I like the mattress, is it comfy? Can you send me the link ?
Hi, I randomly found you on YT. I've also recently picked up the '23 Highlander AWD. I can't wait to tryout some boondocking with it... Great setup b.t.w.; can't wait for more of your adventure vids! Were there any issues you've come across taking it out into the wilderness? Bottoming-out struts? Overheating? Tire issues? Engine stress? etc... Would like to know more, anything would help - for future preparedness. Thanks!!
Hi great you asked. One thing to look out for is the lack of underbody protection on these highlanders. It's pretty much thin black plastic. We caught a rut and I had to fix it with some zip ties but no damage otherwise. This thing only has 8 inch clearance but be more on the cautious side when hitting the trails. Engine did great, went slow in ev mode hald the time, tires you would probably want something like a falken wildpeak AT or a BFG KO2 to get around if u plan on doing a lot of off road. I may level the front end by 2 inches and grab some bigger tires and smaller rims in the future to really make this thing capable
As a Toyota highlander Hybrid owner and avid tent camper, I am wanting to transition to car camping. One fear I have is the battery. What strategies do you use to ensure your battery won’t die after a 3-5 day trek? TIA
Is that legal to cut wood there?
Hey, would you prefer to have 17" with thicker wheels or the 19" do ok???
I want to test out my highlander also, juat to get to spots cant go anymore and then ride motorcycle onwards.
Ya, but womdering 17" vs 19", how do you find it now ?
Hi, great setup, quick question can you share more info on the awning you used ? Didn’t see it on the list you shared in the description. Thanks a ton
Hey its our moonshade awning, we also bought the walls for it. It held up great in wind and was covered in a ton of snow a few times and it survived. Just not 100% watertight heres the link: Moonfab.com
Nice video bro.
Thank you!
Great looking place! What trail is this off of, or can you provide coordinates?
Hi this place is in Anza close to ranchita. Just turned into one of the dirt roads and found a cool spot. 😎
Hey, are you able to sleep with the hatch open without draining the battery?
I don't see why not as the Highlander has the starter battery and the hybrid battery, plus the lights automatically turn off when left open
I believe you have the second row bucket seats. Would it be much better to have a bench seats for the mattress? What about support between the folded bucket seats? Can you run HVAC all night?
Hi we yes have those seats but we didn't notice the gap as the air mattress provided sufficient support fully inflated. Bench seats would provide an optimal flat surface but we didn't have any complaints, it was very comfortable and we used the gap for storage. You can run the hvac, but the engine would turn on periodically to recharge the engine. Maybe once or twice an hour for 5-10 minutes
I like the door dent , can u send me the link I wanna buy it
Hi I assume you are asking about the awning. Here is the link Moonfab.com
@@HappyRockOffroad no I mean the door dent protection

What kind of cargo carrier do you have ?
Tyger I got it from amazon
do you carry a full size spare tire?
Hey I don't, the Highlander has a temp one that I hope to never use
What’s the Fanny pack you are running

Haha yes a peaceful day at the lake sounds like a guaranteed great time! The world needs more of this. Thank you for watching and be safe 🙏
Where is this place ?
Hi, this is anza borrego state park near ranchita, CA
Pinoy campers.

Hey we carry a portable jump starter device we bought from Costco. There are a lot of options out there, no need to ask for a jump from strangers. Also I make sure to start the engine before bed and first thing I'm the morning, or every 6-8 hours in the interim to keep the battery charged by the alternator
Hi! I went camping and tried to leave the hatch and doors open, but the lights didn’t turn off. Any tips?
