excellent analysis. i personally think they wrote themselves into their own cage because they were trying to tick off all the checkboxes on the woke checklist. they tried so hard to stay on message that the organic opportunities to expand the story weren't fully explored.
Anastasia- you really need to get a job in film critiquing, or writing👌🏻 the way you broke it down was really well detailed and to the point. Nice!
Things that also annoyed:
The fact that these ladies were always broke. Like you mean to tell me they robbed multiple businesses, laundered mad money and could barely at any point afford to pay basic bills. Seriously, the worst criminals ever. There was nothing boss bitch about it. Sometimes they seemed just downright stupid and silly.
Also, they always complained about wanting to be "normal and good" all while consistently choosing to scam or steal willingly. They always hung their hat of blame on Rio. Like he made them that way and was the cause for their path. Yet the minute he tells them to stop, get out and go home. They're plotting a new way to get right back to it and become annoyed with the thought of normalcy. It's like what the fuck do you want? It's was very annoying.
Rio had the best storyline, I saw potential in dean. I felt like they were both better off without Beth.
Stan had potential too but as time progressed he became more stupid by the way of his wife.

I would rather watch a spinoff of Rio's character with better and more consistent writing with a new love interest. I also like the brother storyline and think it would be an interesting dynamic to explore.

I think Ruby and Stan would have been a stronger lead family in this show . Their motivation toward obtaining the money for their daughters treatment is more compelling than Beth and Dean’s storyline.

fr i hate beth and dean. Beth could have sold her stupid house and furniture, divorced dean and make him pay child support, and gotten a job while she goes to college. she didn't have to rob a grocery store, and she shouldn't have taken back dean. he cheated on her several times, and constantly belittled her and she clearly wasn't happy with him. and then from then on she didn't even do it for money, she constantly destroyed things for her family and friends because she was on a power trip.
Manny was the reason I got into watching the show lol…I can’t wait to see what else he does.

It’s almost as if the girls were hurted by the fact that Rio’s character was so lovable. Maybe they felt that the show was about them, and Manny wasn’t supposed to be the main interest of the show.. what ever it is, it’s clear that the girls don’t like him.

Definitely agree on the points about rio. We never really see what he’s thinking or doing. Especially, when he has to fix beth’s mistakes/cover for her. Since day 1 he’s been getting all of them out of trouble when they slip up. Overall, I wish the writers would’ve explored his part of the story more.
Especially, after being shot by Beth. We never saw more about the operations and questioning he had to go through. I still wonder who rio turned into the feds after he was shot. I assume they were guys working under him but that’s about it. When he got out, we didn’t even see how he got business up and running so quickly.
They gave fans just enough of Rio to keep them hooked and I'm assuming didn't bank on Manny doing so well/becoming a fan favorite. I don't know why they didn't give him a bigger role since fans kept demanding it each season unless the 3 "main stars" complained about being overshadowed. I stopped watching by season 3 when it became clear they were going to continue to give Manny less and less screen time. I couldn't stand Beth (Christina) from the get go and couldn't put up with her any more.
I agree, and I also think they made rio's character somewhat annoying bc this back and forth thing between him and Beth just gets cringy and overused as the seasons progressed. I don't even think the budding romance fans were hoping for was going to happen anyway. it's clear beth does not love him but clearly he does.

@nak3938 I am very late to this but I only just watched the whole show. I don’t think Rio actually turned anyone into the feds, I think he was pretending to do so just to appease the feds (knowing he is vulnerable to Agent Turner after being shot) all while plotting to kill them behind their backs. Rio gives Agent Turner this “info” knowing he won’t be alive long enough to fully investigate anything.
I agree with this whole video! Rios character was so mistreated! That’s why he don’t even mention the show ever lol I think he was over it anyway and probably would’ve left soon. And what happened to the kids?! The only kid we see is Ben and while he’s a great character Ruby’s daughter had so much potential on the show as well and we don’t see her at all. What happened to Little money and his expensive school?! Like there’s so many missed opportunities. I hate to be this person but the people of color could’ve carried this show and they were all pushed back … let’s be real
OMG 100% AGREE WITH YOU. There is definitely something to be said about how they highlight certain characters over others... and I'm especially disappointed with how they've ignored Ruby's daughter considering they did some great character work with her in the past. All round wasted potential.

Agreed 100%. Beth and Deans storylines were so insanely boring the last 2 seasons. They had so many characters they could have written more for but only focused on the boring white suburban parents LMAO

She really did not seem like she wanted to do the last 2 seasons. I think she was trying to get the guy off the show with the shoot out with the FBI agent. Meh She boring actress and rude AF when she mentions Mr Montana. Not professional at all.

It would be so interesting to see what she is thinking, like did she ever steal again ? was she ever tempted to do it? does she thinks that it's okay to steal as long as it is for a good reason? does she like the idea of her mother being a criminal? how was effecting her emotionally ? and so many other things that they could have done with all of the charaters storylines but instead we got a freaking face care community only of men and all that was based on Dean's character the least fav of the show...

Yes I totally agree with u. The fans Loved Rio because he was Interesting And Attractive and the same for the ship. But when they stopped showing us both of those things is when it became boring As in season 4 I found myself loosing interest in them because of how Beth was acting and they stopped showing us Rio scenes as much. Which became more boring and I’m honestly glad they canceled it because if they would have killed Rio off it would have been a disaster.
I think Rio's character was interesting but after a while his character became overused and annoying (in my opinion). Then it became boring, and kinda weird bc up until now Rio is not captured or framed. Beth became annoying and her husband, even worse. I think the hitman was an interesting character and they could have used him more and not just focus on Rio alone. And tbh i do not think this budding romance between rio and beth would happen anyhow bc Rio is just in denial and beth rlly doesn't love him.
They also didn’t give much background info on any of the characters. Other than showing how Beth and Ruby had been friends since childhood, and when Beth and Dean met.
We don’t know anything about Rubys life. Nothing about Annie’s life and how she had a kid so young. Nothing about Rio and how he got into ANY of the shit he was in.
By Season 4, we should have known way more about these characters and why they are they way they are.

I actually wouldn’t mind Dean still being on the show if they hadn’t gone back on his & Beth’s divorce (and acknowledged his cancer lie) rather than Beth reverting back to the role of “wifey” while letting Dean throw more money down the drain…basically if there had been forward movement in the relationship rather than the same old thing over & over again. Which was the problem with ALL the storylines…the hitman, the car wash, Annie’s relationships, Ruby always following Beth’s lead, etc…it was all so repetitive

They never acknowledged Dean lying about cancer. That was a red flag for me. Writers didn’t know what to do. Shows get canceled when the writers don’t listen to their audience. I believe they should have just let them become savvy criminals… like pick a lane. Good girls has been trash since season 2 ended. What happened to Patty or whatever her name was? She chopped up her husband up and it was never mentioned again.

The writers were so obsessed with Christina, they pushed Manny out of it. Never could understand, why the girls are so hating on Manny. He’s definitely not perfect, but as an actor for Rio’s character, he did it better then the girls did there’s.

Christina also said Manny is a great actor and very professional but everyone chooses to ignore that. Instead, they show this clip of her joking around and saying she doesn’t like the nickname. There is no drama. There has never been proof of drama or that they dislike each other. People on set have always said it’s the most fun and most tight knit group of people. I just wish everyone would leave the rumors to rest and stop fueling them. If you watch for Rio or Manny, then fine. But these amazing actresses also carried the show and brought so much to it that it wouldn’t otherwise have.
@@golden_lore I disagree. Brio carried the show: Beth and Rio. MM's interpretation of Rio kept the audience intrigued and they wanted more. It's clear from the clip featured in this YT that CH had her feelings hurt over this and felt a particular way about Rio the character and Manny the actor. She was rude and disrespectful of an actor, who at that stage, had less clout than her.

I'm glad Manny didn't agree to the pay cut. He literally was the only reason the show survived for so long. I think that like you said, the writers planned on him being a short-lived character and not becoming a fan favorite. I too thought it was suspicious that they didn't increase his role despite the public outcry and everything GG related, was full of fans wanting more Rio and Brio. So I think that they didn't increase his screen time because they probably didn't want to have to change the direction of the storyline they planned and probably just took out whatever new characters were going to drive the storyline and just adjusted them for him. Which is why he still had little screen teem as the potential new characters were only meant to drive the storyline and be thrown away after. And/or, Christina, and probably Retta, didn't like that they were being overshadowed by a throw away character and probably used their main role status to prevent Manny from getting more scenes.
I am also upset that the ladies badmouthed Manny when he comes off as so laid back and grateful in interviews. Not to mention the fact that he was the reason those two still had a show to work on for 4 seasons. Christina was even edging out the other two leads yet Retta takes it out on Manny? While Brio clearly was the driving force, they basically dropped Brio and focused on Beth and only sprinkled in Manny enough to string along the fans. And after season 1, I honestly didn't even see the point of Ruby/Retta. Christina isn't even a great actress, no offense, which is why the show was losing views because the show was resting on her shoulders and she couldn't carry it alone. Honestly, I would have preferred to see more of Mae/Annie and Rio together as they had a nice bromance going on.

Christina undid her character development and played the good little wifey and kept it going the rest of the show. Even when it was her and Mathew (Dean), Mathew outshone her. She just isn't a strong actress in my opinion.

The show can’t decide what it is- is it about the girls and their friendship and struggles, is it a crime drama or is it a comedy. It can have all of these elements if it tried.
Instead they focus way more on Beth than the other two. Ruby only does what Beth wants and has problems with Stan, they never mention her kids anymore. Annie has been in terrible stories involving trash men as you said in the video. She got her GED and now what? She’s into a garbage guy who fed her food from the trash .. like is it supposed to be funny? She’s just there to make jokes.
I liked the relationship between Rio and Beth but they have ruined it- either have them be together against everyone’s expectations or have them be apart for good. Also, I like the actor but Dean has to go. Either kill him or put him in jail because no one cares about his storyline.

Honestly i even wanted Beth to put rio in jail bc his character was not interesting again. Deans alpha-male cult pyramid scheme storyline was so boring and honestly really predictable. There’s a lot of things the show did wrong, but giving Dean a whole uninteresting storyline after his character had already been so hated is definitely up there on the list

At first, I thought that the reason for Rio’s minimum time on the show was because the writers knew the fans loved him, and they wanted to maintain his character as mysterious as possible and make us want more of him. But after seeing the interviews, it’s clear that there is some very hard hating towards Manny.
I stumbled onto your video quite by accident. I will have to say that you hit the nail on the head with your viewpoints. I'm surprised that they even got a fourth season after the disappointment that season 3 was. I didn't even waste my time looking at it on Netflix. There were only a few scenes that I actually liked, and if I could have put them on a reel, I would have been totally satisfied with those as season 3. However, those scenes wouldn't probably amount to thirty minutes. The way that Christina portrayed Manny calling her Chris, I sincerely doubt that he said it in that fashion. I've seen him just being himself on his brother's pod cast and he doesn't talk like that and display those type of mannerisms.

Also, about Christina (Chris) and Retta not liking Manny - there's also another interview where they're basically saying they sometimes forget he's not a real criminal. Like, they can't separate the role from the actor, which shouldn't really be a thing in a professional workspace. I also wonder why Christina didn't bite her tongue in this interview, it's very clear she doesn't like him but... c'mon, many words were spoken, and they were mean, why would you say things like that in THAT tone about your collegue.

The ladies saying that they sometimes forget he's not a real criminal is a compliment, not an insult. It's a testament to his brilliant acting chops. An actor being indistinguishable from the character they are portraying (at least, on set) is evidence of real mastery of their craft. Co-actors, directors, producers, etc. make these kinds of comments all the time. Let's try not to read negativity and hatred into everything, please.
he's a method actor. he slithers around on set creating tension and it gets great performances out of both of them. give the man his credit. he's a pro.

I think I'm glad that the show got cancelled because now they can't mess it up anymore. Rio's character was so likeable because he was a femist despite being a gangster. Whereas Dean, a supposed family-man and legal business owner was super sexist.
Rio's character had depth, even with all the mystery surrounding him. But everything that was revealed about Dean just made him more and more unlikeable.
Do I wish the writers and actors could just be professional and work things out? Yes. But since that wasn't possible this is the best outcome really.

I think they made Rio's character very one-dimensional with no character development/growth whatsoever. Like he literally killed a girl(which he didnt have to) in front of Beth and expect her to fall in love with him?? I knw he's a gangster and all but he should have kept his feud between him and the girls. And Rio does not deserve beth either. He is a good guy deep down but very unpredictable and any sensible person would not have fall in love with him. He was great at first but became so overused and annoying.
Dean, while not a favorite was not bad at times. I think he was definitely not necessary in the show but there were times where he actually made sense and had reason. And he still stayed and raised the kids even tho he put his family in financial ruin.

Omg I didn’t even realize the show got cancelled, but these were my thoughts exactly! I wasn’t really liking Beth this season, or Annie’s story line, or why Dean was still around and why Rio was rarely to be seen!
Honestly they know if they put rio and Beth together in the preview people will watch which is true.
They lost me by killing Lucy. They couldn't make it funny anymore after that. It was just upsetting and made Rio and the girls unforgivable.
It also always bothered me that Beth legitimately held it against Ruby when she *almost* prioritized her own children earlier in the show. And that Ruby choosing to protect Beth at the risk of her own children losing both their parents was supposed to be a positive character thing. That was some weird messaging.
The reason for killing Lucy was the gun they used was the gun with Beth’s hand print so they could dangle that in Beth’s face and then Annie put her handprints on it the police found out about Lucy and Annie was arrested as we saw in the last eposide
As for the Rio supporting and building Beth up, in season 2 it was heavily implied at the end that Rio could be using Beth as a scapegoat, she was his front and he was trying to pin most of his criminal activity to her. I HOPE the writers had followed that story line, instead of keep Brio-baiting us.
Also Christina being part of the producing team didn't help the story at all. It is pretty obvious that her team and NBC's people kept butting heads over the storylines.
Exactly, Brio was just plain toxic. I think rio was fine in the first two seasons but he became so annoying after. Maybe it was the writing but I definitely could not ship rio and Beth when all Beth did was try to put him away.
Loved the show, everyone in it but Manny Montana in particular - damn. Such a good actor. And in interviews he comes across as the most gracious, sweet dude who is thrilled to be where he is in his career. I bet he loved playing such a terrifying character 😊.

I'm late to the Good Girls party but I binged the entire show a week ago and when I tell you I have never been so heartbroken over a show lmao!!! The writers need hands and feet put on them because the first 2 seasons were incredible! I literally tuned in just for Manny Montana/Rio! He's so handsome and he played the hell out of Rio! It's clear that NOBODY on that cast expected for Manny to be the breakout star and I sensed there was jealousy at Manny/Rio becoming the fan favorite and the main draw for viewers tuning in because why was I only seeing 30 seconds of him each episode??????? The chemistry between him and Beth was a 10/10 *chef's kiss* and I thought it made no sense that they only had 3 sex/romantic scenes throughout all 4 seasons. Had I written the show? They would have been at it in the first season and he'd have had a significant amount of screen time with a clear backstory!! The writers definitely dropped the ball - this show could have been going on for several more seasons like Grey's Anatomy! They could have easily given us what we wanted (a Brio love story) but chose not to. Not surprised they were cancelled - this is what happens when you ignore your audience and the writing gets stupid.
And I fast forwarded through ALL of Annie's scenes - just boring and stupid. Dean getting all that screen time - another fast forward. If anything - Rio needs a spin-off show. Ruby's storyline went nowhere. Beth going to Rio for help and STILL trying to kill him?! And how were they washing all that money and still broke?!?! Made no sense!
I'm glad I binged this because I know I'd have been pissed watching this in real time waiting every Sunday when it was on the air! 🤣

all you said there is so true i started watching 1 week ago and it was amazing inthe first season but as soon as i got to the 2 season i started to fast forward to only the beth and rio scenes all the other scenes were dean and annie and beth. Rio really needed more screen time i really wish that the writers would have came up with something cuz i really wanted rio and beth to be an end game it was all producers and writers falt they were saying that their was a problem with the finacials that was all thier falt if they were listening to some of the things the fans were saying they would have seen the problem and fix it before anything happed but they went ahead and did any thing and left the viewer confused and heartbroken it just terrible there are are so many stories on the net saying why the movie was canclled i dont even know what to believe and i honestly think if Christina and Manny had beef they should have talked it out as work partners like they said its all professional yall come in do your jobs and go back home thats what im saying lack of comunication leads to alot of problems christina and manny should have resolved their differences and if their was a problem with the finacials they could have asked the fan base for some donation to help pay the actors and crew fearly thats my opinion on that

It’s not the opinions. People can hate the show or the characters, that’s fine. I like Rio and Beth, but I understand that others may not. What’s bothersome is seeing so many people still believing these rumors and spreading them. It’s taking real people and making up drama or rumors about them, when there’s no evidence to back it up. Everyone who has worked on set has reported that it’s one of the most fun sets and everyone is “so close.” The cast has spoken highly of each other, including Manny and Christina. Yet this old interview, where she clearly was joking around, is being taken out of context and used to light fuel to nonexistent fire. Was she tipsy? Probably. Could they have said it better? Maybe. Was it meant to be funny and is now being used totally out of context? Yes. It’s exhausting to see people want so badly to see drama where none exists, and it’s been that way for years. So her creating this video and including the speculation now has people talking horribly about a real person over a rumor that even the show runner has said is untrue. So, no, it’s not about being a Beth stan who can’t handle opinions. It’s about being frustrated that the girls are being totally bashed and called alcoholics and divas when it’s just not true. Anyone who has ever worked with or met these ladies have bragged on how kind and funny they are. So yes, we are upset.

🤷♀Christina seems completely lost as to why this show was popular in seasons 1 and 2.
She obviously does not get why the fans like Rio and Brio. She sounds clueless and immature.
1st, the interviewer takes things too far. Beth is not a Don. She makes costly mistakes and if Rio did not give her advice, she would be in jail already with her dumb useless husband. She gets blackmailed by 2 or 3 people in this show and is soft with the wrong people like Boomer and Mary Pat.
2nd, Rio showed Beth that she can be more than just a housewife and mother, she could be an independent boss lady. He gave her more credit than she deserved.
Mae was the only one who understood how many of the fans were feeling about Brio.
No one watched the show for Dean and I think Christina wanted the audience to fall in love with Dean, so they could fix their marriage. It's obvious Rio was supposed to die in season 2.
I can't imagine where the show would have gone if Rio had died in season 2. I cringed every time Beth and Dean had an intimate scene, and many other fans have said the same thing.
Maybe if they had cast a more handsome and charismatic husband, and had him only cheat once with one woman out of weakness or feeling lonely. Perhaps the female audience would like him more and they could have given him a whole redemption story over 1 season, it would have been better.

I like the show but I feel like it got too repetitive. I posted on reddit at the end of season 3 how it seemed they were doing the same plots - they went from selling cars to selling hot tubs. It fell into the same trap that DEVIOUS MAIDS did in this regard. I was concerned then that the show was heading towards cancellation if they didn't flip the scrip and unfortunately that ended up happening.
I think they should have ended up working with FBI after season two and doing undercover work - that would have refreshed the show.
It appears that the whole thing with Rio's brother-cousin was maybe a last-ditch effort to switch things up, but I think it ended up being too little too late. You make good points throughout the video - the hitman plot was stretched out for way too long and led nowhere. Very interesting with the conspiracy theories regarding the cast. Mae seems so genuine in both the show and real life! Hoping she has luck with another show here soon!
I do like the show still - it is incredibly quirky and has lol moments - but the many missteps you explained led to the end for the show. My only disagreement is your point that the show is believable - IMO these women would have been caught very early in real life if not killed in short order by a gang for sticking their noses where they shouldn't have lol. But it is fun to suspend belief! :)

Watched so many shows before but something about Good Girls got me so hooked and invested. When I first read the synopsis and then started watching the first episode I remember thinking "This show has no business being this good." The first two seasons were just unbelievably good. And then it was season three... For me it quickly went from "I can't wait to watch new episode" to "Oh, there was another one? Two weeks ago? Ughh" As you said it's sad that they ruined such a good show, but I'm not sad it's over... It'll probably just got worse if it continued.

I was so moved by what u said that I ended up crying it was just so heartbreaking 2 see how a good of a show this was to have it ruined bcuz of the writers etc. I'm actually very happy this show got canceled cuz it gives manny an oppurtunity to take on more acting roles and I'm really interested 2 see where his acting career is gonna go!! now I see why manny doesn't promote this show, not only bcuz of some of the fans but bcuz the cast especially retta & chrisitina {mae was cool she didn't say anything out of line} but the way they talked about him was very f*cking rude and it almost made me vomit. I’ve been waiting for this, even though I’m a little late lol. I agree 100 percent. When this show first started it was all me ,my friends and the people in Twitter could talk about every week, you know the kinda tweets/memes I’m talking about. However, season 4 really solidified my fears that the writers just didn’t know how to continue such a strong opening and it’s sad that when in doubt they didn’t look online to see what the fans were talking/begging for. How Dean kept getting more lines was annoying, Ruby being reduced to being in Beth’s shadow and Annie never getting her life together by the time season 4 rolled around did not make any sense as far as character development! It’s TV! Your seasons are not promised, use the time for these characters in a smart way! I’m sad it was butchered to this point b/c towards the end I just caught up with it weeks later. Also does anyone remember how at the end of season 1 or 2 Beth took down a STOP sign near her house ?! I really wonder what would’ve become of that.

It seems to me that they were not expecting the Rio's character to take off like he did. I mean the intensity Manny brought is what caused me to keep watching. But I did notice some gaps in the story telling like what caused Rio's descent into a life of crime? What happened after the FBI agent was killed? How did Beth and Rio turn the tables on his cousin? Why was the sister Annie targeted? What happened to Mary Pat after it was discovered that she killed her husband? Did they dig up his body or not? Why they only showed 3 of Beth's kids when she had 4? Why was Little Money cut from the show bc we never see him again after season 2?
The fact that they attempted to sabotage Rio's gangster with this whack a$$ brother/cousin character (in comparison to Rio he was whack), who couldn't even hold his own while being questioned by a damn beat cop, was so preposterous to me!!! Rio made gangster moves by meeting the FBI agent, by himself, in the diner and told his a$$ what was what. He handled his interrogation with that very same cop who questioned Nick so damn smoothly, yet they tried to play us with a storyline of Rio cowering to a degree to Nick??? Rio can more than hold his own against Nick in every way, as shown when they were in the boxing ring. I truly didn't appreciate them attempting to turn Rio into a simp. It didn't feel organic at all!!! I didn't mind the mind games between them, but goodness, they didn't have to disrespect his Boss persona!
Just finished the show. Have a lot of thoughts. First of all, the writers never really wanted Rio to be the star. They really wanted him to be the bad guy to the point where they have him kill Lucy. It's also proven by the fact that Dean stuck around for so long. They really tried to make Dean a redeemable character. Dean sticks by Beth and you're made to feel bad for him. But honestly, Rio stole the entire show.

I have been watching Manny Montana in many projects over the years, East LA, Graceland, Grimm (1 episode), Good Girls and I've always been a fan. As much as I hate the typecasting that he has always been placed in as the 'Hispanic gangbanger', criminal, drug addict, etc. I decided to overlook that in Good Girls because his character in season one was set up so incredibly well, but the network completely disregarded him even though to me, he is the heart of the show. Honestly, I'm kind of glad Good Girls was cancelled, he didn't need the show, they needed him. Personally I think it would be so amazing to see him in a another project, we got Gabriel Luna as Ghost Rider on Marvel, Diego Luna as the main character in a Star Wars Film, Pedro Pascal got his own television series in The Mandalorian (Star Wars) on Disney +. Manny Montana has been working for years, someone needs to give this man a project where he can shine.

I just watched season 4 on Netflix I'm disappointed
Summary of my thoughts:
1. These ladies have been scamming, laundering and robbing for 4 seasons and are still BROKE!!! It's not even making sense.
2. Too many non value adding story lines. Why do we need to know about Dean and this stupid brotherhood. The hitman lead to nothing. Whats is the point of beth becoming a councillor. The homeless man was so annoying. The FBI story line led to nothing. I couldn't keep up with the twists and turns. The lacrosse, the strip club , the mlm the hot tubs none of it came together cohesively.
3. Why keep the sexual tension storyline going with brio. If beth is trying to get him killed, ratting him out to fbi, fumbling business deals and just generally being a pain in neck.
4. The ending was shoddy!!
I hope the show gets picked up by a different network with better writers as the first two seasons were great.

It’s had a really good premise but they made too many mistakes. The actress who played Beth had too much influence on the shows writing which is why she was the center and why deans character stayed.
Good bingeing. So many loose ends- at the end. Definitely could have more seasons to flesh them out. (Dean’s cancer lie, Sister in jail?, Rio’s backstory, Beth as Councilwoman, and all the kids getting older.) I was hooked all the way thru. 👍
Season 1 and 2 was SO good! Annie and Rio are my favourite characters and Ruby is my least favourite, she is very whiney and loves playing the victim. They failed in not giving Rio a proper backstory, after 2 seasons of him playing with them, it’s like “ok, when is this going to end?” Manny Montana is a star and I hope he has so much success after this, as for the cast not liking him, he seems so incredibly charming and genuine and just to himself.
Let’s not even get into Dean!!!!!! Who cares about him selling skincare with all these weird men??? Take her to court or keep it on the playground.

I think it’s more than the cast I think the producers didn’t want Rio to be a competent character in a show about women. Think about it all the male characters were pretty much less than the women characters. They wrote Rio so well at being an innovator, plus the actor is such a great actor and he was so mysterious that it was hard to write him weak like the rest of the men. I believe they thought him being written to portray a thug would be enough for people to go he deserves what coming to him and write him off. A lot of the cliches were too obvious but they worked in the first 2 season because of the writing and intent.
