I agree about the free and close-in parking! Though, since I've had osseointegration, I no longer feel the same great feeling when taking off the prosthesis, as I have no socket anymore. I have a second prosthesis that is waterproof (and is mechanical, so no battery to charge), and it permits me to wear it in the shower STANDING UP! Another bonus is that I even wear that shower prosthesis to when I go to bed. I extra mass of the prosthesis makes it easier for me to sit up and makes me feel more "whole" while I'm in bed, if that makes any sense. Essentially, the only time I don't have my leg on is when I'm switching from one to the other. LOL!
dieseldog1959 that’s insane!! I’d love to learn more!! Do you do videos on that? I’ll be honest that surgery freaks me out but I’d LOVE to learn more on it
Osseointegration is nothing to be afraid of . . . and I'm not being cavalier about it. It's a well-proven procedure dating back to dental implants. Honestly, the most serious difficulty at the current time is that there is that the easiest way to have the procedure is to go to Australia, Sweden, or the Netherlands. I had mine done in Sydney in September 2018. My original amputation was October 2017, so I was in a socket for less than a year. My stump had a lot of irregularities to it that made it easy for the socket to fall off--especially when seated (like at a restaurant, etc.). Osseointegration permits the bone (femurs in our cases) to bear weight once again and prevents the amputee from having to deal with the negatives of a socket (rash, hot spots, sweating, poor fit, etc.). I haven't done any serious videos about my situation other than just short videos that my wife or others would take during my physical therapy sessions. My purpose in posting wasn't to push osseointegration, though I'm quite passionate about it, but rather to let you know that I think you're awesome and a great example of livin' your best life! Cheers!
@@bren_hucks My stump is very irregular and not well-suited to wearing a socket. I'd been reading and learning about osseointegration shortly after my crash, but my amputation didn't happen until six years after the crash. The amputation was because of bone infection that could not be suppressed. I was determined to have the osseointegration surgery as soon as possible, before my femur started losing bone density.
I love all of them especially number ten ....best feeling ever! Amputee humour as proved by you is hilarious 🤣 I’ve done the lift jammer with my leg - the looks you get tho 😳👌🏻🤣😂🤗🤗
Be Safe n Healthy I have only had Bad reactions from ppl about being Disabled and Mangold and only considered ugly and worthless to most, thank you for the Positive message,
I agree with every one of your items, Especially the taking off of the leg at the end of the day. But you forgot a few. For example, Half price pedicures, Half as likely to step on a lego barefoot, and NEVER EVER having to match your socks again.
Free parking? You wouldn't get it in Germany with only one leg amputated. I don't. You won't get free parking unless you'd literally cut off your other leg too.
Same 4 me wife. We are German, the cause is, that Germany has not something like handicapped / not handicapped but 100 different sorts of being handicapped. Wheelchair users need the bigger place for parking, because: try to transfer out of a car into a Wheelchair and you will know why. Some disabled persons get a free ticket for the train - not with one functioning leg. Some people need constant help, so 2 people are free in the train. And so on. And by the way: If your amputation is really high up, so that you can't work a prosthesis (or you need a hip basket): you have free parking. But: My wife says, she is happy with that. Why? Guess I would have lost my leg this high or would be in a wheelchair, no, I prefer not to have the free parking.
That’s very interesting. I think there needs to be levels here as well because not everyone is respectful of wheelchair parking but I am incredible thankful for closer parking spots as an AKA because when I need them I have access to them!
@@bren_hucks really annoying, when we walk 500 m out of respect to handicapped parking and some SUV-youngsters use the handicapped slot, because "it is the only one big enough for our car"
you seem like a good humored girl, what do you call a dog with no legs?............................. you dont call him anything. he cant come to you anyway. cheers, stay safe
