dont really see it. I see someone who plays the humble part because he character is sexy and has females going wild that watch this show. But if you really listen to his statements, he talks about Rio like he is the show. He views Rio as the "hero" of the show and the women keep getting in his way, but he just really wants to make money for his family. He talks like he is some groundbreaking actor. Ummm this isnt DeNiro in Taxi Driver. You just play a hot gang banger who smolders when he looks at Beth

There's no time to hate in this season, I mean who doesn't need money and the help but there will be people in the way at all times and to keep a eye and not end up in jail it the main quest for everyone.

I thought I I was a brio Stan, but I love how they obviously attracted to eachother but hate eachother at the same time. I don’t care to see their relationship anymore than what it is. The attraction and sexy appeal was there, but they’ve been through so much betrayal with one another that it’s clear they will never be together.

there are RUMORS that there is bad blood between manny and christine but they claim there isnt any and christine said that the only thing she doesnt like is that manny calls her chris offset but i believe she meant it as a joke but i believe one of the main reasons is manny’s wife is jealous with the girls in this show might be a reason that could affect manny’s relationship with the rest of the cast (the girls mainly) and he is known to be quiet i believe and keep to himself so that might be a factor too
I think that as RIO is the more outstanding character and the fans LOVEE him, maybe the rest of the cast is jealous in a certain way...

Everyone watches for rio, I watch for annie, ruby and Beth. They’re so hilarious , their emotional deliveries are phenomenal and I looove their dynamic. Rio is a narcissist prick. He gave me anxiety and irritated me everytime he was on screen.
