Ahah merci beaucoup. It’s super funny what you just said. Because somehow I feel home, the road signs, the electricity plug. The architecture, part of the cuisine, the language sometimes, old people could speak French more than English ! That’s dope 🥰
@@charlesbonneau There is a fairly good amount of French in the VN language. My mom grew up learning French in school. I think the school was called something like Lycee Marie Curie in HCM City. And of course a lot of French music (old songs) are ingrained into the VN culture. I can attest to that because I myself love listening to many many old French songs.

That's definitely middle class and much better than most much more competent Vietnamese with better credentials. This lady probably protested against white privilege, then used white privilege to her advantage in Vietnam
I get so annoyed, being a qualified teacher, that in Vietnam, they employ English teachers just because they are native speakers. Teaching is a specialised skill , you need to know the grammar and semantics of the language, otherwise how would you explain the use of tenses, pronouns, adverbs, etc.
There are definitely multiple levels, if you are a qualified and career teacher, you can make a good career here, but it is a lot more competitive and limited.for opportunities. If yih work in centre's, the priority is more about confidence building, encouragement and enjoyment. These kids study at school all day them attend extra classes in the evenings. Part extracuricularr activities, part looking after the kids. With all teaching, you get out what you put in

Everything she said about working in Japan is completely contradictory to what hundreds of youtube expats have stated, and what I have first hand heard from people living and working there for over a decade. I lived and worked in ROK (South Korea) for 4 years, and no, you do not have to be white in SEA, there are many English teachers in SEA that are not white, but you do need to be from a native English speaking country, and a TEFOL or CELTA are not necessary but will help. This appears to be a 'hype up Vietnam more than any other SEA country' kind of video, and good lord, not speaking any Vietnamese after 7 years, what the actual F.
Retired people are out of luck being able to live in Vietnam. It has NO retirement visa. With a tourist visa, you’re allowed to stay only 90 days. Then you are required to leave the country. Border runs are the only way back in. That or marry a Vietnamese citizen. If one wants to come out of retirement and get a legitimate job like teaching English with a TEFL certificate, that will also allow you to stay longer than 90 days. But then you are no longer retired, but working again. There are much better countries to live in as a retiree than Vietnam!
Many retirees manage their stay by combining tourist visas with periodic trips to nearby countries. While this may require more planning, the affordability of travel within Southeast Asia makes it feasible. Additionally, Vietnam offers long-term visas for those who invest in the country or engage in certain business activities, which can be a workaround for some retirees. So at the end of the day, it's more what you looking for, in term of lifestyle, i know retirees very happy over here.
@@charlesbonneauI think, taking a short trip (2 days 1 night) to neighboring countries every three months is also a way to relieve the mental fatigue that comes from living in one place for too long.
