BEGINNERS READ: Best DIY balayage video on yourself I have seen so far! I have been watching hair videos for a long time... but typically the DIY videos done by amateurs are the worst videos to watch before you start to color your hair! My best advice is to actually watch as many professionals do a balayage or a highlight or a baby light as much as possible before you try it on yourself… You’re gonna learn so much more than watching some other amateurs do DIY.
But this video is great and she clearly used to work at Sally so I would consider her more of a professional which is why her video is so good!
I actually did my first balayage with Clairol balayage highlight powder but I did purchase another packet for the next time I do my balayage highlights of the Wella balayage powder.
For those of you that are newbies… You need to stick with the balayage highlighter instead of bleach… You will get beautiful Caramell colors which is a great starter highlight so that you don’t end up over bleaching and having such a major contrast when you are doing this for the first time. Later, as you get the technique down.
Then you should start experimenting with bleach to get highlights that might lift more… Or…
You could still continue to use a balayage highlighter over your old highlights in order to achieve more lift over time.

Well I am really LATE to the party but so glad I found your tutorial. I am 61, have medium length dark blonde and some professionally provided streaky highlights. But I followed your instructions and my hair now looks better than it has coming out of the salon. Finished off with Wella Toners T18 and T27.mixed half and half . My husband is so impressed ! Thanks so much

I've watched alot of videos on balayage, they were good, they were helpful. But non of them were ones that made me actually say okay, yes I am doing this. But yours did, not only because you did a great job and made it look so easy but because you've used the wella clay lightener which Is what I've got and made me feel confident enough to want to use it. So thank you. Your hair looks great.

Thank you so much! It's so hard to find a good stylist, so I have learned to do my own hair. Someone did a balayage on me and teased my hair into a bunch of knots in the process. It took so long for him to get the knots out. I am now ready for lighter sections but decided I will do it myself. I used to be a blond and did my own highlights. This seems really easy and the Wella lightening you mentioned seems less harsh and easier to use. I'm running to Sally's now. LOL

Thank you for this! I messaged a hair stylist to ask her a question about balayage because I want to do it on myself and she was very snobby and said that it’s better to not do it at all if I plan on doing it myself since I can’t afford a stylist to do it. 😒 This gives me more confidence in doing it! Thank you!

Imagine someone coming to you and asking for free advice when you invested at least 17k and so many hours into your trade. It's like going to an electrician and asking how to do it yourself. We all need to save money right now but that's their livelihood, and that is what tutorials are for.

super helpful video! The best one I could find on the wella balayage powder!! I have dark brown asian hair and have previously (lightly) bleached it at a salon about three times. Love the outcome but I haven't gone back in over a year and I wanted to bring up the brightness enough to use an overtone semi-temporary coloring conditioner for the summer! Since I'm not looking for drastic I think you've convinced me to use the wella system!! Thanks!

Would it bead usable to try vol. 30 developer next time?

This is, by far, the best balayage video I've seen yet, and I've watched a LOT of them. Actually, this is just the best hair coloring video I've seen period. There are so many out there where the person says they don't know what they're doing and they're going to see how it turns out. Now, why would I want to try something when someone says that. Yours, on the other hand, was very helpful because it's clear that you know what you're doing, and you make it easy to understand. Thanks for a great video! My hair is shoulder length, but I'm going to give this a go now that I've found your video.

    • @musicrocksinaustin
      @musicrocksinaustin 4 роки тому

Typically when you’re using the balayage lightener instead of bleach… You don’t need toner!
In fact you don’t always need a toner when you are lightening your hair… This is why going to a salon can take a very long time because they are looking at the color of your hair in between each process and sometimes the only way to see what your hair actually looks like is when they blow dry it out because wet hair appears darker.
Because the balayage lightener is a different than regular bleach you’re going to get more caramel colored highlights from virgin hair.
I actually made the mistake of using a balayage lightener and before really looking at my hair I actually apply to toner over and I’m now trying to get the toner out of my hair.

So I wanted to try it myself since I have long hair and can't afford going to salon right now. I was wondering if I do like a t11 or t18 on all my hair including roots will it really change the root color ? I don't want it to look super platnium but some ashy

So if I'm understanding you correctly, this Wello product enabled you to not worry about the top bleached layers, bleaching the layers that they touched or that were beneath them. I would've love to see how you use that "board" in the back. Thanks for sharing your process. I'm educating myself in this by watching many videos, I think, before it's all over.

What color was your hair when you washed the clay lightner out? Are those your natural roots or they have dye over them?

After the bleach, what shampoo did you use?
And the toner should be right after the shampoo with the hair wet?

Did you not used a toner after you rinse out the bleach? Does it really make a difference using clay lightener rather than regular lightener. Thanks for your response.

Will this work okay with a highlighting cap? Also what can I put on my greys? I have a feeling my greys are going to turn red. Have dark brown hair and it tends to pull reds anyway. 🤦🏽‍♀️
I love the color of your hair!!!!. I always want that caramely blond like. And every time I get my hair done they leave me with red caramel. 🤦🏽‍♀️ So I want to try it myself. Thanks for sharing!!!! I’m in love with your hair!!

Do you have a video of how to apply the toner? I have all dark hair and am leaving my roots, I just want SOME blonde balayage throughout but not a lot. Many of the other videos I have watched of balayage they put a lot more blonde in than I am wanting. Do I put the toner on just the parts of my hair where I have put the blonde or do I need to put it on the parts I haven't dyed also, and will this change the color of brown that my hair is currently?
