If you plan to do hair transplant, now the scarring is more minimal with FUE.
It is always good for those with thicker hair by default. For someone with naturally thin hair, even before they lose hair, it won't look as good.
It is better to explore options like scalp massage, microneedling, PRP, etc to see if you can grow back thicker hair first.

As long as you get a hair transplant and you’re on finasteride, you should be good. Also add minoxidil, and then transplant hair should be there for life.

I am age 63 and have hair like a wolf but wanted to try smp so I could discuss it with some validity. I cut my hair with a 1/16 guided razor and proceeded to the clinic and paid 2500 for a full smp just the top of the scalp. The idea was to then grow my hair back which I am doing.
I notices a few interesting things. The real hair follicles at the hairline area may be a bit more shallow in the scalp and i think the smp needle hit them because a tiny area is growing back much slower then normal. For this reason a artist should go a bit more shallow along the front of a hairline not to damage any existing and growing hair follicles.
Secondly, some of my hair grows back at a slightly different direction as if the ink blocked the normal exit of the hair through the scalp so the route the hair took was slightly altered. Same as you would drive your car around a road block to get where you are going.
The smp process only took about 2 hours or less for 2500 so I imagine anyone in their right mind would want to be in this field because the training is not medical no degree needed but the profits are huge. This pay is higher per hour then most legal fees for a attorney !!!
Lastly, I can now tell my kids that as a old dude I have more tattoos then them. Smiles...
