It's a little hush hush about living in Vietnam. It was supposed to be among us all the expats, otherwise lots of people will flood into the beach city, causing everything in Vietnam to go up 😁

The burning is most likely farmers burning the fields. I've never seen it in VN though. It happens in Chiang Mai so I don't know if the smoke comes from there.

Have you both been to Nha Trang? From what I hear Nha Trang has better weather in that it doesn't have much rain compared to Da Nang and also temperature is more stable in Nha Trang. I'm wondering why Da Nang seems to be more of a magnet than Nha Trang?

Oh yeah, even for me as a local, what I hate most about Huế ỏ Đà Nẵng is that it's too hot and there's little cool breeze. The hot period in Đà Nẵng also lasts longer than in Nha Trang

The infrastructure and roads in Đà Nẵng are better and wider compared to Nha Trang, and that’s the reason. Nha Trang can experience traffic jams. It's all because Đà Nẵng was very well planned and extremely well developed by the previous leader

@@Lemontree5.3 ok that's interesting. Thanks for your input. Do you live in Da Nang? I was thinking to checkout Nha Trang again. I have been there twice already but back in 1999 and 2003. Both times I had people trying to scam me and also had my wallet stolen so don't have a good experience there. But I've been told it is much better now regarding that. I've been trying to research a place with better weather than Da Nang.

@@DevineOne Ya, If you're searching for a place with a better climate than Đà Nẵng Nha Trang or Quy Nhơn even, it can only be in the Central Highlands. Like Đắk Lắk, Đà Lạt they don’t even have any AC in there. The weather and the view in Nha Trang is just slightly slightly better than Đà Nẵng, but Nha Trang usually has many Russian and Chinese tourists. Meanwhile, Đà Nẵng is a bit better in terms of long white sandy beaches, infrastructure, and the expat community (quite important). I don’t live in Đà Nẵng anymore, but I usually visit my relatives there. Honestly, in my opinion, overall I would rate Đà Nẵng 9/10 and Nha Trang 8.5/10, but I’m nature guy so live near Nha Trang. Pickpocket or scams isn’t really a thing there, you will hardly to see. Maybe in HCM or HN it still but not that much

I know Vietnam requires a round trip ticket in addition to a tourist visa. Even though I’m coming from the United States can my return ticket be to Thailand? Essentially I don’t really want to leave Vietnam for a year and do land border visa runs.

I've been to Da nang 3 times recently. They never asked for a return ticket. However, I been to Saigon once 8 years ago and they asked for one. Da nang is the best city.

Currently no. im not sure in the fulture but even property taxes are still very low. They haven't even been able to tax local bussiness citizens, let alone foreigners and taxing those working online is even harder.

@@Lemontree5.3 Currently, the Vietnamese government has collected taxes on online businesses, including income generated from abroad (from UA-cam, Amazon...) of Vietnamese people. However, you can rest assured that Vietnam will not tax foreigners, to attract foreigners to Vietnam, that is a story for the next 15-20 years. Vietnam will issue retirement visas to foreigners in the near future, I believe so, and hopefully there will be long-term visas for digital nomads.

Maybe you should select another country to live as you’re not going to be able to change a long time thinking of many Vietnamese people. You’re coming into another country so it’s ridiculous to ask others to change their thinking to yours. I get about the pollution is important to us all. But how do you know what you’re saying about the effects of the ozone layer? Instead of speaking online in criticizing someone’s culture made you could find a better effective ways. I think.

I completely understand that coming to a new country means respecting the local culture. I love Vietnam and appreciate its unique beauty and traditions.
My intention is not to criticize but to spark a constructive conversation about environmental issues that affect all of us globally.
