Sorry I'm spamming comments but I plan to read the first Dune book before watching the movies, but heard the books fall off after the first so unsure about the others
Lets read Dune together! Also I think I want to read Bunny it sounds really fun and weird and great to know it won't give me nightmares :) I'll add Heartstopper too :)
Too many people are worried about being extra and forget to have their basics covered, and honestly, that just feels exhausting. Popular books are popular for a reason, and there's nothing wrong with being well-read in what everyone’s talking about. Loved hearing your reactions to these!
The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires is more gross/creepy than scary! I also am a big crybaby and can’t handle scary stuff but I made it through that book with just a slight case of the heebie jeebies 😂
Ok this is very helpful! I feel like I could handle that - and I like the idea of dabbling in the horror genre without completely traumatizing myself and giving myself nightmares haha. I think I'm gonna add it to my TBR :) Maybe something to save for the fall?
The most popular books on GoodReads are almost a list of books to avoid for me 😂 I think there are a lot of teenagers on GoodReads so I do not trust their taste. That said, I really enjoyed A Little Life and The Secret History. Taylor Jenkins Reid sets her books in really interesting eras and they are decent trashy page-turners, I didn't like Carrie Soto though. Richard Osman is the best-selling author in the UK by a country mile, and his books are wonderful. Both those Madeline Miller books are great, I actually prefer Circe. All Systems Red is great, the whole Murderbot series is so fun and they are very short. I Who Have Never Known Men was my number 1 book of 2024! Lots of people don't like Frankenstein, two of my booktube friends have recently trashed it so I wouldn't feel bad (I hated Dracula). Book Lovers is well worth a read, I want to get more Emily Henry.
Whoa you've read so many of these! Appreciate the thoughtful comment! I will definitely check out Richard Osman, All Systems Red, and both Madeline Miller books. I actually just read I Who Have Never Known Men and LOVED it although I can't really say I fully understood it... need to do some reflecting on that one because it was so creative, unique, and fun to read, but the ending was surprising to me and I still don't fully know what to make of it. I think that's probably part of the reason the book is so interesting though!
Taylor Jenkins Reid is really good! The best for me is “the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo “! Also good reads is not the most reliable platform to be called the better readers books!
7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is the only TJR I have read and I LOVED it ( I also had a period where I was really into deep diving into the lives of old Hollywood stars so I kind of knew it would be fun for me). It's shocking this one wasn't on the list since I feel like it's her most popular book, but, to your point, this list felt suspicious to me - I agree Goodreads might not be the most reliable platform

Hell yeah basic girlies

Bunny is not that scary! It's freaky I think you'd like it I thought it was unique
Don't read Good Girls Guide to Murder, it was dumb. But HEARTSTOPPER is the cutest!!!! Easy graphic novels to fly through

Totally agree! Sometimes it's fun to find lesser-known authors and books, but classics and popular books are loved by lots of people for a reason :)
My Year of Rest and Relaxation was a wild ride. Not my fave but worth a read for sure
I'm kind of obsessed with the concept so I think I want to read it haha

Can’t hear you music yes 😮
Oh shoot! I tried to lower the music after the intro, but this is helpful feedback. I'll try to make it a bit lower in future videos

@@cryionic Hmmm I'll have to look into it more on the next one - thank you for the feedback!
