To be fair you didn't balayage your hair. You added a few highlights to your already balayaged hair. Not a bad job, but you should be a bit less misleading.
James Ruddy I do agree. Bayalage is a technique folks. Try the V and do it on the entire head. Then you’ve bayalaged. It’s often confused with Ombré and highlights.
I agree
James Ruddy completely agreed
Facts
James Ruddy exactly!
This should be more of a touch up video at home than an actual diy ombre
Clean mascara spoolies from Sally's are an easy way to drag the color up a bit too so it blends nicely. 👍🏻
That's a great idea! I should try this next time i color my hair
addercat I did that and it looked really natural and good!
How would you use it? :D Would you just brush a tiny amount through where she drags it further up, or? :D
A toothbrush does too🙌🏼 then comb through
you are saviour
This is close to the technique used in salons where I'm from. It's a simplified version of the 'back-comb' used in Balayage, which uses a comb to brush the section of hair upwards and against the hair, raising random strands at various lengths to create that gradient effect. Very pretty. An easy at home version of the loreal kit that would yield you way more uses for a few bucks more is a value tub of hair bleach from Quick Light lightener and either 30 or 40 Vol creme developer. Mix equal parts to create a creamy paste and always separate in the way you usually do your hair. Then just grab your strand section MAKING SURE IT'S THIN ENOUGH TO COAT THE ENTIRETY OF IT in your lightening creme, and wait 30-45 minutes depending on how blonde you want to go. Remember, hair lightener only bleaches, or lifts hair color, but it doesn't tone it. You need a violet/blue/ash based toner or hair color that you can also pick up for a few dollars online, to counteract the red/orange tones your hair will have after the bleach/lightening treatment. A commonly used product that temporarily masks those brassy tones that can be used in a pinch is a 'Silver Shampoo'. Just make sure to peek into the bottle or make sure the contents are a bright violet/blue color. I'm tired of typing now. Hope this helps someone 💚
can i do this if my hair is at its natural color? ive never died my hair
wht hair colour or alternative of toning ? how to avoid tht orange thing i have dark af hair and never did anything to it before just wanna do the ends wht to do?
Yes definitely helpful! Thanks 👍😊
Yup, very helpful! Thank you…👋🏼🇨🇦
After all the videos on hair Ive watched this one has such better quality video (frame rate etc) it makes me happy
Love these hair tutorials!! Can so do this at home by myself, great money saving tip. Honestly I think the salons are so expensive and now a days you need to be crazy rich to go almost like it is just now reserved for the rich, and then come back for touch ups to add more to the bill. No thanks!!! Thank you Ashley and L'Oreal!!
God, I used to do an ombre myself a few years ago but I'm so afraid to do it again now... But watching you makes me want to have lighter ends and your technique is just so on point! Maybe I'll try it next week (after my finals), who knows... But thank you Ashley to make such an amazing DIY! xx
You did a great job. Yes, it is balayage technique. Balayage means to “freehand” paint on the color. As a stylist I am anti box color, however your application idea was phenomenal!
You made it look so easy!! Love how it turned out! Your hair is stunning
I've tried it and it turned out great. I love it! Thank you for the tutorial. I used L'Oreal Dialight 9.11 afterwards to fix the brassiness.
love how natural it looks!
also, maybe you could do a full workout routine where you tell how many times per week you work out, for how long, how many times per week you do cardio and show all of the exercises for abs, legs, arms and back that you do? would love that!:)
Banga Mudėnaitė yes!
Her cleaning T shirt looks like my everyday T shirt 😭
I love this! Thank you. My hair stylist of 20 years is moving across the country and so I am going to use this technique in the meantime. 👍❤️💯
Luv this! What color lipstick are you wearing in this video ???
Haha i just watched the old version of this and i was so confused for a minute when this one showed up! Love your hair style and colour! Also you are my inspiration! ❤️
Have looked at many demo's on youtube and yours is one of the best, love the look,it's not over done with toooooo much colour.Love it!!!
Thank you! I'm scared to do this on my own but you had me feeling a little more confident, that I can do it myself. Can't wait to try it!
I personally don't recommend using those kits if you have super dark hair . My hair is naturally a really dark brown- black color and it turned my hair super red cause of the undertones in my hair. But if you have lighter hair this will definitely do it for you just wanted to let y'all know
Mercedes Arroyo any lightening will do that. At salons they tone, and you should after doing it at home too.
Question What Did You Used Because I Have Really Dark Brown Hair ?
My hair is black and it came out a medium brown. Didn't really do anything. You could only notice if you looked up close.
Mercedes Arroyo you have to leave it on longer and or apply heat to get past the orange undertone.
@@jenniferbibi1972 I was told you want to pull all the color out of your hair first and then put color (even if it's blonde) back in there.
I tried that box and nooope! if you have dark hair and used box dye this may not turn out the way you want. I used blondissima at the ends coated the bottom and used less as I worked upwards, you have to do a strand test to see if all the box dye it gone. then used a dark brown at roots and waited about 20 mins then slowly worked the dye down some, waited another 10 then added a light ash blonde/brown at the tips waited 15 mins n washed out and it turned out amazing!!!!
I got a great tip from you that no one else had mentioned, about stroking up the strand to break up the color line, thanks!!! great tip and so glad you metioned it.
Definitely trying this! It looks subtle yet makes huge difference
I love this so much I know your hair was already Balayage but this is a good example on how to start out especially for beginners. Even if you dont have Balayage hair prior thats ok, you can always achieve it by learning. Especially if your hair does not have any highlights, its a great canvas and start to begin with. I actually have been doing my hair on my own learning from my mother. Surprising as it is I got this down to a T just from a semi permanent highlighting box instead of the feria I have yet to try it out! I also have brunette hair as well and I tend to use semi permanent because it is less damaging in a way in my opinion. I use the Frost and glow highlighting kit or box..whatever lol. It does wonders to my hair, and if I want a lighter color through my mid section of my hair from top of my ear to the base of my neck I'll do it with this also which give this red bronze hugh-ish tinge which I love. As for my ends Ill bring this process to the ends and in a week or so I'll touch my ends for a lighter effect almost ombre rather then balayage if thats what you are going for. :)
Thanks Ashley! I feel very inspired .you made it look very easy, great job.
You look so gorgeous, love the lip color! Ive always used the highlighter from Revlon for years but maybe ill try this one out. btw your hair looks really healthy!
Momma From Scratch does it dry out your hair, when you use box color? I want to try it but afraid that it will damage my hair, because I am trying to let my hair grow out.
Erica Henson I put coconut oil on before I bleach. Don't rinse it - put the bleach on top. I swear my hair is healthier doing it this way myself than when I spent lots of money at the salon for highlights with olaplex. Any dye is damaging though!
addercat thanks for the tips!!! I appreciate it!!👍🏻😁
addercat if you put coconut oil before dye and not rise. How the dye penetrate into your hair for it to change color?
So helpful for me. I’m turning to doing my own hair to cut costs. I’m ok with a full head colour, but I need to learn how to get my sun kissed highlights in myself & I’ll be happy. This looks so doable. Thank you so much 😘🫶🏼😘 xxxx
It looks so good!!! My next touch up I'll definitely try this color!❤
This is great as I am looking to do a touch up on my already balayage. It is actually in a v alternating pattern but with you doing small and large pieces I like it. Glad to see its not brassy as I use the highlighting kit bc I'm afraid it will look too brassy for me but your hair is very dark. I love Feria!
You make this look so easy!! I'm scared that if I do it on my own, it'll turn into a hot mess!
omg Ashley it looks so good ! Thank you for the tutorial. I'm definitely going to try it ! 😘
That is the smartest idea ever! You've just made things so much easier, thanks! x
Loved the finished look! Your original baylage video is the first video I watched of yours! Nice to see an update
It came out so good!! But since you mentioned getting a lod haircut I can't stop thinking how amazing it will look on you especially with those highlights😍😍
your technique is a complete game changer for me! Doing this and forever keeping this video!
Hair is bomb as per usual! I'm sad I've been MIA from your videos (long vacation), but glad to be back and catching up on all of them
I'd love to do this on my hair, but until now I didn't know how to save money and do it my own. Thanks so much for sharing this video Ashley!
You are the DIY Balayage QUEEN! Loves it!
omg thank you. the first video i've watched which was reeeaaallly good. xx
Wow girl! The best highlights I’ve ever given myself! Thank you so much for this video, it was so quick too😘
I just love it , I would like to try this color soon 😊 this color really suite you
Hi Ashley! I used your technique last night with the clairol product you used in your last video! Unfortunately I didn't read the comments and used heat so it didn't turn out as blonde as I wanted - so I'd love to try it out again using this product (I think it turned out even better in this video!) My hair is pretty naturally blonde already, so I'm wondering if this product would still work. Would you recommend this exact product for blonde hair or does loreal have something that might work better? It looks like they've stopped selling the dark blonde color. Thanks!!
I just did this process with a less harming product and it came out so natural and beautiful! thanks for this technique and super easy at home option!
catalina Gomez What product did you use? Worried this will damage my hair :(
I tried this and it worked fantastically. Thanks for posting!!
OMG your hair are just perfect !
Brilliant video, great clarity and precise advice! Thanks so much! :)
its nice to see that although you go to the salon, you also like varying it and use box color. loreal is sooo good!
wow the color is Amazing thanks for this video Ash
i have dark brown hair that looks slightly blonde/reddish... and i really want the same color you had, will it do the same with my own hair color ?
Wow it looks so good! Makes me wanna try it!
Can you do a makeup tutorial for this look?? We love your lipstick!!
I love this so much ! You did such an awesome job 🏅😊
Looks great! This is the same technique Jessie James Decker used here on YT a few years ago, but I think she termed it "honey dipping". I love the effect and have done this ever since. So easy and perfect for in between appointments, like you say.
Definitely doing this on the weekend. Thank you!
I would like mine to be blonder. If you have any other recommendations for that look, I would greatly love that. Thank you! I'm doing this tonight. My stylist and back ups are booked almost months out bc of covid. I could barely get an appointment for trim in 2 weeks.
Gorgeous! I'm in love with hair color. Is your base color your natural?
Do you know if this will work if I recently got my hair highlighted? Like about 3 months ago? I just want more colour in my hair.
Hi Ash! love the editing you did on this video, I always like it hahaha but this one I like it more! love love love for how you're gwroing up your channel. I've seeing you since September 2016 and you're one of my favorite youtubers of all times, xoxo
Love it Ash!!! Thanks for this and I love your lip color :)
Love this video can you go through how you styled your hair pleeeeeez! X
That's great!! Thank you I will definitely be trying this x
How do you have the prettiest face, the best hair, and the coolest style? Are you even real? xo
Misty Back haha! that was adorable. And you're adorable. And She's Adorable! OMG... WE'RE ALL ADORABLE..!!!!
Ghoji Tom 😂😂😂
Obviously plastic surgery
That's the thing, the answers no. Lmao
Not that there is anything wrong with it, but it is artificial. The lips are the most obvious fake trait as you can easily spot it between natural and fake, of the same size.
Like that Kylie chick, her lips were so thin they were barely noticeable when she was younger. Much like an English man. You can see the difference and how fake they are, especially without make up, they look swollen and the "line" is misplaced with the artificial fat tissue. So people like Angelina Jolie who have natural big lips have that fat build up in the right place. People like this woman and Kylie who have fake lips have that swollen appearance that you really notice when they talk.
I can't tell if any other face surgery or procedure was done on her, but her nose does look like it had work too. But it may just naturally look that way. By that I mean that it doesn't match her traits. I'm an artist and I can spot these things because I had to learn how to draw faces and how to distinguish between traits based on things like race, age, and even location.
Make up and contouring give her that face shape. It defines her cheek bones and lawline, which would not be prominant without makeup.
Her brows are also very prominant. Extending beyond what her face would typically have.
None of this means that she isn't naturally beautiful, she is. But not at all in the way we see here. Nothing wrong with it. I love makeup. But no, it isn't real.
Beauty is paid for these days. Just look at Kylie before when after. Had she not been born into money, she would be today considered about a 4 on a scale from 1-10. Now look at her. But it took tons of procedures and artificial manipulations to get to where she is today. In a nutshell. Shouldn't she ever have children, they will look nothing like her.
You are SO beautiful.
_Please_ stop anything you are doing to your lips.
_You honestly don't need it._
You are naturally wonderful! Such a beauty.
Amazing! Im going to get my hair done then im going to highlight my hair, with the technique
Ugh I always love your hair! Can you do a blow drying tutorial please 😁
amazing! :) always so pretty. love your hair
Can some one help me! I want to dye my hair a light brown and i have (black hair ) but also want a balage look so will it work if i use two different colors of loreal in my hair one for the entire hair and one for the balage look?? :/
Wow, your hair looks amazing. Our hair color is similar so I think this is exactly what I need to highlight it. Also, what lipstick are you wearing?
I love the color! It brings out your natural skin tones and makes you look so tan! 😉
Does it dry out your hair? I have darker hair than you but afraid that it will dry it out and start breaking.
What strength developer did you use? I see you used cream color and developer. Is cream better than liquid?
I Love you so much Ashley !!
I love you so much! one of the best tutorials ever!!!
Hey Ash, would you recommend doing this technique on hair that hasn't been coloured yet? I noticed you said you used this for touch ups. Thanks!
Do you have a turtorial to the hairstyle in the first few minutes of this one here? Blowdrying? I am amazed !
WHAT this looks so good!!
it totally worked for me!! Amazing results ^^
Your tips are amazing! Thank you
Ooooo I've been wanting to do this!! Also, I've never been this early:)
so happy i came across this video ! awesome technique
Thanks for the tips. We are going to try them on my wife's hair now!
Off topic, but, do you have any idea what your Mac shade is? Or what foundation shade matches you best?
Your hair tutorial are always the best 😘
Would this be ok if i used this for an Ombre without bleach? I have medium brown hair.
can u do this with just a lighter colour hair dye or do u need an ombre kit
Would it work to use an ash toner after doing this? Does it even matter what sort of toner you use?
if i could be anyone in the world it would be you. you deserve a bigger following. love you and your vlogs
I really like your method of applying the bleach I will try it in future..
I am going to do this today. I have brunette hair with about 1.5 years grown out blonde/caramel balayage. My hair is thick, and about to my belly button in length, so I hope one box is enough. I'll update after I wash and style. Thanks for the video.
Ash! I have a question...unnoticed how you started from the bottom of your hair and worked your to the top. But I was wondering if the color bleeding onto the hair once you move onto the second second, third etc. until your done?? I'm scared I'd have spotting:/.
Kitty Rodriguez use foil.
Do you touch your own roots up at home?? I get bayalage & it's expensive but I went darker at my roots so it gets lighter any advice, tips??
What did you use to style the waves in your hair?
do you have to apply it all over your hair or just some strands?
Did you have to bleach your hair originally ? I have brown hair too and I was wondering if I needed to bleach it before I go for this look.
I want to try this but I'm scared because my hair is so long! Looked so good on you though !
It looks good there but by just applying bleach your hair will be very damaged and orangy looking... Her hair looks very dry and damaged ..
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a method to get back into an Instagram account..?
I was stupid lost my login password. I would love any tricks you can offer me!
I didn't notice much difference. It would be helpful to add before and after picture . Thank you
Love your hair, thanks girl for the video 😉
Where do you get your hair colored? Its just so gorgeous and I live in li and am looking for a new colorist!!!
I used to cut my hair this way all the time. I was so picky about it that I just got to a point where I would trim it up myself since I knew what kind of layers I wanted and where.
I love the results!!! did you use the hole thing or just half?
What colour did you have on roots?is it demi or permannet?
Do you do this to every piece of your hair or just a few?
Did it, turned out great. Thank you so much for your tips!!!
Noelle Romero do you know if this will work on dark brown hair?
loved it so much!!! 😍
