I play the flute too, and what my teacher always used to say when we played a duo,a trio or a quartet that it's very important to try to play in similar tone so that when we 'give the melody to each other', the audience should not notice who plays it. What you guys do here is pure perfection, so thanks for the experience. :)

i know that one.. Powell Sonare. I had a try out once next to the Sankyo Etude….the sankyo won ! for some Reason i could never adjust to playing a Powell, it Simply doesn't fit me...Strange ! Great duo Katie ..and Cheers from Montréal Quebec !
Depending on your age and physical condition, start slowly, walking, then speed walking, then jogging, then running. Remember that physical stress can be dangerous, be careful and if you smoke, drink or do anything that has harmed your lungs, your blood vessels you could wind up with a stroke. So get a physical exam, especially if you are completely out of 'shape' as you seem to be.
@@joemagnets9940 Thank you for replying! The main issue is that my mouth structure is a bit different due to cleft palate. It seems normal on the outside but actually there will be more air breathed out from nose when blowing, and the air from mouth thus would be weaker. So I figure if I could change this situation by improving my lung capacity. I don't drink nor smoke, by the way : -) Thank you again for useful advice!
@@moonnight021419, Sorry to hear about your condition. There is a type of flute that is used in India, it's called the 'nose flute', where you insert the blowhole of the 'mouthpiece' instead of in your mouth, you put it in one of your nostrils, keeping your mouth closed and using your nose to blow through to make the sounds. You can probably modify a regular mouth flute by tapering the mouthpiece to be small enough to fit into one of your nostrils. I would say that a transverse flute would not be suitable, but a 'recorder' that is a flute but played by putting the mouthpiece in your mouth, or by either buying a nose flute or modifying a 'recorder' flute, you should be able to enjoy playing it, without having blow through your mouth, but maybe sucking in the air through your mouth and blowing the air out through your nose into the 'recorder' or nose flute. Good luck.
@@moonnight021419 , as you know there are other families of musical instruments that you can play that you can use just your hands to make music, piano, guitar, come to mind being that those instruments also play the chords that will really enhance the enjoyabilty of the music being played. Joe

same! i found these plastic flutes that are by nuvo and they seem to be as good as a normal flute, but for beginners. the 2 prices ive seen are 130$ and 180$ depending on the model
I can only imagine you must have to be very conscious of your respiratory health. I bet the slightest impairment affects the performance greatly. I also can imagine practicing free diving could greatly increase your lung volume and capacity, would that help ? can you place better if you don't have to take a breath longer?

I believe so, yes! I thought the Aurumite lip plate gave the entire instrument a clear sound and great response.
